At the beginning of the German economic rise, the automobile industry took a big step to solidify its long-lasting reign. Many companies came and worked on cars and other vehicles, which became a vast reputation sector in the automobile world. In the beginning, German-made vehicles were considered the best. However, only a few companies made it to the future, which is today. And Audi, one of the biggest automobile companies in the world, is undoubtedly one of these companies that just didn’t survive, thrive, and succeed, but it seems like they’re in for a longer run than they already are.

If you trace some of the older Audi dealerships back, you would have a Studebaker-Packard dealership. SPC in the late 50's up to the mid 60's had a distribution agreement with Auto Union to sell DKW's and Mercedes Benz cars. Before this agreement both brands were lucky to sell a few hundred cars a year in the US. This agreement gave the Audi brands and Mercedes brands thousands of SPC dealerships access and started their growth in the US. Studebaker itself is of German heritage.

That Audi's are expencive would not be a problem if durability and reliability was on par with the prize .
I owned just one Audi 80 1.8 for two years and sold it because I was fed up with the endless repairs !
    Never again .

" Audi " history ended in 1940. Even within the Auto - Union, it represented less than 1 % at the time. When Merc sold the DKW - factories to VW, they kept the plant at Düsseldorf. VW replaced the two - stroke - engine by an atrocious 4 - stroke - engine ( once designed for the German army ) - which was no good for nothing. Then, there was the " Audi 100 " - rot boxes that fell apart in no time. The later " Type 43 " was even worse...hardly any cars survived.... I used to joke if somebody told me : I have got an Audi ! - I answered : Really ? So it is pre - war then ? Later on, they shared most components and platforms with VW - not a big surprise. On later models, the front suspension was notorious - all alloy stuff and bushes of deplorable quality which had to be changed more or less every two years. Not cheap at all...Sorry, they can keep that stuff. I have seen too many of them...Spare - parts - supply ? Make me laugh....That first V 8 again was utter crap, dear, but no good. Summing - up : just as bad as Merc. Difference : for a Merc, you get the spares at least. I do not want either of them, not even as a gift.

Volkswagen was growing. Volkswagen's is named the peoples car and if there is a high price on the sticker, people think it's a ripoff to charge so much for an economy car. Therefore to grow into the high end of the market VW merged with a more expensive brand. So a VW Jetta was like the same car as the Audi Fox but it appears to be worth it's higher price.

Our 1973 Audi 100S owners manual stated the engine was built by Mercedes-Benz. Also, pronunciation is aww-dee or awedee, not the way Anglophones say it. In the owners' manual.....

How you have that pronunciation is how the yanks say it. It's wrong. How this guy in the video says it is how it should be. The only Anglophile country that says it the way you wrote it is the USA. And they say it wrong.
