Yeah, this really is a face-palm moment. However, in Minty's defence, if you've never actually been there and you're not from the USA, then it's easy enough to get confused. For example, if you do a google search for "Universal Studios Orlando", the OFFICIAL site shows as Universal Studios Orlando, however, the first sub-header is entitled Universal Studios Florida, which may make it seem as though it's an entirely separate park. To further complicate the matter, The park is not actually located in Orlando, or really even near it. The closest city, from my recollection, is Kissimmee, Florida. So it's easy to see how someone could make this mistake. That said, if you haven't been there, you should, as it's probably one of the best theme parks in the world, in my humble opinion.

I was a kid in the late 80's and early 90's but didn't see this film for the first time until 2008 as an adult. When I finally did it caused a huge rush of nostalgia for that whole time period. Even a little teary eyed in some spots. The Movie captures the feeling and vibe of that time period as a kid perfectly and not just because of it's Nintendo theme.
Even so, it was enjoyable. They were only able to consult one Nintendo of America employee for information on the games. Ben Cheese, whom was credited in the movie as a game consultant, and he was also a localizer for games like the original StarFox.
I finally saw this a few months ago, and no other movie better illustrates being that age at that time. Running around unsupervised, rumors that Japan already has Mario 3, and New Kids playing in every diner. Dude I was shook.

And the award for best comment goes to.......
I don’t care if it was a giant Nintendo commercial, this movie was my childhood! Thanks for reviewing this, Minty :)
Anyone remember Little Monsters and the show The Wonder Years?
Heck Yeah Minty😎covered👍it awhile back
@@magicvampirelver1321 I didn't know that. I'll look it up
@@maxxas5067 yup, love the movie, i have it, i have my son watch it now too😊
Many years ago during Thanksgiving, my uncle regaled us with tales of whistles and hidden exits in SMB3. Good times, we highly enjoyed the movie he recomended to us that night.
DUDE! I swear to god! I was watching this yesterday wondering if you were ever gonna do a video on it as well!
I was 10 when I saw this in theaters. Yes, it definitely struck a nerve. I still vividly remember it.
Man, I wish Lucas would have played Pinball on the NES with Pinball Wizard played over his gameplay.
Another great video! This was a definite gem in a small period of time of great kids movies.
and I'm still in videoland to this day and not only am I a great gamer but I deserve a spot in the smash bros roster.
Amazing! Thank you for this video! I remember seeing this movie about 15 times in the 80s/90s Minty, please keep the content going!!!
Thanks minty!!!!! I've been trying to remember captain n from forever ago. It's the dog jumping into the tv that reminded me.
Oh mannnnn ....... Captain N!! I completely forgot about that show. Nostalgia is washing over me, right now.
I was in love with Jenny in 1989 and 1990. Not only was she cute, she played video games!
He needs to do more horror like final destination or thee ring
This is one of my favorite youtube channels...you cover all the movies from my childhood
and later in the 90's his brother plays a kid named Corey.
Actually Boy meets World was on in the 90's. The sequel Girl meets World is with his children.
dang, I didn't think it was that early in the 90's LOL
I don't care what anyone says, I love this movie, and not just because I love Nintendo. I feel even "commercials" can be good, and it was a good road comedy/drama, and time capsule of late-'80s/early-'90s culture.
Was born in 76 so ya this was my time I remember bugging my mom to get me super Mario brothers 3 for x.miss needless to say I got it and mastered it right off
Me too. Born in 76. But I didnt care for Super Mario 3. It looked too cheesy. Played Super Mario 1 & 2 mostly.lol
@@scottmatthias5142 hell I still play on a Atari and a caleco vision lol
@@tomtinkersrezlife278 _Ahhh,_ ColecoVision - Lady Bug, Cosmic Avenger, Jumpman JR, Galaxian, Gorf. I'd love to try to play those games now. LOL!
@@scottmatthias5142 That's funny.. I was born in 80. I played all the classics, watched the cartoons, but for some reason I was never hyped for Mario 3 or The Wizard. Never seen the movie.
Mario 2 was one of my favorites, and it wasn't even a Mario game originally.. lol
Whenever I see the famous Reno sign when I stay at Whitney Peak Hotel I think of seeing this movie 30 years ago as a kid at the Ohio Valley Mall.
I said to myself if Minty doesn't blow into it at the start, he sucks. Good to know you don't disappoint.
Ikr lol
Great movie. Watch it with my kids at least once a year.
Nice job Minty! I would love to see a Minty take on Revenge of the Nerds
No need, we got our revenge! Hence the modern era...
Forgot to mention that Lucas ended up being on the RSO list
OMG I love The Wizard, I was born in 88 but I remember watching it from a young age and it's been a favorite of mine since I was a kid!!!
I love the Power Glove......... It's so Bad
Love this movie, Minty thanks for doing these videos. I'm excited each time a new one comes out , thoroughly enjoy all the trivia!
Sadly, there were a lot of NES errors in the movie. There is a TH-cam video that points them out.
Even so, it was enjoyable. They were only able to consult one Nintendo of America employee for information on the games. Ben Cheese, whom was credited in the movie as a game consultant, and he was also a localizer for games like the original StarFox.
I remember always warping the next levels after the 1st because of giving away the 1sr whistle in the movie. 😅👍
'The Wizard' was the 'American Graffiti' of my generation
I finally saw this a few months ago, and no other movie better illustrates being that age at that time. Running around unsupervised, rumors that Japan already has Mario 3, and New Kids playing in every diner. Dude I was shook.
What?!?? No mention of Jenny Lewis becoming a Indy music goddess?
I had a crush on her because of this movie
Jenny Lewis and the News?
Sadly, rumor has it she's a bit sour with the movie, because audience hecklers shout lines from the movie at her during her performances.
Super Mario bros 3 was HIGHLY anticipated! We were waiting forever for it...and for me, this was my first look at it. I loved this movie n still do. My son, who’s 10, loves it too. Kinda cool to see my son like it like me ☺️
"Just sit down and have fun...DAMNIT"
One of the most underrated movies of all time!
New kids on the block.
Oh oh ohohoh
Oh oh ohoh
The right stuff
oh oh ohohoh
oh oreo
what's in the middle
the white stuff
No joke, I think you tapped into my mind and you're reviewing every movie I love!
That Jenny Lewis though
I had a major crush on her from this movie. Jealous when she kissed Fred Savage. lol
I totally forgot about Captain N. All I can remember about that show was him using the glove like a super power.
Love this movie growing up despite the gaming advertisement 😂 it's very close to my heart ❤️ lovely video!
Lucas does NOT have a stereotypical mullet. He just has longer, fuller hair. A mullet is long hair in the back, short hair on the side and the top. That’s why they say “party in the back; business in the front”.
