    This piece has to be congratulated on capturing an essence of what karate is to all participants - whether young, old, novice or advanced. It portrays quite effectively, ( without using the more commercially driven visuals - unfortunaly becoming a norm in karate promotion), that karate is from within and its practice affords those who embrace it can enjoy and experience an infinitity of benefits to others and to themselves.

      Problem in the UK and more so America, many clubs are part of large federations where students are pushed into grading early to make money for the federation or owner, children are given black bets when they are way too young, and the styles are very watered down. Not mentioning any names, there was a group of clubs in my part of the country which were a franchise that was all about making money and the style was largely useless for self defence. I left after 4 months when a few other senior members told me the same.

    i simply LOVED this video. as a practitioner of over 30 years,i could not agree more with all that was expressed here.i wish, somehow, the general public(a.k.a the non practitioners and nay sayers) would give this art (and all traditional martial arts) a fair chance to impact their lives and the lives of their children. this video just hit the nail on the head.

      you seem to have already grasped the purpose of martial arts, but i just want to say one thing. don’t get caught up in your belt. it really doesn’t matter. what matters is what you get out of it physically, emotionally and mentally.
      too many students take ranks too seriously and then the art becomes nothing more than a game, focused solely on levelling up.

    • @Benny10001
      @Benny10001 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That_cat21 was that reply to me or a comment on the general video? Either way, I agree with you wholeheartedly. The belt system is a great way of demonstrating progress but it really doesn’t mean anything. Continual repetition of the form is much more beneficial than what you wear around your waist 👍🏼

    El mayor de mis hijos empezó a practicar este hermoso deporte a los 4 años y ahora tiene casi 7 años y el Karate es parte de su estilo de vida. Mi hijo pequeño inició a los 2 años y 2 meses (mi bebé), ahora tiene casi 5 añitos y le encanta. Gracias a este deporte mis hijos tienen excelente condición física y por ende buena salud, les ayuda a concentrarse en la escuela, aprenden a que en la sociedad se siguen reglas y que hay más figuras de autoridad que mamá y papá, que el respeto, la responsabilidad, la disciplina, el razonamiento y la paz es la mejor solución para los problemas de la vida.
