Several years ago I committed to living a clutter free lifestyle. I have decluttered not only physical items but emotional as well. Today I am a totally different person. And I’m pleased to say I do all your tips. Thanks for the great videos, they really keep me on track.
Yes! You're the first person I know of, other than myself, who uses the washing machine as the hamper. We don't wear fancy clothes. I rarely have to sort things.
I did a minimalism challenge last month, June 1 I got rid of 1 item. June 2, two items. June 3 three items etc all the way through the month! I ended up decluttering over 400 items and my house feels SO MUCH better!
I loved your “fill my bank account” challenge idea versus the “freeze” or “no spend”. You are so right concerning our human nature-we want to rebel but love a challenge to prove them wrong. I definitely feel motivated by “fill my bank” versus “don’t spend any money”! Great, great tip!
I have been decluttering for 3 weeks. The only things on my kitchen counters is keurig, toaster oven, and knife block. I reduced things on the bathroom vanity to zero. I do laundry every day so hamper in each bathroom is no problem for 2 people living here. 2 pair of shoes in space for them beside the door good enough. I finally have main spaced decluttered and under control, but will be slowly finishing the extra bedroom, remaining closets and garage over the next months.
We homeschool and I find running the dishwasher overnight and emptying in the morning makes my morning more frazzled before starting the day's lessons. I have started a "nightly reset" which includes running the dishwasher immediately after dinner and emptying it before bed. I'll wipe down the table and counters at the same time and it makes my mornings so much more peaceful.
Live full time in an rv and even though we have limited storage space I still make room for the appliances in the cabinet because it makes the space seem so much cleaner when the counter is clear
My grown sons are always welcome to shop at my little ranch house. So any extra supplies get taken and used. The Pantry, freezer, and linen closet are lightened on a regular basis! I am happy to help out in these small ways. We are in a country area, so boots are in a boot tray in the garage as you come into the kitchen. We mat on both sides of entrances. We donate weekly to the Food Bank and local charities , a feel good that keeps us current as well.
Hi loved these tips- I have never had a dishwasher but I agree a sink full of dirty dishes ugh - better to hand wash immediately so much easier than cleaning off old food - btw you look lovely in that red top 🌺 ❤️🌹 have a lovely weekend 🥰💖
I have a small toaster oven on the counter. I would leave it in the cabinet, but my family vetoed me on that one! I just have it a hidden in a corner next to the fridge so it can't be seen unless you're in the kitchen. That was my compromise. I also have pillows on my couch. We use them daily, but I "reset" the couch every day to keep it looking nice. My biggest tip is teach your kids to do laundry at a young age. My son loved helping me around age 2, so I let him. By age 3 he could run the washer by himself. He's 14 now and I haven't touched his laundry in over a decade. He even does all his bedding. Just make sure to teach them to put it away as soon as it's done.
My favourite project my husband did was to create a laundry chute (on the bedroom level, going straight down to the laundry room). It eliminated the need for dirty clothes hampers and there was an element of fun in chucking the clothes down the chute. If your home layout allows for it, I highly recommend a laundry chute.
Great points to setting up life & home 🏡. Growing up in the 50's & 60's with mom as a homemaker & role model was the best. Following generations didn't always have that, so this advice is that we learned is so helpful to them . One thing I might offer, which I'm sure you do, is to Tidy As You Go ... SO important ! 😇 kj
Some great ideas here! I'm not able to hide anything though, as my kids all have ADHD. That means everything has to be as easy as possible to put away. So no drawers or lids, just lots of baskets that can be accessed without having to pull them out. It might be more cluttered for some, but any other way just doesn't work for us. Love your channel!
I converted an entire shelf in my pantry (which is a converted built in desk alcove from the 70s) & made it the small appliance parking lot! The only appliance on my kitchen counter is my kettle. I started doing pour over & love the coffee as well as the keurig free countertop!
Recently I just started inventory checklist for the kitchen with categories list also making sure don't have duplicates of a lot of stuff. It's helpful to keep track of stuff so I'm not over buying things that I don't need and also getting rid of things when it's just about ready to expire.
My home has throw pillows, I will never get tired of putting the couch or my bed together. I feel it makes my home warm and cozy. Not so stark. I love you're channel. ❤
I have just found your channel today. Oh my goodness, I am SO glad I found you. Every channel I find is all about farmhouse decor or cluttered decor. Nothing wrong with farmhouse, but I'm just tired of watching those channels. I want simplicity, less is more. Your channel is just what I needed. I have subscribed and will be going back and watching all your previous videos. Thank you!
The only appliances on our kitchen counter are a small coffee maker and our Ninja Foodi. I used to keep *everything* out, but now all other appliances live in a cabinet or the pantry. What a difference! Our Foodi gets used at least four times a week, so it's earned that real estate! 😊
My feedback - our children are grown so it’s easier now to live Minimalish. I have never been a maximalist. We lived a simple but exciting life with our family and had loads of life experiences. Our cottage is small compared to American standards. (Built before the War of Independence) It soon messy with being small so we have place for everything. Do not have Dishwasher or Dryer. My kettle, smoothie maker and toaster live on worktop. I love throw cushions too and try and tidy every night. It’s nice to come down in a morning and see it tidy. I do not chop mine in the middle!! I started the Swedish death clean last year as am 65. I rather have our spare money in bank so we can visit my Sister in Florida every year now starting next. We love America and the people but there are a lot of differences. My Sister has a closet bigger than our small bedroom and a pantry like a store (hurricane supplies) Will stop now as this turning into an Essay. Keep up the good work
The blanket covering the toy basket, can be used as the play area. I’m Currently using a rug, I have told my granddaughter that she must keep her toys on the rug. If it’s more than what fits on the rug, she has to put some away. I’m loving this idea. ! It’s working. !
Your the only other person who does the laundry just like me!!!! Lol people give me this crazy look when I tell them we wash everything together (we are a family of 9) and yet I’ve NEVER had a problem. Plus Im a knitter and after working with yarn and dye and learning how dyes work and how different they used to be, now they are synthetic and take to fabrics so different then natural or older dyes. So basically people are doing laundry like that out of habit, not really reason anymore.
The only appliance I keep out is my small juicer, it lives by the sink where is is always plugged in and I use it every day, if I have to get it out I won’t use it, I rinse the top an put it back on to drain done.
I absolutely love love love your advice. A few things I've figured out myself, like laundry directly into the machine and running the dishwasher overnight and emptying it first thing in the morning. But omg, I'm implementing all of the other tips for sure! Thank you!
Love this! 🥰 I have found myself doing many of these habits already between becoming more minimal and starting to incorporate the flylady system. It’s amazing how some simple routines daily can keep your house feeling clean and at peace! To your questions - appliances we only keep two on the counter - a large stand mixer that doesn’t fit in our small kitchen and my beautiful red kettle that I use daily and I think looks nice on the stove top. We use to keep a lot more but after entering minimalism I realized why not put the toaster away every time?!? Is it really that hard? No!! 😛 YES to pillows! Not many but I love them and I just have gotten in the habit of fixing the couch through the day and in my 2-5 minute power tidy at night!
I only keep the ones on my kitchen counter said I use multiple times a day like my Keurig for my toaster. And I always leave my KitchenAid mixer out because I think it’s beautiful and it’s heavy LOL and I do use it at least a few times a week.
I literally pulled a muscle getting mine out one day lol!!! I actually sold it because everything I needed it to do, I could do with my hand mixer. I just personally disliked washing and putting it away.
@@novocaine09 Same here I prefer a hand mixer it's just as convenient and easier to clean! I've also donated my juicer and other gadgets involving too much cleaning.🤗
I like the throw pillows, very colorful, adds life to a space, just not the overly karate chopped look, reminds me of fox or cat ears, like... theres a family of fox heads on your sofa...is it just me?? Probably!
What has helped me after I decluttered a big portion of my house. When I bring something into the home , something must go out. It has worked for me for sure. So if I do shop for a piece of clothing it forces me to think about which piece of clothing I have to get rid of.
I have a very small kitchen but since decluttering I can fit all my appliances in my cupboard. I use to tell myself that I don't have cupboard space but in reality I was just justifying why I didn't want to get rid of things that needed to go. Now I don't need to do that anymore.
I keep my espresso maker and a kettle out on the kitchen counter. I bought an air fryer that I LOVE on Prime Day and I am trying to decide whether I will leave it out or find a spot. I have been using it daily or even twice a day. I do not enjoy having decor in the kitchen on counters.
I’ve been doing that same exact laundry technique for 10 years. Zero hampers. They go straight into the washing machine like you said, everyone’s clothes, lights and darks. I wash them and dry them and fold them and put them away all in one day. I do a load a day and stay on top of the laundry!
We do laundry once every two weeks 😂 If this week the darks are getting washed, we wear the lights, if the lights are getting washed, we wear the darks. We have plenty of clean underwear to last any wash cycle but it cuts down on the bill, and is friendlier to the environment
Coffee pot stays on the counter. We don’t have a lot of counter space but I use it every single day so I don’t want to load a keurig into the cabinet every day 😩 but everything else has a place inside a drawer or cabinet! ☺️
I never thought to put stuff directly into the laundry!!!! What an awesome idea and I'm going to try that method, my number 1 annoyance is laundry everywhere and my kids are the same in missing the hamper 80% of the time 🙈
Still struggling with clutter on kitchen tops ie Microwave, toaster, mail rack(near top with stamps, papers etc), pen pot ( as always jotting down things), Eco.dot, glass jar to hold all my wooden spoons, another glass jar to hold jar opener, bottle opener, can opener) etc. Gosh this has made me realise just how much stuff I have and there's just me 🤔🙄.
I have several appliances on the counter. They really do add clutter. I love the tips! I'm going to see what I can do to get a few appliances off the counter. I have to sort Landry! It's a thing.
I keep the toaster on the counter because I do t want the crumbs sprinkling around. No matter how much I try, they’re an issue. I also process my mail immediately and challenge myself to pay bills each morning or as soon as I have a couple. Then I never have a stack. I also enjoy putting stamps on and mailing. It’s like a reward. Most up pay online. Thanks for all these awesome tips !
I have a really small kitchen with not many cupboards or pantry. I only keep the appliances that we actually use regularly. I decluttered enough so I could store them away I only keep my toaster and kettle on the worktops and we use them multiple times a day. Need to work more on the flat surfaces but much better than it used to be.
We moving house soon and I've decided I'm switching from 4 hampers to direct in the washing machine, daily wash. Maybe I should implement it right now!... I'm scared to take the plunge!
Laundry to the laundry room... yes ma'am! Appliances used daily are on the counter. Couch together, all.the.time. mhmm! Four throw pillows and one blanket, here.
I keep the appliances that I use daily since it’s easier for me than pulling them out everyday. So I keep my Vitamix, toaster and juicer out. The only other thing on my counters is the fruit bowl. I feel like my kitchen still looks tidy and clutter free! And I do wipe down the appliances, it really makes a difference. Great video!
Hello! New subscriber! I’m loving your videos, thank you! I keep pillows on my couch but we always move them whenever we sit down 🤷🏼♀️… where did you get your beautiful couch? ty for sharing
The only appliances I keep on the counter are the coffee maker and my food chopper. These are both used multiple times daily and putting them away would be cumbersome. For laundry, we divide into 3 categories by weight: lightweight, heavy and linens
Great ideas! Love your videos, and always watch them as soon as I see them! When it comes to shoes… I just can’t stop thinking about how dirty shoe soles become while we walk on the streets. I would rather store shoes in a system that keeps the shoe soles always against a single surface. A single surface can be cleaned and sanitized periodically, and the dirty shoe soles need not touch the cleaner parts of the other shoes. I like putting shoes sole-side-down in a styrene set of drawers, ideally after having wiped the shoes off first. This set of drawers would go in a closet. Also, Ikea makes some nice, very slim shoe bins, and you can customize them. They can look great in your entryway, taking up very little floor space.
I keep my coffee pot and toaster oven out Bcuz I use them all the time. They’re both fairly small tho. Not sure I’m capable of mixing lights and darks in the wash. Ha ha. The smart washer adjusts the amount of water tho so it’s no big for me and I like really small loads Bcuz they seem less intimidating to me.
Let's not talk about the couch 😭🤣. My living room is my terror room. My MIL rescued and fostered dogs, and sadly we lost her in an accident. No one would take the 3 dogs, so we did. They were abused badly before being rescued, and they are good dogs. The problem is that 2 will not potty train. They always go in the living room. This is ridiculous, but I have to keep our recliner on the coffee table / couch so it won't be ruined! I try to find them a good home, but a year and a half and no luck. The local shelter is a high kill, so we don't want to take them there.
Can you confine them to a limited area? I have a similar situation and I bought a heavy duty plastic toddler corral and a cheap piece of vinyl flooring for them to stay on.
God bless you! We also saved two newborn kittens, one didn't make it, to our regret, it was a miracle the other survived. It is a real blessing to have him as part of the family ever since... ❤️
Hand wash I do not have a dish washer. I will wash right after lunch and dinner. Before bedtime I will towel dry as many dishes as I can, put away. Next morning will put away bigger item, insert pot of my rice cooker from my electric rice cooker. Just share😄. Use Colour catcher no need to worry colour run if too lazy to sort out before each laundry cycle.
We have kettle, toaster and coffee machine on the counter - but it isn’t big and still feels cluttered - but we use it all the time so needs to be there
ideas for working parents especially with both working outside the home to take on this clutter free concept, we have 1 day a week that we aren't working and we allow things to pile up cause we would rather spend the time with our kids doing things while they are small than cleaning the house then we get stressed out cause we didn't, it's a crazy cycle help!
Hi. Literally just found your channel. Watched video and have subscribed immediately…. Your content is Exactly what I am looking for in these days of excess. Look forward to ‘seeing’ you again 👍🏼🙏🏼👍🏼
Unfortunately I have a microwave on my counter and a coffee pot- because it’s a Bunn and they are huge 🤦🏼♀️ Like you, pillows and candles- I got to have! 😅
Two of my biggest changes is having only one hamper and no laundry baskets. I do one load of laundry per day and with no laundry baskets, it is put away immediately. I actually enjoy doing laundry and do not feel overwhelmed anymore. Thanks for your channel, I really appreciate your advice.
I love, love, love your living room colors. I have similar colors, but brown couches and black accents. I want to brighten things up, but very nervous to go with light couches. How do you keep them so clean?? (I just bought an off-white slipcover from Amazon last night to see how it will look.) Love your blue curtains too! 😍
Thank you so so much for this post! I'm following this for a month in the hopes that it sticks FOREVER! Also, Where did you get that ADORABLE pink sweater throw in your bedroom? It is so cute!!!
I just have my mixer. And my rooster decoration on my kitchen counters. Shoes in the entry way drive me bonkers now I have a shoe caddy under my entryway table.
Hello ~ Love your videos, just subscribed. Could you please tell me about your kitchen counter ? I think it’s laminate (love it), But what company, name of it?? Thank you so much ~
Thank you so much for subscribing! I'm excited to have you here!!! My countertops are laminate (we went through Richmond American Homes) and it's just a white and grey marble. :)
@@FancyThatwithCandice thank you so much for your answer ~ But there are so many different name brands 😞 Is it Fomica Carrara marble? Or other brand?? As a beginner minimalist, Try to change kitchen counter top from dark color to bright color. Your kitchen counter is exactly what I was looking… Thank you again 😊
I live on my own there is no way I would put all my clothes in washer together. I do washing every day I do couple of light washes towels etc couple of dark washes trousers etc. I also do hand washing my bras my sweaters and delicate tops. Then there’s bedding and my cats blankets get washed once a week. I must admit I love washing.
I have appliances both on counter and stowed away. We also have a bread box, fruit bowl, potatoes and onions on the counter, with our kitchen aid mixer and coffee pot.. oh and microwave. I cannot stand it😩
@@FancyThatwithCandice hard to do away with the breadbox because I bake it from scratch so there’s not a great other option. The potatoes and onions are in cute wire baskets😄
I prefer my counters to be clear. No decor. Easy to clean. In the bathroom, I have a soap dispenser and a lotion bottle on the sink counter. My husband's shampoo, etc is in a decorative container that sits on the toilet tank. Everything else is in the cabinet, in a drawer, in the medicine cabinet, or in the hall linen closet. In the kitchen, I have a soap dispenser by the sink. Nothing else is on the counters, except our microwave, which sits on a small counter next to the fridge, separate from the main counter. Our only other small appliances are a toaster and a crockpot, which I keep in a cabinet. I arranged a few of my decorative items in the cabinets that have glass doors. Visually pretty. No maintenance.

I absolutely adore your blouse! Where did you get it?
Thank you!!! TJ MAXX!!
I have coffe maker and toaster on counter since i am handicapped and is too much to move them since i use them every day
I never thought to put stuff directly into the laundry!!!! What an awesome idea and I'm going to try that method, my number 1 annoyance is laundry everywhere and my kids are the same in missing the hamper 80% of the time 🙈
The older I get...the more I detest clutter. 🤪
Me, too!!!!
Yay. Great vid in time for my morning coffee. Ty for all u do. ♥️♥️♥️
This was outstanding.
Wow! So kind of you!
I do keep my coffee pot on my kitchen counter, but it's not huge and I use it every single day. The look of it makes me happy. ♡
Love your system!
My Keurig and can opener are always on my counter top.💓
Sounds perfect!
Just cleared one cupboard to store rice cooker and air fryer and I love it! Love all these tips and new subbie x
So happy to have you here!
Progress is all that matters!!! Thanks for being here!
My toaster and can opener fit in a plastic bin in an upper cabinet. I pull it out as needed. They stay in the bin, never put them on the counter!
Have to use counter for appliances
I know what that's like!! So great that you do have somewhere to put them!! Hugs!
Could you please explain the "Fill Your Bank Account" concept. Thanks.
We moving house soon and I've decided I'm switching from 4 hampers to direct in the washing machine, daily wash. Maybe I should implement it right now!... I'm scared to take the plunge!
The minute I put pillows on the couch, my dog rushes to bat them onto the floor.
That's too cute!
Yes, does make a big difference!
I keep my appliances put away with the exception of my instapot. I love your videos!!
Hello! New subscriber! I’m loving your videos, thank you! I keep pillows on my couch but we always move them whenever we sit down 🤷🏼♀️… where did you get your beautiful couch? ty for sharing
So happy to have you here!!! We got our couch at RC Willy :)
The only appliances I keep on the counter are the coffee maker and my food chopper. These are both used multiple times daily and putting them away would be cumbersome.
For laundry, we divide into 3 categories by weight: lightweight, heavy and linens
I love watching your channel! You're just so bubbly and cute. 😊
You're so sweet! Thanks for watching!
Ahhh I totally see what you mean!
Bless you 💜
Can you confine them to a limited area? I have a similar situation and I bought a heavy duty plastic toddler corral and a cheap piece of vinyl flooring for them to stay on.
See if you can reach out to a dog trainer for help
Bless your heart! I have one rescued dog with major anxiety. It is hard!
God bless you! We also saved two newborn kittens, one didn't make it, to our regret, it was a miracle the other survived. It is a real blessing to have him as part of the family ever since... ❤️
Hand wash I do not have a
dish washer.
We have kettle, toaster and coffee machine on the counter - but it isn’t big and still feels cluttered - but we use it all the time so needs to be there
YES! Sounds like you have the perfect set up!
ideas for working parents especially with both working outside the home to take on this clutter free concept, we have 1 day a week that we aren't working and we allow things to pile up cause we would rather spend the time with our kids doing things while they are small than cleaning the house then we get stressed out cause we didn't, it's a crazy cycle help!
Hi. Literally just found your channel. Watched video and have subscribed immediately…. Your content is Exactly what I am looking for in these days of excess. Look forward to ‘seeing’ you again 👍🏼🙏🏼👍🏼
Ahhh I'm so happy!!! Excited to have a new friend here!
Unfortunately I have a microwave on my counter and a coffee pot- because it’s a Bunn and they are huge 🤦🏼♀️
Like you, pillows and candles- I got to have! 😅
I LOVE your personality! Just finding you and am hoping to learn some good habits. 😉💚
So happy you enjoyed watching!
I get all of my bills electronically now, so probably 90% of my physical mail now is junk mail which goes straight in to the trash can or shredder.
Love your ideas
Your shirt is sooo cute. Where did you get it. Thanks for this video, it’s great!
Thank you! TJ Maxx...my go to store!
I love throw pillows - I tidy it all the time as my kids throw it off, but it looks so nice 😍🤣
Agree!! It looks so pretty and is worth the effort!
how did you train your kids to put the clothes into the washer?
It's just making a little effort each day that makes long lasting habits!! You've totally got this! And the blanket is from Amazon!
I like toys on long low bookshelves w each toy having a place.
I love this!
i dont have space to keep the appliances in the cabinets
I have totally been there before!
Where did you get your kitchen canisters? They are really cute.
Taret!
@@FancyThatwithCandice Thank you!!
I just have my mixer. And my rooster decoration on my kitchen counters. Shoes in the entry way drive me bonkers now I have a shoe caddy under my entryway table.
Hello ~
Love your videos, just subscribed.
Could you please tell me about your kitchen counter ?
I think it’s laminate (love it),
But what company, name of it??
Thank you so much ~
Thank you so much for subscribing! I'm excited to have you here!!! My countertops are laminate (we went through Richmond American Homes) and it's just a white and grey marble. :)
@@FancyThatwithCandice thank you so much for your answer ~
But there are so many different name brands 😞
Is it Fomica Carrara marble?
Or other brand??
As a beginner minimalist,
Try to change kitchen counter top from dark color to bright color.
Your kitchen counter is exactly what I was looking…
Thank you again 😊
I thought we were the only ones who did this. We r the same way with Putting directly in the washer to LOL
💖💖💖
Thanks for being here!
Clutter to me equals the stress 👍👍👍👍
I live on my own there is no way I would put all my clothes in washer together. I do washing every day I do couple of light washes towels etc couple of dark washes trousers etc. I also do hand washing my bras my sweaters and delicate tops. Then there’s bedding and my cats blankets get washed once a week. I must admit I love washing.
We downsized and I miss the huge kitchen I had because now I do need to keep a few appliances out.👎🏻
I have appliances both on counter and stowed away. We also have a bread box, fruit bowl, potatoes and onions on the counter, with our kitchen aid mixer and coffee pot.. oh and microwave. I cannot stand it😩
That is tough...can you do away with the bread box and store the potatoes and onions in nice little containers (not together :)
Keeping it to just the essentials is SO nice!!! I love that you are able to enjoy your decorative items and keep them off the counters!
Sorry, off subject, but I must say your makeup is impeccable. I don’t even like makeup nor wear it, but if I did I would want it to look like that.
Ah you're so sweet! Thank you!!!!
Everyone walking around in gray shirts that started out white are like “Great laundry tip!” 😳
