They were awesome! Probably one of the more frustrating meals we've made while camping, which took a lot of extra editing. Glad we finally figured out our mistakes
Used that same pizza crust. I cut the dough into squares. Stretched out one square and put it on the “bottom” half of the pie iron. Then put all the ingredients in and then took another square and stretched that over those ingredients. Once you put it into the fire and flip it will pretty much conform to the space as it is still relatively soft. So basically no need to put ingredients into both halves of the pie iron when preparing pizza.
So I'm looking at my stats this morning on my Callahan house video. And I look to see what is suggesting my video. And guess what it's this video your campfire video LOL thank you for indirectly sending traffic to my channel. Lol
Don't let foodstuffs overlap the edges of the pie iron, especially on the hinge side, otherwise you'll keep breaking the hinge ears off because of the strong wedge and lever action. Cast iron is a brittle metal, take a sledge hammer to it you'll find it hard like ceramic but it breaks into rough fractured chunks like low fired clay pottery.
Our kids love mountain pies for dinner and also chocolate between bread for dessert. We will have to try this. New to your channel. Thanks for sharing. This looks amazing.
Turquoise Lake. Molly Brown Campground. We’ve stayed at the same campsite several times. The wind off the lake can be pretty strong at times but the view is always amazing.
Looks yummy, thanks for sharing the mistakes as well.

My favorite part about camping... eating! This looks like something I need to make next time.

Colorado Martini We must have multiple subscribers in common. It’s interesting how TH-cam works.
Bought some pie irons thinking it would just be a gimmick item.....But We’ve used them to make pizzas very similar to these many times! Love it 😊
I grew up eating fruit pies made in them and just recently started making meals in them. So many possibilities...
That looks good. Can t wait to try this myself. That is a great looking campground. Thank you for the videos it makes planning vacations to CO easy.
One of our favorite campgrounds. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

3rd times a charm i suppose. Good stuff.
Approximately how long do you leave the pie irons in the fire before flipping them over to cook the other side?
Depends on the coals. About 2 minutes if you have it hot enough.
You know I've used the waffle iron before for desserts and pizza. But I never thought of using diced ham!
Use the leftover ham in some breakfast omelettes. 2 uses for every ingredient if possible
