Curt Gowdy gave me so many child hood memories he was the very best I loved hearing him no matter what he was announcing. Thank him so much for those memories he created for me. Perry Ickes
Growing up in the Boston area I remember watching the Red Sox on television with the iconic voice of the great Curt Gowdy as the announcer. Those are some great memories.😄
Al Michaels was the fulltime voice for the Reds at that time. NBC had a tradition of the broadcaster for the home team do a few innings on NBC during the World Series. At 1:07, also from the same 72 Word Series, you see the Oakland A's broadcaster Monte Moore between Gowdy and Tony Kubek.
There was a time was broadcasters just did that--broadcast. Curt Gowdy was one of the greats.

One of my most memorable Gowdy games was the "Sea of Hands " game. What a call on Stabler's TD pass to Clarence Davis.

One of the greatest greats. PERIOD!
The voice brings back many nice memories as a young baseball fan back then.
We miss announcers like Curt Gowdy! Today I shut the sound off, and just watch the game.
The '71 All Star game call of Reggie's blast was awesome.
To have been THE announcer when Baseball was king 👑. And second place was a ldistant second.
“How about that”.
@0:15.....TWO broadcasting legends....CURT GOWDY and longtime Mets announcer, BOB MURPHY
The best announcer
WHAT A GRAB TOMMIE AGEE
He was my mom's neighbor in the 40's... a giant really.
Must be some nice stories to add.
I liked Gowdy. I grew up with him. I hated to have Garagiola take his place doing baseball.
Curt was my uncle
Nice.
Who is that guy at 0:28 seconds? My guess is that is a young Al Michaels.
The one and only Al Michaels at 28.
Yep--the 1972 World Series.
