Well, liking the 1911 and being proficient with it isn't being a fudd, that's respectable. Fudds are guys who insist it's better than newer pistols or is without flaw or you're "not a serious shooter" without one.
Theres something about carrying a 1911 that warms my heart. Im really curious about what type of holster you were carrying that Garrison in, and Im assuming it was an OWB? I know you dont really do videos or content like that, but that would probably be cool to listen to you give some advice on things like that, instead of listening to the masses on youtube who tell you to only carry a Glock 19, RMR with a mounted light in appendix. I read your book "The American Rifleman" and value your information much more than the Main stream gun youtubers.
Pure facts. The fundamentals of marksmanship are a constant. The manual of arms may change from platform to platform, but the fundamentals don't change.
I am a local truck driver who sits a decent amount but who also goes into several facilities daily to pallet jack off freight where carrying a gun is a huge no no. My job involves bending and lifting and all manor of moving once I am inside so I actually carry an M&P subcompact 2.0 on the ankle in an ankle glove. With my spare mag that's 24 rounds on me, not the fastest but it’s better than sitting in my lunchbox in the truck
Love you Reid....no homo. Thank you for your service both in the military and the content and service you bring to us here on TH-cam, which in my opinion is just as important. Much appreciated.
First hey Reid long time watcher first time commenter I have 3 of your books only self trained in firearms. Love your stuff from 1 Adventist to another.
I'm going to a training weekend(firearms training/content creation/marketing)at the end of May. I'm taking a Hi Point JCP 40S&W pistol to create video content showing that the gun shouldn't matter if the fundamentals are followed. I can't wait.
Great point on dry fire from different holster positions. It would ruin your day if you were used to hip carry and had to go appendix in a bad situation!
Absolute love a good 1911. The history, function, and feel just cannot be matched. For an EDC I could overcome the size and weight disadvantages, but the lack of magazine capacity is insurmountable in 2024, for me. Mag capacity IS a big deal for an EDC.
Wow, I actually got a notification about Reid's video. I usually have to search for them even though I'm subscribed and hit the bell. Yes, I just left a comment on a video I haven't yet watched.
Those old designs are not only still relevant, they’re still the best shooting guns you can get. Hottest thing on the market are the 2011’s and there’s a reason; they shoot very fast and very accurate for a lot of people. I’m watching this video from a hotel room two states from home, and guess what I have on me?! Old slab sides. And I promise it’s not because I don’t have other options. It’s because I’m most confident with it.
I’ve been trying to get into red dots, comps and all that stuff but I keep going back to simple setups. I always go back to Glock 43 with a tlr6 and truglo night sights. Stock everything else.
2:11 Yes on training on multiple ways to carry! When I was 180lbs 6 years ago I could conceal a G19 and spare mag, and sit in the truck comfortably! Today pushing 280, The 3:30-4 position works and conceals well enough. Muscle memory, any rig you currently have set up, train train TRAIN your draw in your spare time. Your wife may think you're crazy though LOL!
Man I feel like a A$$ I remember giving this man crap about constantly pushing religion. Again I feel like a complete idiot. Now that I’m older I have a completely different perspective and way of thinking. Reid you keep doing what you do Sir!!!!! In my opinion this man is the most honest person in this platform.
Why do I get SO MUCH info from Reid? I just enjoy the hell of your content! If you get a chance, Reid, do you know how your grandfather's SA 1911 Garrison compares to the modern day SA 1911 Garrison in .45acp? Also, I just picked up a Magnum Research 1911CSS in .45acp with a 4" barrell. I haven't shot it yet but, what do you think of the Magnum Research arms? Too late for me but, from my research, they're a good gun under $1000.
😅So I won't say how I know him here. But, i know a retired cop. Cranky guy...likes to bitch about alot of things lol....I was shocked to.learn he carries ONLY a ruger lcp 380. Only consolation is he is a real tack driver. I feel sorry for anyone he has to pull it on.
Anyone that routinely carries appendix has never worked cattle on horseback. Looks cool on the internet and is a fast draw but doesn't work in real life in all situations. Trust this old timer. By the way I EDC a hot loaded .357

Good to see that Reid's not concerned about being called a "Fudd" by some random "mall ninja" that wanders in and sees that 1911. 😊
Now if it was you shooting the 1911, it may be a different story 😊

Owning your grandfather’s 1911 is simply amazing man. What a wonderful piece of history that has so much personal meaning as well!
Agree !
Love your content man one of the most real genuine Americans you can watch on this platform!!!!
Outstanding!!
I carry a 1911 everyday at 70 yrs. old.
Semper Fidelis Brother.
Took a custom class with a 1911 at Valor Ridge and Reid makes a great point - fundamentals over equipment.
So glad to see you again Reid. Hadn’t see ya in a while.

@@Rubeless Nice not a bad idea
I've actually switched over to just plain old hardball when I carry any of my 45acp caliber pistols. The same stuff I practice with.
i realize appendix is more concealable, but hip or 4'oclock feels so much more comfortable to me.
Always
Love you Reid....no homo.

Glad you’re still out there making videos man.
Thanks for the shoutout my friend. Great video as always.

Been loving and sharing your content for years. Thank you for your educational material.
Appreciate you, Reid. ❤️👍🇺🇲 FJB
Reid I miss your videos. If nothing other than giving me knowledge to navigate the world we live in and to restore patriotism

Like always good hear your comments, planting season upon us here in Indiana, work in garden with sidearm hip holstered, 👍
Got my Grandfather's Colt 1908 vest pocket .25 auto. He carried it daily, in the coal mines of southern Ohio.. Pretty cool.
Good to see you brother. Great content.
I love your old school approach, fundamentals is the best way to learn.
The 1911 is still a decent pistol, def on my to-buy list in the near future.
Check out girscsn mc 1911 sc , I got one last week . It’s awesome
Thanks for reminding Me and others of the usefulness of the basics!
Great point on dry fire from different holster positions. It would ruin your day if you were used to hip carry and had to go appendix in a bad situation!
Excellent report
Reid showing some 1911 love.....and I like it!
Thank you.
Waiting on the tactical nerds calling you a fudd for this.
Great video brother!!!
Those tacticool guys probably see Reid and swipe left lol
Thank you for your time and effort posting this information.

Always great to see a vid from you.
Always great info
I didn’t know you had love for my favorite handgun type like that. Nice Springfield and good hits! 😎

I took pistol craft 1 with my 1911.
🔥
Thx man 👍
Good afternoon.
I'm always here.
Love the Lee headquarters flag!
Dble tap with a double stack mag or single with a 8 round mag, about the same capacity.
I love the 1911, but I carry Glock.
Awesome
There are limits to this. Compare a full size handgun to a pocket 380 like the LCP.

I hip carry openly because it’s more comfortable for me than to try to conceal it.
for the algorithm
Sup Reid!!
Boom
Practice, practice, practice...

I like the way you operate , you would probably be just as effective with a cap and ball or a frontloader rifle, or a rock, haha
