I believe the demise of Barcelona started around the time went they switched jersey sponsors from UNICEF to Qatar Airways. I that point the club sold their philosophy of long term investment to short term instant gains. The academy hasn't produced a regular starting player in a while. Barca just buys the best players without thinking will this player fit with the system they have. They have literally three of the same players on the roster (Messi, Greizman, and Counthino).

Barcelona right now feel like the Real Madrid of the mid to late 2000's, where it's like they stubbornly had to be seen to be getting their man as a point of pride more than anything else. They pursued Coutinho for years and then finally got him and seemed to have absolutely no structure or plan in place on his integration in to the team, and it's been similar to Griezmann. It feels like they've spent a stupid amount of money on a player they didn't really want or have a need for, just as a means to be seen to be flexing their muscles and making a big signing rather than signing what they actually need.

Usually the midfielder or defender is the best way be a captain. It's was prove in many games like Zidane, Requilme, Cafu, Dunga, Thomas Muller, Xabi Alonso, Pirlo, Maldini, Puyol and many. Need to remember middle and last are developing games and finishing striker. If striker concern about middle that's what happens to Messi right now.

Sir Alex Ferguson said many years ago how lucky Barca were to have a squad like they had that comes around once in a generation with the likes of Mess, Xavi, Iniesta, Pique and the like. For me, it's all about Barca walking away from Cruyff's vision. Both on the pitch and at La Masia. Cruyff made Barca into the powerhouse it became, with men like Guardiola basing his strategies on what Cruyff invented. The way youth is developed (focus on enhancing strengths rather then improving weaknesses for instance) is what helped that other Cruyff club Ajax turn over rising star after rising star after rising star. Barcelona are terrible rn but can easily turn it around with a smart board and management
2021
Yeah but this board is so stupid that I'm dreading every decision they make
Laporta should just come back.
It’s crazy to think how a board can change a whole club from being one of the best clubs ever to a club that is a shadow from that
That's what was said about Manchester United back in 2014
I like how Xavi is now the new Messiah. But when Ole got the job at United at the time, he "didn't have the CV for it".
So is anybody going to talk about "CV" now ?
Hm its like saying a donkey is as fast as cheetah
Yeah but usually great players that retire and become coaches hardly have a glistening CV. Even the successful ones
Xavi and Ole didnt have the CV for it
well historically barca has been succesful when using former players as managers. Barcelona tries to maintain a specific style of play so former players can implement it well. Ferguson didnt really have a dictinct style of play that could be emulated. Ferguson was about character, defense, smart gambling, confidence, and other things that cant just be imitated.
This is from a liverpool fan, I think Ole is a good coach for united, I just dont know what his peak is.
@@unnanointedonesufi I actually agree with you. My point was just that it seems that people have different treatments regarding 'similar' situations in football. Sometimes it annoys me. But your point is valid, i have the same opinion.
"Younger" - Griezmann is 29. He's more of the same "buying players deep into their prime" that has plagued Barcelona.
That move was more of Griezmann's doing...He wanted to go there

@@2xAcTiOnXJaCkS0nx He's still 29, meaning he has maybe 3-4 seasons in him before he's completely obsolete.

Real did it with Hazard too...he’s 29
They've strayed from Cruyff's vision, and it shows ...
One massive part of the downfall was Tito's death, the man embodied that old Barça spirit.
bruhmoment No, Tito was a “títere” of Rosell. He was the same as Setien. He let the players do what they want. That explains Bayern 7 Barca 0.
Funny thing. Other things have also fallen over a death of "Tito"
Dude , I agree with this. In that season, I see the peak of Tiki Taka. very fast passing and opponent are very confused against barca, And no man, 7-0 vs Bayern is when Tito was sick that time. It's too coincidence that Pep leaves, or him get sicks.

Plot Twist: Bartomeu knows that he’s going to lose his presidency so he’s sabotaging the club.
He has been sabotaging the club for way too long now. Since the day he let Alves go to juventus for free..since he was aging.. and now the midfield is a century old..
You guys realize that barca was having financial troubles which is why they are selling top players
For years they have invested in players that would fail and would sell for half the price and that definitely doesn't help.
@@The_Antagonist07 The root of all financial trouble at the club can be sourced to the Barca board. It's pretty clear that they are sabotaging the club and have gotten away with it every year

This video was great, it's incredible to see how Barca have fallen in a decade. I think Barca are trying to act like PSG or Man City but they don't know how to make transfers. The club doesn't seem like they have any real deal-makers who know how to negotiate and their finance people don't have the voice they should have in the boardroom. It's like they're caught in a vine trap and every signing they make just winds them more and more until they wont be able to move. That Arthur-Pjanic swap isn't even the first time they've had to cook the books
Before : 11 academy players
Now: 20 mediocre foreigners, 3 academy players and the most obnoxious president after Joan Gaspart
It’s a shame that the board keep splashing out big money galáctico signings every season without a proper plan for them. Coutinho and Griezmann are fantastic players but with no positional role in the team. It largely comes down to poor planning
I’m a Real Madrid fan & this makes me feel a bit sad. I want Real to win the league knowing they did it with a strong Barca team chasing after them.
But, at the same time bantering them for the fall off has been kinda fun 😅

I hope they learn from milan and man utd. Transitions are hard, buying high quality youth while the legends are around is necessary.
Oh boy this aged well...
Adrian giving reference of Talk FCB... Epic crossover ❤️🔥
Yeah, collab maybe?
Who's fault is it? #1 Socis. #2 The board. #3 Messi and FC Friends
No no no. Everyone has a part yes but the players lose control if they are allowed to and they have been allowed by the managers and board too long. If you simply sell the likes of Suarez Alba and the others will solve the issues like that
Qatar Airways as shirt sponsor was fitting. That was the moment they lost their soul. Along with the passing of Tito and (more symbolic) Cruyff)
I feel the same way when I see the Chevrolet logo on the manu jersey. Shitty cars, shitty...
Who cares, its money! You need to run the business side of food ball to feed the actual football.

I knew this could happen it was heart breaking to see how Thier midfield was getting shiter every year and finnaly this year it all showed rip Barca 2006-19.
5:31 I can see this happening now after the 8 - 2 loss. Even if Xavi becomes the coach it could become an impossible task without Messi because if he leaves, what happened to Madrid will happen to them but it will be much worse.

I’d say he’s a blessing more often than he is a curse. He still has more good days than bad days, but my guess is that he’ll soon start to have more and more bad days, and eventually more bad days than good ones. At which point he’ll become a liability to whichever club he’s in.

However with Barca it's different, The glory years are the anomaly, not the rule. Gotta look back prior to 2000 to realize this.
What fans should be concerned of however is the fact that historically (pre 2008) Barcelona never really had the kind of era they had 2008-2015, they don't have anything to look back on in terms of handling the situation that is and has been coming at them for the past 4 years or so.
