He passed on the gloves. The dagger is only BIS with the gloves. Therefore he wasn't intending on going daggers until the dagger dropped. Even Esfand, whom has nothing to gain from either outcome, conceded that Grenades shouldn't get the dagger.

I agree the rogue that rolled highest should have gotten it. This logic about 'he should have already had a dagger' was just brainstormed up in hindsight to justify their bickering and doesn't hold up to any analysis of the situation. I'm not even saying he was the best rogue to get the dagger. Obviously if they had a loot council and had all this planned out the other rogues would be in consideration first to get it. The point is they specifically choose not to loot council, and to do roll offs instead. It's inherent to the system when you do roll offs that the 'most deserving' player isn't always going to win the roll. Rolling is a trade off for simplicity - anyone that the item is an upgrade for fights over it and you get the loot distributed in minutes at the cost of it maybe not going to the person who its the biggest upgrade for. You don't call for a roll, then form an ex post facto Loot Council on the fly. Just honor the roll and next time have loot distributed by a loot council if truly you want to make sure the 'best' person wins it. That's what those are for.
Asmon admitted the problem - Himself. He said he wanted to just do Roll offs because it's easy, but also wants the loot to go to the very best person it can, and he even said on stream he just hoped that players would self-impose loot council type logic on themselves, and not roll on things when the item is a better upgrade for someone else. That's ignorant and irresponsible as a leader. If the guild master wants items to go to the best choice then assign loot beforehand via some system like a loot council. He wanted the results of a well ran guild with good leadership, without having to actually lead it.
Got to respect the roll if you put it out for roll. The mistake was rolling then deciding you didn't like who won.

Just because he doesn’t have daggers doesn’t mean a single thing. There’s really no better daggers until MC and Dal’rends are solid up until then. And why would a rogue not have priority on a weapon but a fury warrior can roll on swords, daggers, axes and 2h weapons. Even if perds is a 5-10 dps increase than DB why is he complaining so much.

If you're a swords rogue and are planning on going daggers you ALWAYS save the best dagger you have. That way once a dagger drops that pops you over from swords you already have both daggers ready to go. If he doesn't have any daggers then he's what, single-wielding a dagger?
It's one bag space, you always carry the best of another weapon type if you're hoping to switch.

This whole thing is Asmon not understanding vanilla. Its not like you "choose" to be swords or daggers, you spec what the best weapons you have available to you. Which is exactly why there are so many more sword rogues in BWL, because there are no good daggers there, and you got CTS, maldath, and AQR just around the corner off of fankris only the third boss in AQ40, where as you go from perds blade all the way to pugio which is post twemps loot.

The offhand doesn't really matter. The offhand weapon accounts for less than 30% of your total dps.

So, rolling on the +dagger skill gloves without having any daggers is clearly not kosher; however, rolling on a BiS dagger with the intention of going daggers while sword spec currently to maximize your DPS (even if you don't have another dagger banked) seems more than reasonable given the rarity of good daggers to support the spec at this stage in the game. That being said, you don't roll off an item then arbitrarily decide to give it to someone else because you don't like the outcome of the roll.

@Specoli I know that feeling. I was offtank in Wrath at the start of the expac and the main tank alllways got everything first. He was the raid lead so he just got it. Once we got into ulduar he quit playing and left us with out a tank and I had to main tank with crap gear.

@@sebastiansvensson9638 Not the same thing at all. Healing and damage dealing is 2 different roles. It's common for Rogues to start out Combat Swords as it's the better dps spec until you get decent gear and weapons as you can't really get good daggers before raiding.

Always respect the roll, if you decide you are going for rolls then only rolls should matter. He was sword spec because he had good swords, but then a bis dagger dropped so he rolled for it figuring if he won it he'd switch to daggers. Since "switch to daggers" just amounts to a quick respec and running 1-2 dungeons for a blue off hand dagger (or going to the AH) its pretty reasonable to believe him that he'd do it especially when the first thing they say is this guy is dependable and has always shown up to raids for awhile now.
I'd probably gquit if I always showed up to raids consistently and did what I was supposed to do (including passing on bis dagger gloves when there are 2 dagger rogues in raid like he did), then the GM basically tells me "Nope I don't believe you'd put in the 5 minutes of work I think you are just going to vendor this, so even though you won them I'm giving them to my friend instead"

If it's free rolls it's free rolls. You can't start the raid with free rolls then when your buddy loses the roll on an item, move the goalposts and loot council the item to him. If the raid would've started off in loot council that's 1 thing, but changing it after you kill last boss is another. You can't roll on dagger because you don't have the gloves but you can't roll on gloves if you don't have dagger, Catch 22.

rewatching this video as of 2022, I understand asmon's inner conflict but as an officer of a guild since tbc release, I believe the dagger 100% should've went to Grenades. I messed up on loot during p1 as well, if it doesn't follow ur loot rules then u have to respect it

If you ask players to roll and then somebody (who can use the weapon) wins the roll then they should get it.
Don't bother asking people to roll if you aren't going to honour it.
Don't play Rogue but it sounds like Grenades needs two daggers for it to work properly, so how is denying him one of the dagger he will need in anyway productive and helpful?
If you want to loot council it then fine, but figure that out before the item drops.
He passed on gloves which inherently make dagger spec WAY better, so he was passing on gloves he thought were "shit" and rolling on a dagger cause it was rare and cool. Peachpit 100% deserved it more.
It was a mistake in the heat, very common and poorly organized, mainly to that Asmongold has no classic experienced aside from what he has gained over the current live release.
My guild had the exact same situation 3 weeks ago, Asigning class leaders who knows whats best for their class is the way to go who also talk to all the rogues in the raid and sets up a loot template to who gets what to make it as fair as possible as well as benefiting the guild and the raid as much as possible.
Vepse Gaming he passed cause there was players who already had daggers and benefit from that . But when he wants the daggers to go dagger specs it’s denied

@@ulisesroldan2955 He was not planning to go dagger spec and didnt pass on them just cuz someone else had daggers, the gloves were rolled of to people who where speced w/e. it's not a council and they dont have class leaders meaning there no set boundaries on anyone going it.
And no he doesnt want to go dagger, he wants to get loot, and said he's going dagger spec specifically when the dagger dropped, and if he were he would farm gear for it.
Also if he wanted to go daggers he would have rolled on the gloves like the other 3 rogues and wouldnt pass it to someone just because they have 2 blue daggers, and even if he did the person who already farmed the pre-bis for dagger rogue should have gotten it mainly because he put in time and effort to get the right gear while the guy potraited in the video just went with whatever he could get his hands of and waits for raid loot.
There is in no way you can justify this guys actions because what he did was extremely rude, selfish and pathetic. He lied straight up to the Guild masters face and everyone in the guild ontopp of that infront of 50k people watching. This is the Typical loot whore that you see everywhere.

a good amount of rogues in my guild are dagger without any MC daggers and still getting good numbers
Sword rogues are the best when BWL comes out, the problem right now is that the best swords they can get is Rend or from the raid which warriors mostly will be prioritized.
While in BWL there drops really good swords which makes rogues excel, the difference is that daggers are better in P1 but gets much worse when BWL is available.
So yes dagger is better until rogues will be able to get swords to match up the damage loss
Makes more sense to me to get daggers then gloves.

This is why they established the way loot drops in retail to many sore spots that break up friendships over drops that will drop every week just a matter of bidding your time i remember getting in a fight over daggers that dropped on mores in Kara because of spec rolling i always used daggers as a hunter just for BG pvp.Before they made your ranged weapon able to fire close up the daggers made the most sence .

@@jaredblickenstaff9485 there were 2 people that also needed it right now and its drop chance is quite high. You get the low % drop and then roll for the high one or take kf no one needs it

Why don't they do both? Like today raid, were doing loot council, the next raid were doing roll. That way people know what they are signing up for with maybe certain rules to them.

Damn. You use what you got best for dps (sword). Legendary dagger drop, win rolls and then get screwed because you werent using dagger as first.😂 no wonder there are so much drama. 40dps sword to 60 dps daggers. That is a big upgrade. Also a warrior get priority over rogues on dagger.😂
yeah classic loot in a 40 man is so toxic I’m so happy my experience went way better and I feel like I was rewarded for it. We had 3 perdition blades drop in the first 4 clears and I was luckily 3rd in line
I’m a late Andy, but an advice to rogues out there who comes to raid with dal’rends with the intention of going daggers. COMMUNICATE to the leadership or generally people in the guild that you intend to go daggers. That way it doesn’t come as a suprise to anyone. It’s not hard...
