    I have played this bass since 1991. Love the neck being so thin and after so any years it has not warped. Also, barely goes out of tune. I love it. Never seen it in blue. My is the candy apple red. Been an awesome bass and after all my gigs, practicing, and recording I want no other.

      How much are they worth on the used market? I'm currently looking at one for €800.

    Rare bass, you don’t see them very often. Ibanez have been killing it for decades.

      I've always wanted one because I have back problems and using a bass that weighs 12 lbs on stage doesn't help so I really want an Ibanez sabre bass because it's so light and it sounds great

    If memory serves it's part of Ibanez' Saber range. As has been said, very rare now

    It is a SB 900LE. There were three types. The SB 900 , the SB 1200 (with EMG pick-ups) and the SB1500, with Limeted Editions to the 900 and 1200 (I believe it had to do with colors). SB stands for Sabre Bass, it was the bass version of the Sabre guitar.
    I have two, a red 900Le and a blue 1200. The're extremely rare and very loved by Ibanez connoisseurs.
    Can I buy it?

    D'Addario strings are my favorite. They seal their strings in those plastic packs so they aren't all corroded when you get them the way almost every string in a "paper packaging" always is. Good strings can still come from paper packaging but if you get up close and look, most of them show signs of corrosion straight outta the pack.
    Edit: I'll never buy another Ibanez guitar or pedal

      Their nickels are great. I find DR's to be better feeling steels, though.

    Jeez that’s a thin bass. I thought the Aerodyne was thin but this a lot thinner.
    Good job Dave!! Making guitars with future ski jumps. J/K...I don’t believe that crap either.LOL

    • @someoneelse101
      @someoneelse101 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's part of the Saber series. The S series of guitars are still being made and are as thin if not thinner than these basses

    Those Ibanez bridges are a pain in the ass. Most of the newer accucast bridges are still countersunk, but they are one piece, solving the problem.

    So in one of your videos a while back you recommended a place to get a straight edge for fender, I can’t for the life of me remember what it was. Any help? I have a MIM Fender Strat. Thanks Dave ✌🏻

    Love my black SB-900, without this vid I would’ve been doing trial and error with the whack-ass bridge.

  • @Woods_Hiker
    @Woods_Hiker 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Liked & tweeted. That is a slick looking base like you said Dave I like the thin curved body & especially like those types of cable jacks that are angled. Wish mine was like that on my 🎸 I'm thinking maybe that bass was never set- up so technically it wasn't gooched because no one touched it since it left the factory. 🤷‍♂️ You dialed it right in though 👌

    Unnecessarily complex bridge - probably just to be different then all the stuff out there. Good vid

    • @GoonSquadLifeMember
      @GoonSquadLifeMember 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      True statement. A lot of manufacturers over-complicate things for proprietary/patent reasons. Makes it a pain in the cock for end users to do the eventual repairs.

    • @someoneelse101
      @someoneelse101 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kinda reminds of the bridges used on Rickenbacker 4003s. Hipshot found a way around that one and had adjustable saddles enclosed in one unit

    Longer set screws maybe?

    • @mikemcilroy4995
      @mikemcilroy4995 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave's World of Fun Stuff I was thinking it would keep hat bottom piece from creeping out of alignment when trying to lower the bridge to the deck to the deck, I was thinking top piece was tapped but I guess then the set screw would have come out the top if lowering it...easier sometimes to figure it out with the work not on a tv

    This is the advantage that bolt ons have over set necks and neck throughs. Their shimibility.

  • @miljoneir
    @miljoneir 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Terrible bridge design. On my Ibanez bass, the wood was cracking around the two front screws and the whole bridge was bent. I filled the huge gap with a piece of wood and replaced the bridge with this one: www.thomann.de/gb/goeldo_hw50b_bass_3d_steg.htm EDIT: at 5:41 you can see the same thing happening, the inner blocks holding the A, D strings are curved forward.

      It is thin; kind of a competitor to the Fender Lyte basses of the late 80s-early 90s.
