Hear hear! Please, please, please: write a book so all of us can continue to learn from and enjoy all your triumphs, strugles, and the wisdom that make up your journey together! You two amazing people have surpassed any other channel I have watched on so many levels! Many many blessings and many more adventures to you both my friends!
You two were young but wise beyond your years. Your translated your core values into your lifestyle. So glad your dream continues and you share with us.
Perfect example of the phrase "Time is Money". Which means: when you have money things don't take much time to get done, when you don't have money things take more time (and effort) to get done. If you own something or want to own something it's either you build and maintain it yourself or you pay someone to build and maintain it or they build it and you maintain it. Those who say it's impossible or negative about building a boat don't have the mental stamina, knowledge in different types of engineering and most important the ability to deal with adversity. Much respect for your journey.
I am so happy to know of you I can't believe I have not seen this episode of your anniversary I'm 63 years old and I see you and you're both like children your love is still there and in your eyes your Great Captain jewels and you got a wonderful mate I hope to see you one day God bless you.
Forgot to comment on your first video. I have been overwhelmed with what I have just seen, and must say it is such a lovely story, where I had started mine but got struck down with cancer, so I now get my enjoyment from lovely stories like yours. Thank you so very much.
You folks are having a life that I dreamed about. So interesting to see how you started many years ago. I am 69 now, brought up three children and finally paid off our mortgage. We’re selling the house, Buying a larger boat then our 30 footer and taking off for the Caribbean after hurricane season. It’s a little late to start off on an adventure but you folks have inspired me so much. Thanks! I have enjoyed your videos and learned quite a bit from them.
Oh man, what a life story, a vision, hard work, determination, luck and love, Respect, Respect , Respect. I'm now going to have to watch all your episodes. Fantastic.
Excellent presentation and story telling. Your life has been fascinating. No magic, just honest, hard work, temendous drive, common sense, love and shared optimism. Bravo!!!
In the 80s I lived aboard for 10yrs---I was able to buy a TV from Sears--Black and white--5inch screen also!! Near the end of my livingaboard career I graduated to the Panavision--a 9inch screen, also in Black and white!! Now(40 yrs later) in my second year living in Sequim, with No TV I watch youtube and films from you and many other folks provide me with entertainment and education--Thank you--------Mikey
Hello Jules and Susan, you might not remember me, I met you three years ago in Salt Spring Island B.C. We were anchored near each other in the Ganges harbor. I have a dark blue hull cutter ... a Kelly Peterson. Susan you made some pie or bread for a snack, while I had a tour of the boat. That was a great memory. I follow you from time to time. Wishing you both the best! I hope to see you up here in the future.
Susan, Met your Mom and Doug at Pancake Breakfast. You know where. She said you had built a boat, so I recommended Slocum's Sailing around the world, (my favorite). If you ever come here I would love to meet you. Your videos are like a miracle to me, so great. I admire your optimism, energy and your idealism.
Hi Hugh, Our boat is actually built on the lines of Slocums Spray with a bit of modification...not sure if you knew that or not. Thanks so much for the kind words and happy to hear you're enjoying the vids:)) All the best to you! Suzie and Jules
Every time we watch your video's we find ourselves captivated by your storytelling. If only we had your skill to captivate an audience. Sail Safe! Ant & Cid XX (SV Impavidus)
Your life story is full of wonderful people and experiences. And looking at both of You I can tell - You treat people well and people treat you well in return. I guess that's what life is all about. Thank You for your videos. By the way, recently I acquired a boat of my own. And watching TH-cam channels like yours definitely helped to feed my dream, so to speak. Fair winds and calm seas
What sweet people you are! I just found you during part 1.....and i'm so happy I did! Happy anniversary even though this will be really early and it will be 37 years this year! I love how you saw the good in Fred - and gave him the benefit of the doubt - that he was just miserable and mean because of his 'pending cancer' - we know that's probably not true but still..... this shows your kindness. Your story just keeps on giving! Receiving sails - just gifted - just dropped at your feet!!! Again, your story is one of living with miracles.....someone in the other video said "write a book" and you really should! This is a magical story of intrigue, love and adventure!
Thank you for sharing your experience building your dream - I am building a roberts 43ft steel and I love the determination that the two of you have shown - I am building my yacht in gauteng - 600 km from the ocean and there are days that I have given up - watching the way in which the two of you never gave up has been inspirational - thank you !!
Nothing but admiration for you both. Fearlessly attacking life's challenges each in its turn while maintaining a cheerful can do attitude for all these years. Whenever I need a boost I watch one of your videos. There are a few Freds out there but many more people who want to help. Hope to meet you in person some day. Happy Anniversary Fair winds and following seas.
One day we have to swap stories - I too did electrical for people and spent a decade pay as I go boat upgrade and reno - this was after my wife died so did it all alone - now boat rich and cash poor people say i do not have a big house fancy car etc. but live a humble life free of dept.
Second time I've watched this and it gets better and better. You two took a lot of chances in life and they paid off big time. You have your home, which goes anywhere there is enough water under the keel. You have each other, which can take you anywhere as long as there is love. You have the world at your doorstep! You gave up a lot to do this. Like a mortgage, car payment, insurance, taxes, a heart condition. You have been helped by many over the years, and in turn have paid it forward and helped others as well. And now are a inspiration to others that either want that lifestyle, or can admire it and you. Can't help but comment on most of your videos. They are that kind. The great kind. I suspect Jules doesn't smile much on the videos because he sees it as most of his life, a challenge, something to be taken seriously. Hes a hard man, a ships captain. A man of the sea. Where if your not on top of the game, your dead. The sea has swallowed many a man, and woman. And will continue to do so. It takes a serious man to excel on that lifestyle. Or maybe I'm just reading to much Jack London...... fair winds !
Happy Anniversary. I always look forward to great videos information from you two. Thank you for sharing. May y'all have another 34 years together. Fair winds.
What an amazing lifestyle! I can’t wait to go! I’m from Brazil, but I live in Japan for many years, always thinking about to live outside of the box! For many years doing research’s I end up few years ago in this lifeboat that I believe it fits in my life! Thank you guys for sharing!! Always good luck to you! 🙏🏻
You two are awesome and amazing! Thank you so much for all your time and effort putting these videos together for us to be fortunate enough to get a glimpse into your lives! I agree with ascott. Write a book! I'll buy a copy!
Amazing stuff indeed, holy moly. What is they say ?- "The harder I work, the luckier I get." Yes indeed. And Good Fortune favors the brave & courageous, and you two deserved every bit of it. Now I see there is a part 3, so on to watch that, cheers! 🙏🏼
How often we forget the redemptive power of love! It is important to forgive and to let go and to be free. I was impressed how you came to see Fred in a different light. Your anecdotes are dotted with 'lucky' breaks as you came to interpret and understand them. As a person of faith I can't help but think that your testimony points to the providence of God in our lives. Nonetheless, the world is often our friend and is filled with good and generous people ready to bless us. You have reminded me again of the importance to pay it forward. We can be such a fountain of good and help transform the lives of others often in the simplest of ways.
Very sweet story, I get a lot of enjoyment from your stories and flks could learn a lot about life and relationships from you two--------Mikey, in Sequim
You mentioned the adding of the mast settled your motion down on anchor, funny how that works many years ago I was crewing for an elderly couple and we were dismasted off the east coast of Australia , I’ll never forget how much that boat rolled without the mast Love your story btw
Enjoyed the vid. Maybe some day I could find myself reading Emerald Steel. However, I respect your choice. I love your vids. Thanks for the stories. Sure helped me endure 4 months flat on my back doing meds. Beat it and proud owner of a 24' venture sailboat.
Second best episode I ever watched the first was part 1. Happy anniversary to you both you are both very cool people. May you both live forever and stay together..... Love from Ireland....
Hi, it is a great pleasure to hear your story! I am in a different situation - slowly refitting a factory 38 foot fiberglass boat from 1977. TOday the technology is much different than in your boat making time - but I still take much advice from you - for example, the mixing elbow on my boat will always be out of comercial parts, as you showed... but most of all: when I get/got stuck in the process, I oftem think about your experience you showed here - it really helps me in my determination. BEst regards!
I never get tired of your stories and adventures. Please keep making videos about your cruising lives. Your ups and down's . It's all good. cheers and lots of love your way !
Jules, Happy Anniversary to you and your bride. I had a run-in with a guy like Fred and, like you, I worked in a yard right next to him. It was delicious watching him fret. Plus he would try to instigate a fight but he couldn't get to me anymore. God does bless us but sometimes works in mysterious ways That Snaglepuss lunchbox is probably for small parts, not food. I have to wonder how a gaff rig is less cost than a Marconi. This was a very good video, thank you.
Truly inspiring !! Happy anniversary to you guys !! love the way you have overcomed so much together and it made you closer .... Sending you both a ton of love from France !!
Whenever I listen to Jules and his ability to identify the most cost effective approach to doing things, I think about my father. It is uncanny. Your ingenuity reminds me of the way my dad used to do things. Bravo.
Just wanted to say how much I always enjoy watching You two,What a wonderful story and of course Jules I know you realize how lucky you are because women like Susan are about a one in 1 million. All the best to you both
Jules' story reminds me of my father's story when he came to the US many years ago with a couple of hundred $ in his pocket. He had the same work ethic as you two do. My Dad is gone now but I am always thankful that he brought us to America. Great channel and you have a new sub. Fair winds and write a book.

Love you guys. Jules is the pragmatic engineering type while Susan although very pretty, is very hands on and capable in many, many different ways. I always enjoy seeing the two of you together. Thanks so much for the back story. Although I have seen the other ones that made this one up, it was a nice touch having a front to back version.
