    This is definitely the forgotten type!! I agree that Wide +Long +Round women can look so powerful and alluring. I think sometimes women can feel lost or maybe even ashamed of their height and width AND curve because they need to accommodate each attribute. But taking the time to learn your strengths and dress for them is very liberating!

    This is me!! When I first discovered Kibbe, I was convinced that I must have been SD because of my bust... later on, when I finally understood what exactly Kibbe meant by 'width' and seeing which kind of clothes looked better on me, I realized I'm a FN. I just didn't see it before because most of the examples people give for FNs are models, who tend to be quite flat-chested😅 I've handled it by combining aspects of SDs and FNs and I'm pretty happy with my current wardrobe, but I'm thrilled you've made a video about this! Your channel is a gem and I adore your insights❤

      I’m a FN with hips and a butt with their own zip code. I had to dig up old photos of me to really see my bone structure and realize that my shoulders are still wider than my hips and I just didn’t see the FN because of some additional roundness.

    Ellie, I can't thank you enough.
    I struggle to categorize myself between FN, SD and SN and I also received different opinions from others. You made me understand that if I follow elongated lines, softness on the shoulders and emphasis on shapes/waistline I will always know which outfit suits me and which doesn't.

    I think I'm this type. My go to-is a long mermaid skirt that's tight through the waist and hips and flared at the bottom (although they're not in style at all and nearly impossible to find). I couldn't decide between SD or FN. Loose, baggy, bohemian clothes look shapeless and terrible on me, but the "T" shape Kibbe recommends for SD's doesn't work, either. I landed on SD because even though I have wide shoulders, my rib cage is very narrow and I have a small waist and very round hips and upper thighs. So that's not really FN at all. I definitely need open necklines and flared hems, with very clear waist definition in between.

    I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate what you did. I see so many women with this body type and they often don't feel accepted in the fashion industry. My cousin is one of those too. She has wide, very straight shoulders, a curvy, very luscious silhouette and a long vertical line. And in terms of Kibbe she has an almost equal combination of both FN and SD features, even in her face. She's not the "cute, girly" type that can look "innocent" or "childlike", that's for sure. Having such a beautifully strong yet curvy bodytype is imho creating a very striking image and yet women of that kind often come across lost and insecure when it comes to styling. At least that's what I experienced. So this body type in your system really closes a gap that should've never been there to begin with. Thank you for including these beautiful women.

    As someone who’s wide and round, and 1.65 so not particularly tall, though definitely above average for my country, I was pretty confused about my kibbe type and “settled” on soft natural because of the features I felt more sure about (width and curve). But the celebrity examples for SN always felt like they looked shorter than me. So though I don’t feel like I look that tall, this might be me.

    • @robertasc.9394
      @robertasc.9394 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Same! Im 1.65 cm, people see me taller. I was typed SN but something was off, because on me it was cute and nice but not "wow!"... So years later I explored FN, but i just cant't handle too much looseness and I feel lost in it. Maybe SD because of the "intensitiy", but I definitely have wide shoulders. I think that the best option is to try LONG WIDE ROUND and see what happens ❤ I hope we will both find our best style!

    Yes! I’ve been noticing how difficult it can be putting summer outfits together for my SD (over 50) body. So many shorts are too short or too straight. Scoop necks and bootcut pants are hard to find. Blazers with no waist definition aren’t great. Cool fabrics can be too stiff or shapeless. Off the shoulder is great (been trying on strapless bras lately to find a good, less thick one) and extra high rise trousers etc work best for me.
    Thanks for this video and hope you do more!

    Thank you for this in-depth analysis! As someone who has been debating SD vs. FN for months now, it felt very validating to hear about wide+long+wide as the forgotten body type and see some celebrities that I've identified with (Hannah Waddingham!). Seeing my body type for what is is has allowed me to come to peace with what makes me unique. I know the reasoning behind why certain things don't make me look my best, but then I can use what I know to find alternate styles that DO make me feel my best. Embrace what makes you unique!

    I love this video! When I first learned about Kibbe, I loved the idea of honoring both width + curve and felt so at home in SN lines. I've just gradually elongated the lines because I'm on the taller side. Kibbe would consider me FN (I'm 169-170 cm), but something always feels a bit off if I'm wearing FN lines, I need the softness/roundness as well to look my best. I'm so glad you made an entire video about this!

T-shirts often fit weird (especially with the boxy/oversized look that's in style now). They often sit tight on my chest and loose around my waist. Also, most blouses don't fit right. They are often too tight around the bust or fit way too loose. I try to avoid high necklines, as it emphasizes the bust even more. Any advice?

      I would propose you to play with layers.
      For example something close to you skin tone to cover your skin and then a layer with contrast on top, more open to create an illusion of an open neck line. Same idea on the head, you can accommodate volume under your scarf.
      I would for example, for me in winter, use a fitted top with a soft pale colour and a vest with a v neck, some shape and movement.
      Hope it helps, take care :)

      I share this body type and I often use stretchy cotton crew-neck tees to stay covered at work.
      I find that as long as the shirt is oversized enough to allow easy movement through the neck, chest and shoulders, I look good.
      I cinch in the tee at my waist to create a sense of flowing fabric as well.
      I also have a couple of stretch cotton dresses that are crew neck with tight sleeves and draping where you would normally have an open neckline. The effect of openness and cinching at the waist is very flattering, as the skirt flows out from there.

    It is interesting for me to watch this video. I have wide and round qualities, but I am 5"1' tall with more of a rectangle body and little waist definition, so I do not really read as "long". I gravitate towards many of the same silhouettes and elements when I dress my frame. But I avoid excess fabric volume, especially in the sleeves and around the hips. However a modified version of these looks has always worked for me, along with chunky heels and jewelry!

    Hi! I am a very typical FN-- wide, straight, and long. And I have been watching your channel (and loving it!) for 2 years now. Your descriptions of kibbe terminology really made me understand exactly what my body type is. That being said, as an FN, recommendations for honoring width feel, in my experience practicing them, too literal. I still don't understand why Naturals are pressured to accommodate width throughout their whole frame if the width is only in the upper body. If Kibbe truly means to echo our structure, then why is it "against Kibbe lines" to wear a width accommodating top and more tapered bottoms if Natural bodies are wider at the top and more tapered at the bottom? I understand that other Kibbe concepts like curve, vertical, and petite are present in the entirety of the frame, so they need to be accommodated head to toe. Width seems to be an outlier in that sense. Any clarification on the topic would be helpful! Looking forward to more videos!

    I am narrow up top and wide on the bottom. I have vertical and I am very curvy. I go for SD and I just wear shoulder pads etc. The issue is I am a super pear shaped while being a soft dramatic. People normally only think SD are rulers or hour glass shapes. I don't find my body type at all. For the longest time I thought I was a Soft Classic because I had vertical and width and roundness in equal measure. But the lines were wrong, there wasn't enough space for my curves or my width or my actual or perceived height. I have broadness/sharpness/roundness in my lower hip down to my toes. Above my hips are vertical, sharpness and rounded only. Its like a Barbie doll where someone put a soft dramatic on the top and a soft natural on the bottom. In my interest, I have 3 sets of Kibbe outfits etc Soft Natural, Soft dramatic and Soft classic. In addition, I have pear shape, large bust, X with the lower hip being prominent and long torso/short legs outfits.

    There is one more kibbe missing link :) the people who sit between SD and (T)R and don't have balance or petite. I'm one of those. I'm 5'5 so medium in length, I have narrow shoulders, but wide(r) curvy hips, but no convincing double curve. I would describe myself as a spoon-shape. In my kibbe journey I found out that waist emphasis, longer narrow lines that curve with my body (are fitted) without being súper duper strechy clingy look very nice on me. I also learned that I have to avoid very short lines, especially cropped tops, and heavy color blocking and/or seperates. This lead me to SD, however I'm nearly not frame dominant enough for SD with my narrow rounded shoulders and it's not that I look tall either- in comparison to my similar height peers that I'm convinced are tall types (I live in the Netherlands, so enough tall people here) I look small (almost petite) and softer (my bones aren't obvious at all, just my flesh), mainly because I lack shoulder and frame. I also have a short torso and am quite narrow on top, except for my round hips and thighs which are wide and very fleshy - again, the spoon type. So then I thought: maybe I'm a romantic without the petite? but then I found that short lines don't agree with me and that the very drapey fabrics work amazing for my bottom half, but not for my upper half, as there is only slight curve to cling to. So I don't think double curve is me either. Balance then? people often put me in SC, I assume because I have a ENC essence and people see that timeless classic old hollywood vibe that they associate with classics. And it would make sense, however the longer lines looking good on me never really convinced me and I also needed more curve accomodation than the regular SC. To give an example: I could never ever fit in some of the pants you can fit in and recommend for SCs, because they'd not accomodate for enough curve for me and some of the sweaters you wear do not have enough waist emphasis and I would drown in them, and yet you look so much more petite than me. I remember a jeansskirt you once recommended, and jeans skirts just are too heavy and boxy on me (and often they hit at the knee, which isn't my best look). I felt both too curvy and too big for SC at the same time. I often wished for a type that was maybe a SDC (this would include having both slight curve ánd slight vertical) or a type that sits in between SD and R. I even concidered SN/curvy FN at some point, because they have both yang ánd yin and wider necklines seemed to work well. I thought maybe my hips could make up for the width, but ultimately I simply just don't have the shoulders to back it up. And the wider necklines were balancing my wider hips, so it makes sense that they looked nice. I was desperate, I guess. In the end I settled for being a curvy SC that leans SD, but I also actually gave it up. I felt like my top half didn't fit my bottom half, like they were 2 seperate types (which doesn't make sense) and it also made me insecure about my hips. At that point the essences were making more sense than kibbe did (E: longer S curves, soft and flowy fabrics, N: structure, and explaining the width in my hips and jawline, C: everything being toned down to be a bit more average) so I ended up working more with those, but I also felt like not having so much freedom there with styling. So now my hopes are with your system! I have hope that maybe you can clear it up. I'm going with narrow/medium/round for now. I know I'm not the only one with this issue. Many debates and discussions have been discussed in the freely kibbe group about this and many people have been through the same kind of journey as I did, before ditching kibbe altogether. Thanks for reading this essay and I hope that you'll concider a video about this missing kibbe type :) (and I you'd like photos to illustrate, I'd happily send you)

      @@elliejeanroyden Thanks for your reply! I was also wondering: do you think there is dominance in the three features (length, width and shape). I mean in the way that color analysis also deals in them. For example a light spring is light first, bright second and warm third, so if they can't focus on them all they'd do well to at least go for light colors (which explains why they pull off summer colors as well). Do you think that applies to the body matrix as well? as in, could one for example be most dominant in curve, then narrowness and then being long? or most dominant in being short, then in being medium and then in being wide. etc etc

This video of yours impressed me so much because I've never seen a professional stylist who knows this dark, mysterious style so much. I was thinking about getting a consultation by Ellie-Jean since I've never seen someone as good at explaining this exact style that fits women like Helena Bonham Carter or Christina Ricci so well. Before buying your product I wanted to rewatch this video but didn't find it. So sad! Maybe you don't work with women like that anymore. All in all, hope you will reupload this video. Or can you or someone else who's reading this recommend another creator who talks about the style I love?

    Confused! I think this is me, except the wide skirts and dresses look awful and just swamp me - the classic SD advice to avoid them and go for more fitted skirts is the most useful thing I’ve learned from Kibbe. I’m also not sure how to balance the wide/chunky/bold accessories recs for this type and SD, with my style roots (flower is the main one) and essences (classic and ingenue) as they call for smaller scale, more delicate prints and accessories. Am I missing something here or does everything contradict 🥺

    • @elliejeanroyden
      @elliejeanroyden  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It could be that you’re more medium than wide in which case more narrowness would work for you than this type! And yes there always contradictions when trying to combine different systems which is why I have a TH-cam video on that! ♥️

      I totally get this! I have this body type (perhaps closer to medium than wide). But I also have ingenue essence and slight bone structure. 5’10, very curvy, defined waist, BUT delicate wrists, collar bone, ankles, etc. I feel like too much volume can honor width but can drown a more delicate frame. If that makes sense. I do really well with midi skirts with soft movement, asymmetrical, not too voluminous. I’ll only do volume with super light fabrics like cotton gauze or muslin. Heavy fabrics need to be clingy. Hope this helps.
