@@CFITOMAHAWK2--I think some guys like the smell of sweating friends than the scent of a dancing woman. That is so Pre Gay.. Soccer also makes your legs become more like womanly or thunder thighs style. I was a boxer instead/ when young.
Not the Carolina shag! More of a modified jive. Watch "Shag the Movie" with Phobe Cates & Bridget Fonda. The music & dance are authentic. I know, I was raised in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Why do they call this a shag battle? That is not the shag. It is a very vivacious and go-to-it dance; whereas the shag is restrained and graceful. It is entertaining, but not the shag.
There are multiple types of shag dancing - from what I know, the restrained and graceful smoother type of shag is called Carolina Shag. This video consists of Collegiate Shag, and there also exists St Louis Shag
Nah, they are good intermediate dancers. And - sadly - lindy, bal and shag suffer from "amateurism", tho that also makes it fun and accessable for most. But in most classes beginners just get taught basic steps, some superficial details on connection and than go into pattern pattern pattern. So good technique - which is just basically universal in all dances - is neglected HARD because that would mean practice practice and practice over and over and over generating muscle memory. Not to mention they all could do some more excersises to straighten up. Look at Steve and Chanzie ( th-cam.com/video/dRQ-RsAXdEM/w-d-xo.html ) not only great technique, but also great physique! It all plays together. Edit: Could also be just them being nervous btw because of missing experience performing in a comp. Happens to a lot of dancers who are good but never competed.
@@veralake5898 I just thought it strange that you couldn't appreciate the skill and the coordinated rhythm of these dancers and I presume you were never brought up in the era of Jive of which this dance is the forerunner
