Question: According to the application instruction page, originals and photocopies of all the supporting documents need to be submitted: 1) green card - do you leave the actual green card in the application package to be sent? Or just a photocopy of it? 2) for bank statements, do you provide the original printed copies, and then duplicated photocopies of these?
We didn’t send the documents via mail, we personally submitted the photocopy of all the documents at the VFS global, NYC and carried all the original along with us. For more clarity, I would suggest to check with the visa center where you are going to mail the documents. Even for bank statements we submitted the printouts.
I applied for short stay - multiple entry schengen visa . intially we are travelling for 4 days but in 90 days we will be visiting couple of times . should i apply for medical insurance that cover for 4 days or for entire duration of 90 days.

Thanks ! Pay slips are needed only when you are employed. Also, as per our knowledge, it does not matter for how many entries you have applied for , just that you would have to provide the plan for entering the schengen are multiple times.

1)We too had so much difficulty in finding Schengen visa format photos, after searching we finally found out a studio in nyc which provided us the photo we needed. 2)The application was online, just the signature was handwritten. 3) As far as we know NOC is sufficient as they didn’t ask for the employment contract for the last 2 instances when we applied the visa.
You have to apply to german consulate and check who handles the visa process. I think it’s BLS international who handles Schengen visa process and not VFS global, but check on german consulate website for the details.

Hey Shashi, not really sure if there is anything specific for opt stem extension but in general the requirement is that you should have a US visa. If you are employed, they ask for a letter from Employer. We were asked for this letter both the times we went for document submission. Also, a cover letter is necessary requirement, we were asked for the same both the times we went for the submission.

There is an option provided by some of the consulates while booking an appointment to add this service of taking a photo in consulate, but we took the photos with us so not sure on how the other process works.

As per my understanding it’s the same process - you just need explain the itinerary on the cover letter + provide all the needed travel documents.

If we have plans of flying from one country to another within Schengen area then do we need to add those flight details as well in the itinerary for the visa process? Or just the entry and exit itinerary to Schengen?

Hello thank you for such valuable information.I have a question about this schengen visa itenary.During application process it says we need to provide travel itenary. We are planning from United states and want to visit Uk and paris in one trip and we got visitor visa for UK.We are about to apply for paris visa but coming to this itenary part we thought to travel in train from London to paris.So is it okay to book train tickets prior and submit as travel itenary for application process or do we need to submit the flight tickets from US to paris and submit for application?

We used an approved us visa for applying, though few people in the comments mentioned that for them i797 worked. But it may depend from which country’s consulate you are applying as well

I'm planning to apply for the schengen visa in november and plan for (Itlay,France and Greece) the trip in april.and will be going to India and get my h1b stamping done by jan. Can I get the exact date or before date of my travel plan entry date stamped on my visa? I don’t want to miss my tourism dates planned? What is the use if I get stamped for month of June and my travel bookings are in May. This has happened to me with UK visa. It’s frustrating.

Too much hassle and yet there is no guarantee for a green card holder to be approved. I am a US Citizen and wifey is green card holder. I was very excited to visit swizerland but now fck it, might as well go to dubai where I don't have to book expensive flights etc just so that I can cancel if visa is rejected.

I just booked my appointment at VFS and their early schedule is in November 22nd. My question is do they keep your passport after your appointment? I'm worried they might not be able to return my passport before my flight.

There is an option provided by some of the consulates while booking an appointment to add this service of taking a photo in consulate, but we took the photos with us so not sure on how the other process works.
