    What a charming film. Odd to see great stones in glass cubicles or secreted away in churches, but there we are. The stately progress of the C15 matches the subject matter perfectly.

      When you sit on a C15 it doesn't feel stately! Thank you for your lovely comment. It takes longer to put the film together than it does to do the trip! It is as well the stones are being preserved. The glass shelter round the Shandwick Stone is not so bonny!

      That's kind of you Dave. I was a teacher and my pupils hated listening to my voice! I hope it will not be so long till I put up another C15 film.

      Hello Clare and thank you again for commenting. I promised you there would be a film coming up. Thank you for commenting as usual so helpfully. I feel really well. Waiting on the result of a PSA test and then I have a CT scan next week but its a year on since surgery. Amazingly.

    Wonderful scenery and the stones look to have weathered marvellously well considering the weather you get up there 😀. Great to see you out and about on the c15 , take care.

      @@ianaristotlethompson4186 Thank you Ian for such a nice remark. I have some film to make another film but I am having some health issues. So is the C15. I had a carcinoma removed from near my eye today. A biopsy was taken of another possible. I have a hernia repair 18th Sept. I may be able to get a wee run in and edit while recovering. You get old!

      Colin thank you for taking the time to comment and for being so positive. It was great to be out again on the old BSA and the day was almost warm, almost! These old buildings are wonderful. The stones still amaze me with their antiquity.

    I worked at Nigg Bay in 1975 when it was the the base for building the pipelines for North sea oil and gas, made a brief visit in 2010 when staying in Gairloch on holiday. Nice video on your local history. I remember those bitter easterly winter winds to this day. Still have friends who live in Conon Bridge...bike safe.

      @@GawdonBennett I'm glad my wee film jogs old memories. Nigg was the place to be for big pay packets back in the 70s. I remember before the industry came and it was just yellow sand.

    Wonderful video again Hugh. The Struie is my all time favourite road.
    I lived in Invergordon twice. At school age in the High St beside the PO building and in the 80s at Tomich in converted farm cottages. We had two wee lads whom my wife used to take to the beach at Hilton in the summer. I don't remember the Hilton stone being there then but I remember the Shandwick one on the crest there.
    Oil leaks are the curse of our old bikes. But then there is pleasure in seeing to their needs as well as riding.

      @hughferrier5837  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello Davie and thanks for commenting. I must have missed teaching you. I started in Invergordon Academy in '81 and retired in '20. The stone may not have been in Hilton then. It was taken to the Royal Museum of Scotland a while ago. The stone there now is a replica. A fantastic bit of work by a more modern mason. Thanks for commenting.

    Thank you for the upload Hugh and showing us the excellent scenery and historical stones. Your narration is wonderful, thank you. And the C15 seems to be running well, purring along. As for the oil leak, well it is a BSA! Be interesting to see how you sort that.

      Thank you for your great comment. The C15 is running well but leaking so much oil. I was really concerned the gearbox would empty! I have had no joy with stopping leaks. I am about to have another go!

    I'm delighted to see you back on TH-cam and I hope you are well! I am with you 100% concerning blanket 20mph limits and potholes. That was a beautiful ride, thanks for sharing it. The C15 looks and sounds fine. I decoked my AJS over the Winter but now she needs her tappets and points checked plus a bit of a clean for the Spring. The Struie viewpoint is well worth showing again, as is all of the scenery in your part of the world, plus now I know a little bit about the Picts.

    Good to see you out and about again Hugh. Some interesting local history and a visit to the viewpoint in peace and quiet. I took the Edderton route home from Tain last week and had the same thought, but I had to carry some boxes of paperwork so I was in the car and didn't bother. I agree with you about the 20mph limit nonsense, surely Highland Council has more important genuine problems to be spending the money on that they're always claiming they haven't got. They just like exercising their little bit of power, which I'm very happy to say I didn't grant to any of them. Cheers, Mick

      Hello Mick and thanks for taking time to comment. It is a nice run from Edderton to Altnamain. That 20 mph limit drives me nuts. It is shocking Highland Council got away with that. Take care. Hugh

    Nice to see you out and about again on the C15 Hugh. On the gearbox leak - I am sure you will soon be treating us to a fascinating strip down film as you trace that leak, but back in the day - circa 1970/71, I used heavy gear oil in my C15 gearbox. I think you are using 20-50 which is a lot thinner. Mind you - at 19 and 20, I was not a great example of a motor cycle mechanic as my frequent Beezer trouble would attest.

    • @hughferrier5837
      @hughferrier5837  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is great to be out on the wee C15. I am sure using a heavier oil would slow down the gearbox leak. The Unit Single guru, Rupert Ratio, suggests using the same oil in the engine, gearbox and primary chaincase as they could leak into each other. Thank you for helpful advice. Thank you for such a nice comment.
