I can't believe this one is gone. I haven't been there in a few years because no one in my family likes to ride, but this was always one of my favorites. You hit the nail right on the head, I wish they would stop doing that. I know my best friend and I really mis LE CACHOT!!!!!!!
Ah yes, one of the classic rides. I remember the one at the now closed Boardwalk and Baseball, better known as Circus World near Haines City, FL. That one was called the Alpine Bobs and each car was painted to represent a different country that was competing in the bobsled event for the Winter Olympics. God I miss that park.
hey im acctually going to kennywood tomorrow for my schools school picnic and that ride is there they just brought it back yay cant wait to ride it lol=]
this ride was originally took out in 2004. the put a temperery ride in there called the wipeout. you should look up the wipeout. it was a good ride but it made alot of people sick.
A lot of parks almost took this out because someone got killed on it...not at Kennywood tho. I remember when each car had the name of a country painted on the hood! I wonder how fast this goes? It's coming back this summer from what I heard. As much fun as this ride is, I think it would be a lot safer is they made each bobsled one person and put a drop down retraint up against the back seat pad....like on upside down coasters....you wouldn't get knocked around as much....
Well it's back, the ride looks and feels better than ever! The horn is also back although it is different than the one heard here, see my vid for a comparison.
when was this first built? I think it was 2004 when they took it down. It came back in 2009 though did you ride it? I love this, its famous for the horn.
Oops, that was a typo. It's actually BAYERN just as the sign reads. Mistyped it the FIRST time, but got it right through the rest of my comment. Keyboard trouble during proofreading (needed to replace my "cordless keyboard" batteries).
It's actually "Bayren Kurve" (pronounced "BUY-ern"), from German "Bayern" = English "Bavaria" (a province of the country of Germany). Bavaria is to Germany as Quebec is to Canada. Even the ride operator mispronounced the name, although the spelling can be seen in the video and the pronunciation is simple phonetics. It SOUNDS like it's SPELLED. My younger son is a college student majoring in Education toward a career teaching foreign languages (including German) at high school or college level.
The sound of that horn nearly brought tears to my eyes...lol

I remember the days when they would play loud music on this ride and then blow the horn.
