    You will like. ,, We are running a 5125R and love it. Coming out of a 5100m ... The transmission is great when in hay field especially mowing hay../.. Its nice on the auto shift for mixed grass to maintain speed and rpm... I agree a little bit more cab would be great I am 6 foot 4 , 218 lbs and its comfortable but nothing extra. I would run it over the 6 series we have that 3 years old. The 5125r is just a great all around tractor you would enjoy it and as far as the lime stuff if you filled the tires you will be fine I think.

    Lime will most likely be an issue with this tractor... however you have another one you have been using haul lime with .. is that the one you will be getting rid of and replacing with this one ? The problem is the more you try the more you end up spending ... because we all want it all ... you were happy with the used 6R till you tried this one ... now you love the transmission... I get the 0% ... had the same issue when looking for a new truck ... turned out it was a tough call but in the long and short I bought the used version because we got more bang for our bucks $$$ ... more or less new however 1 year old with less then 300 miles on it ... and no I did not get all the bells and whistles that were available on the new models but the savings of over 10K was well worthwhile for me .... on a day to day basis unless you are constantly jumping from the new trans to other model you will adapt quickly and when driving down the road with your tons of lime behind you and you arrive safely at your destination...nothing else matters... so my vote 6 series unless it continues to have DEF issues ... then run away like the wind and don’t look back

    the brake-nuetral function work on all the newer R and M series no matter the size of the tractor but it depends on what transmission you got. it works on the Autopowr (ivt) and on the direct drive (powershift) transmissions but not on the powerquad transmissions. have a good time in the Deeres. Cheers

    • @thedutchfarmerhd1437
      @thedutchfarmerhd1437 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      i have to say that the IVT transmission is propperly the most comfortabel transmission BUT it also eats alot of horsepower on a 250 hp (with boost) it takes about 40 to 50 hp off

      @DLHFarms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh wow that's a big loss of hp

  • @jasondavies4887
    @jasondavies4887 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The brackes disingaging the clutch Is not a good idea when your driving with a big load down hill. Unless you can turn it on and off. There is to much electric crap on the tractors you are trying for me. These transmitions drain so much power out of the engine. And when something goes wrong it's big $$$ to repair. I prefer a simpler tractor. But they are still nice to see and see what you think of them.

    I have to say I was impressed with that tractor. We seem to have similar operations with similar terrain, and I would only be comfortable with a 115-120hp tractor weighing 13,000-14,000 pounds (including front weights, tire ballast, etc.) as a main chore tractor. Not sure what that 5R weighs, but that's just my two cents LOL

    • @JROC734
      @JROC734 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I talked to someone who bought a pretty loaded up 5115R and he claims that the dealer told him his tractor should be in the 15K lb range. Apparently just the tractor itself is rated at about 10K lbs before adding the loader/weights/filling tires/etc. Honestly these #'s seem a little optimistic to me, but I'm just relaying what I was told. Basically my 5075E without the loader and filled tires is rated at 59xx lbs (open cabbed model) so this 5R is about 4K lbs more if those #'s are correct.

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the 5r is shipped weighing 10,000 pounds so it's heavy

  • @bradkelly1204
    @bradkelly1204 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have driven 5000 and 6000 series Deere’s a lot and can say 5R are great but I would look around and see if you can find a used 6R with IVT or even a 6330/6430 premium with IVT. You might have to compromise on hours for the money but they are fairly reliable. I think that would tick all your boxes. Once you drive IVT it’s hard to go back. And the bigger cab is way better for comfort.

  • @smcox1991

    I’m currently in the same dilemma buying a brand new one with 0% financing or having to pay interest on a used one. But I’m looking at used so I don’t have to get a tractor with emissions crap on it. But when you can finance a new one for 0% interest and your going to end up paying pretty close to the same as a used one it’s keeping me up at night.

    Nice video, really like the drone footage of that landscape. Much more diverse than Oklahoma, lol. The 5R seems like a nice machine but I'd be worried about it's size. That's a really small frame to be using for round baling on hillsides and handling the lime spreader, like you mentioned. I am pretty sure the Deere 5 Series is the same class as the Massey 4700 series, which is pretty small. I'm pretty sure you mentioned that you already have a tractor, but just looking at what I've seen so far, it sounds like a Deere 6R with IVT maybe your best bet. Big enough frame for your work, easy transmission for anyone to run, and perfect for hay work. Also, curious why you haven't considered a used machine? There are some Deere 6X30 and 7X30 series tractors out there that are still low hour'd, and have the modern premium features like the monitors and IVT transmissions. And for less money.

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My cousin just bought a 2019 5125 R John Deere fully load. Even has shocks on all 4 wheels for a smoother ride. He paid about $117,000. for it had about 50 hrs on it and drove from central Kentucky to Oklahoma to pick it up, very nice tractor. Around here in Kentucky a Massey Ferguson 4710 Deluxe cab , 800 lbs of rear wheel weighs on each back wheel, 34 inch rear rims. 540/1000 pto. Loader with hay spear as bucket. And has the sun roof with protecting bars . With 2 year bumper to bumper full warranty extended warranties are available . 3 year warranty on the drive train. And you can but extended drive train for 2 more years for $1,800. With out the extended warranties the 4710 MF is about $62,000. That's about 1/2 half the price of a new 2021John Deere 5125 R .

    I noticed when you was brush hogging that you were running about 520 to 540 with a ENG RPM speed around 2000 to 2100. Did you try the econ mode? Just wondering. That seems high. With a similar sized hog I run around 4-500 rpms less. Was just wondering if its the way the trans is setup in that auto mode.

    • @DLHFarms

      I did use economy mode later after I quit filming. It did have to run a little faster than the 6r to have the pto speed up to 540
