‘’Remember your family, remember Hayley’’ me shook
You know what's interesting about this scene? How well Marcel know's Elijah in his compulsion. He speaks about the how intrinsic the vow of "always and forever" is to the very core of Elijah and knows that the real him is behind that Red Door so he tells him to open it. It's like when he said to Gia that Elijah's achilles heel is he can't help but fix what's broken. I know we're supposed to understand he was raised by the family but often its seen through the lens of his relationship with Klaus. But here we see how well he knows Elijah.
Marcel was close to Elijah for a while as a kid, he looked up to him!! Elijah was the "good brother" at the time, the best role model!! and thats why marcel looked to him!! Klaus was always lashing out and going around with Kol whenever he was "bored" of elijah and rebekah!! like Marcel said he "always knew" who Klaus even before klaus took him in!!
Their relationship went to shit when Elijah distanced himself in an attempt to soothe klaus's ego!!
What would could've been had he not done what he did!!

I mean Vincent opened elijahs mind so it’s easy to compel him cause you can’t compel an original but marcel can because he’s more powerful than an original and if marcel compelled him to do something simple it would work but he’s trying to get him to let his memories back in and since subconsciously he can venture inside his own mine he has some what control over his own mind so it worked but now Elijah has to choose to access those memories marcel just unlocked him ability to do that
@@Tvvwrld Elijah has over a thousand years of experience even compelling didn't work Caroline's dad so to some degree some people do have "stronger will power" than most I would think someone like Elijah or Klaus would need to "allow" Marcel to do such a thing to them!

Klaus didn't want Elijah to re.member because he knew how painful it would be for him. When Klaus got angry because they tried to undo the compulsion and he got angry because of how much it would hurt Elijah you knew then Klaus had come a long way from when we first met him. Old Klaus would have been like let him feel that pain but even after everything Elijah did because he decided not to think and he rushed headlong intk a decision right after breaking it off with the love of his life. I wanted to just facepalm Elijah for making the decision to forget his memories. Like you STUPID *facepalm* STUPID *facepalm* man! Making rash decisions in the moment of your ultimate heartbreak. Selfish, stupid man. He could have reunited with Hayley since Hope was at a boarding school and he just needed to stay away from New Orleans city limits. Not run off and forget everything. Use a phone! He was alive when they were inventer and he didn't think using one could be of any use. He was supposed to be the smart brother. 🤦♀️

Why would this Elijah do that? Think he's made it pretty clear that E (memoryless Elijah) doesn't want ANYTHING to do with the Mikaelsons, even if its Hayley or Hope. He doesn't feel any guilt for this at all. He's made promises to other people. You talking bout another dude. He aint here no more.
And its still Hope's fault her mother was in that situation in the first place. Aint no getting around that. *shrug*

Wasnt he a coward and asked Marcel to erase his memories of his family and Haley. So Haleys death was his fault. None of the others erased their memories to make it easier to stay away from their family.
Because nobody else was devoted to the family as much as Elijah was. He knew he would never be able to stop himself he anything happened to klaus or his family and that would be dangerous for them. That’s why he wanted to forget them so that situation never arises.
