I'm late to the party here a bit. You've probably figured by now that it's always a good idea to travel with some sort of food basics. Staples in my teeny B's larder are a couple of cans of Progresso lentil soup, other Progresso soups like minestrone or beef barley, Campbell's mushroom soup, a box of low sodium chicken broth, a few bags of 90-second microwave rice and grains, some tuna or salmon packets. Also, a couple of cans of beans - black, kidney, navy. You can do a lot with all those things and I always keep a little bit of spinach in the freezer. You can throw that into soups and stews. A good 'recipe' that I got from another van vlog is a quick meal of a can of the lentil soup mixed with some rice and a handful of spinach thrown in. Heat it up, serve it with cheese. I also keep some sort of plant-based ground "beef" in the fridge or freezer. Easy to grab and not have to cook down burger and deal with that greasy mess just to add to a sauce or pasta to make it meaty. (a box of Hamburger Helper is a quick and dirty meal with fake meat) - or cook your hamburger at home before you leave so you don't have the mess of cooking it in the van. Freeze it into little meal-sized blocks.
I found your channel about a week ago and I must say you take really good videos, very professional, and I am enjoying them. Keep up the good work. Dena
I took that southern way out of Young once that goes to the 60 just to try it. Never did that again. I always carry a road atlas and extra protein bars or something to sustain me if I get stranded.
Had Harvest Host and didn't renew. Tried for a year only. Didn't really use it as destination more like a place to stop for the night during a road trip. Feels weird watching your video because we also have the Tellaro 20A. Nice and fun video! Yes, we forgot our coffee creamer once and we were miserable, never again.. Lol!
Just got a great tip and mod if you run out of propane in your van. Since it only holds 4.5 gallons it could run out quickly in the cold weather. The existing tank cannot be modified BUT you can connect a standard 5 gallon BBQ tank to the outlet connector outside of your van that is used for cooking. All you need is a hose and regulator. The main tank should be totally empty. Just brilliant.
We always opt to “shake in bag” with the salad mixes 😊 But I LOVE this oh crap, we don’t have much in our kitchen meal. No matter how you prepared it, it ended up looking delicious. Paired with the overly priced wine 🍷 and cards, I call that a good night. Oh… I’ve been spit on by a llama 😂. Yes. They do spit.
Great videos down to earth you would think by her expressions that y'all were ice Road Trucking or riding the death rd in paz bolivia with 3000 foot cliffs and not one foot extra for the cliffs edge tire she needs t go down a few zip lines and a couple of bunge jumps to prepare her mentally for the challenging situations LOL
I watched your lithium battery exchange video and was shocked to see the batteries are housed in a non-insulated metal box under the van and totally exposed to the elements. I can see the batteries used in vans are totally devoid of thermal management. Given that sorry state of affairs, I be the BMS (battery management system controller) is also likely junk. No wonder your original batteries failed and your new batteries were at only 30% in the morning after only running the refrigerator. The reason no doubt is the absence of thermal protection and absence of thermal management under freezing conditions. I left a comment sometime ago that you two should consider building your own travel van based on an EV-powered shell. There are now good options from Ford, Mercedes BrightDrop and others. Several of these options have really high ceiling height and would make great travel vans. The advantage of EV vans is they come equipped with a HUGE battery and come standard with an HVAC system capable of handling all the needs of heading and cooling the van. You would only need to add a water supply and waste water system for kitchen and bathroom services. I bet you would be either the first or one of the first to do an EV travel van, which sounds like a good way to catapult your subscriber numbers by a factor of 4 or more. All the best. PS, I saw there was a crack at the bottom of your windshield. Did that happen on the the 13-mile long rough road you had to traverse twice?
Our smoke alarm goes off when I fry bacon. So I put a quart size zip lock on it, it slides right up on it. Since it hangs down, I remember to remove it.
Sorry your first harvest Host stay was a bust. Dont give up on HH. We've had a few duds over the last 2.5 years but the majority of our stays have been great. Our worst HH stay involved a rude Turkey named Tarzan.
Just another reason we canceled our HH membership after two years. Out of the way, closed early, opened late, ran out of their specialty food/drink, overpriced merchandise that we tried to support, etc. I would rather find a local restaurant and have a meal and ask if we could park for the night.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Bob! You mentioned that you have to take the battery out for the smoke alarm when you cook. I have the same issue for long time until I put the cheap shower cap over the smoke detector when I starting cooking. I will take the cap down after finished cooking.
I love when you showed us your RV and repeatedly said "real life" I am right there with you! When we travel in our RV, it is normally a hot mess. Our stuff is all over the place and the RV can become a hot mess real quick LOL. THANK YOU for keeping it real😂
Love watching the day to day...especially watching you guys cook & have a meal. Will soon be buying a class B and I feel like your videos are great in portraying the little things that make it a van life. Thank you!
Great video, thanks. just a little tip...if you only have pasta, try it with peanut butter mixed in and little soy sauce. that is actually a well known Taiwanese dish. and I also dislike Google Map. you can't map trips with bunch overpaid IT nerds sitting in an office designing your route. I use Garmin unit for real trips.

I have a broken arm (actually elbow) with a cast from armpit to fingertips (ice) so watching the bumps hurts lol. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to be on the road w a broken arm. I’m having trouble just opening cat food.
OMG! What a let down.with that Harvest Host……wine! What’s wrong is you didn’t have a proper cup of coffee to start the day! Google maps is horrible…will take you on seasonal “roads” and the like! Can of condensed milk, some sugar and a couple of freeze dried meals from Mt House stashed in the cupboard. (For times just like this) Chili Mac, beef stroganoff or beef stew are good..in that order. Walmart has them. You guys had fun considering what your amenities were..that in itself was a successful adventure.
Wow that winery was a scam it seems. Did you ever see anyone arrive for the $250 dinner???? Also Re the road you left on please be careful as in the past few years google has taken people to OLD roads no longer good and several people died. One lady it tried to take through or over a mountain with no knowledge the road was closed and the woman used her whole tank and died of heat with no wifi and no drivers coming by.

$72 for a bottle of wine crazy that's like when me and my wife went to Chicago for St Patrick's Day 10 years ago and we go into a bar and ask for two shots before we go to the parade and it was $40 I told my wife never again

Omg! That road, especially toward the end! I'm terrified of heights as well and find I deal with stuff like that better if I am the one driving. Being the one hanging by the edge is NOT fun. Lol. Also, Google has done me so wrong lately (several really bad routes on sketchy roads like yours, as well as being sent the wrong way up a one way street) that I bought an atlas to take if I know I am going to parts unknown. I really can see how people following it end up in lakes, etc, especially at night on unfamiliar dark roads. Can you imagine if you had left in the dark!?? It would have added a whole new level of terror!
