‘Murica 1776 I payed around 3,800 and another $1.200 on scope and red dot to interchange on what I’m doing that day. I’m sure the ak bullet would miss before one shot from the scar would go right to the dome! I’d rather be carrying the scar imo lol.

The ak47 is plenty accurate. The only reason people think it’s not is because it’s usually being used by sand people shooting it over their heads and making ferocious turkey sounds.

Last weekend there was a Gun Show in my country (Perú), went to the FN stand... Asked them when they would export the 16S and 17S or any other civilian marketed products to other countries... The FN man answered in an evident tone of angry/annoyance *"NEVER!!"*
And the only SCAR I got it was an emotional one...

Holy crap. You have a shooter here doing his part. He's doing his part as a shooter. Adjusting as he shoots. When you have a perfect shooter it really shows off the accuracy of FN's. Ive been shooting for years and its still fascinating to see this stuff. Life and liberty rifle for sure.
For those still watching this video on a monthly basis, just picked up a 20s 2 days ago, the current version of the owners manual specifically labels the 10 o'clock piston setting as the suppressor setting. But will still void your warranty if you suppress it. Lol

@@Turb0wned This is the reason for the price, when you thought that the old FN Fal is still in all wars, using very poor quality materials the price will decrease by 60%, FN offers military grade pistol rifles for civilians, a rifle for several generations, you can compare a Rolex watch, it's the same policy, I have a Diana rifle 70 joules more expensive than some Assault rifles

I still enjoy watching Iraqveteran8888 every time he uploads a new video. Scars seem great weapons, but they're expensive.

The SCAR is a weapon I've wanted for years, and the 20S just makes me want it more. Hope by the time I can afford one, then have the bugs worked out of the 6.5 Creedmoor version.

I think for tan, having multiple shades actually looks better than if it was all the exact same shade.

@@Locutus494 I have heard from military testing that flat colours are more effective for concealment, but I'm sure there are variables.
@@MrHouse-fo1od Yes, the military wants all its new small arms and gear to be some shade of coyote/tan. And there certainly are variables; tans are particularly hard to match anodizing, which is why tan anodized products have such a variation from example to example.

How about a video with the newer 1:10 twist and compare various ammo brands and grains.
This rifle is very interchangeable and accurate .. And all around conversion powerhouse! The only down side is the weight..

The one thing the 20 is missing from the 17 is the three slots on the top that open up for a split second during fire. For some reason that is so frickin cool!

Shoot 6.5 creedmoor
with a 1/12" twist and a 20" pipe I'd imagine that sexy thing would run pretty beautifully with Lapua 155gr Scenars.. I recall Chad mentioning one time he was gonna cook some recipes for that round to be shot out of your 5R's.? That FN is a very nice rig overall.. Like a priced toy for slamming steel out to 700-800m..

Mac already did a video of the Scar 17 vs LWRC Reaper and the scar posted a tighter group.
Nick Hermann : I think Eric & Chad can probably shoot better long distance than Mac....22 plinkster vs Hickok or Paul Harrell would be an interesting matchup as they’re all excellent marksmen. Any matchup period would be cool to watch tho!

Just bought the scar 20s put a nightforce ATACR 4x16x42 amd a trijicon red dot with offset mount and an atlas bipod. Got about $7700 in it. Also have a saiga converted .308. They both serve a purpose. I wouldn’t want to get in a long distance shootout with the saiga bs a scar though.

FN removed mention of suppressor settings as the 17 was breaking bolt carriers when shooting suppressed. FN would not warranty the BCG. was a big todoo about a year or 2 ago

Micro electronics are so cheap now that you would be semi dispoable.
I think the military experimented with in the 1960s but never found a civilian use.

Hard to justify for me and most other civilians when you can build or even buy a factory ar10 that holds sub moa and is stupid reliable for 1/2 the price. Notice I said for ME not for military.
"If you're going to buy a SCAR, I'd recommend you keep an extra charging handle laying around" or, you know, do what FN and 90% of everyone else recommends and get the non-reciprocating charging handle conversion kit that now FN even sells the 20S with if you ask for it.

Pretty sweet rifle, but no way for that price. With good ammo I'm getting pretty similar results from my AR-10 build, for 1/3 the price or so.

For me, ranged shots are all id ever use a 17s for anyway, and for that purpose, the 20s is better in almost every way. I've held off buying a scar for years just because the 17s was a scope killer and you really wanted to spend the extra on the "super scar" trigger that the 20s already has built in. I just recently found out about the 20s, and im strongly considering the pick up. Especially if you can get one for ~$3500.
Kinda just depends on you man, if making ranged shots is what you enjoy, i would probably say that you could just sell the 17s and pick a 20s up, its a straight upgrade. But that's your call xD
I have both, share the same ammo, mags, most of the parts are interchangeable. So logistical it makes sense, I say go for it.

See, the only other way around it is to put a geissle trigger into your 17 with a Magpul stock. Then go and spend about $1k. On a 20+" barrel (could get a better twist/ in creedmoor) and another $200 on an upper receiver extension. You'd end up with basically the same rifle, but with the ability to swap calibers and lengths around.
I've been talking to the owner of dead shot barrels, which is why I bring this up. For future reference, if you want a 20s rebarreled with a. Different twist/ caliber it will run you about $500. Or I guess they have a creedmoor 20s available for $4400 on GunBroker.

Without a 20s 6.5 CM conversion I would love to see the suggested comparison b/t the 17 and 20. The standard Geissele trigger on the 20 helps with justification in price difference
They are so different in weight/ size and handling. Completely built for different purposes.
If you need a versatile BR, SCAR 20 just won't fit the bill. Then if you need a bench rig, the 17 won't give you any benefit to say the least.
Buy the one you need. Or just get something else of value is a priority.
