@@annettefrench-bearden5193 Thank you so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed the series, it’s been an incredible journey to share. Your support means a lot, and I’m excited to take on the next adventure!
I came back for another watch and it’s beautiful. As I told you earlier I was planning on doing the CT in 2024 or 2025. I wife needed a new knee so I was needed at home this year so it’s on for 2025. I am officially going to retire and I think this time for good. I have retired twice before but I am feeling a certain kind of urgency to get things done while my body will allow me to. As an East Coast hiker I looking forward to switch backs and the trail not being so brutal. I know it’s not easy but the trails on the East Coast, White Mountains, AT and the LT have no switch backs and tend to go straight up and down, over and over again. The altitude, thunderstorms, mountain bikers, blazing sun and longer water hauls will be much different for sure. Endless views and no green tunnel will be amazing. You did a fantastic job filming this. As a UL hiker you made me think I should get one of those air pumps. lol Back to that thin air. I am thinking of starting in late August and taking about 30 or so days. I am hoping to avoid some of the T-storms and heat. After watching this again I am thinking of leaving a bit earlier. I know how much colder things can get up high. Take care and thanks for sharing your adventure.
@@mtadams2009 Starting the CT in late August sounds like a solid plan, avoiding some of the summer storms while hopefully catching weather that’s not too cold. And yes, those switchbacks are a welcome change from the steep ascents on the East Coast! Wishing you all the best, and cheers to retirement (for real this time). Happy planning!
Appreciate it! Breck’s an amazing spot…bet you got a good taste of the trail there. The whole thing’s a wild ride, hope you get to tackle it soon. Cheers!
Thank you JBen, I appreciate it! If you could start from Silverton City to Durango you would have a more complete overview of the wonderful San Juan! If time is not a concern 🤠
I’ve never had the urge to buy a drone…holy shit! Incredible shots! I’m hopping to do the CT again in the fall. What drone? Any recommendations? Charge off battery brick?
Thank you Moran! Bringing a drone gives you an unparalleled perspective but it's a burden to carry and you have to be careful if you are in a wilderness area because it is prohibited! It’s the DJI mini 3(small and lightweight) with the Fly more kit(2 extra battery including the case to carry it) I brought two 20 000mah batteries(Anker) one for the drone and the other one for everything else! They have now the DJI Mini 4 pro(not sure there’s a big video quality difference between them) Happy trails! 🤘🏻
@@rmoran113 If I remember correctly I was able to charge the drone battery pack(3 batteries) almost twice with a 20,000mah. It’s easy to control but you need to practice quite a bit before getting started. The mini 3 pro have some crash avoidance sensor but its not perfect, you need to be really focused when you fly it!
@@RatatrailI’m also a weight conscious hiker… wouldn’t it be better to just leave charger and charge in drone? You recommend remote with screen or use cell phone?
@@rmoran113 This is a good idea for weight savings but sometimes I’ve drained one and had to take another one right away, I need to be sure I have more than one…it all depends on how much you’re gonna spend time flying it. Remote with screen is also a faster way to connect to the drone and save battery drainage of your cell, I can’t go back to the old remote without the screen.
Congrats on another great thru-hike and another great video series!
Thanks Seths! Hoping that we can exercise our passion for hiking for as long as possible 🤠
Great intro, my favorite episode, looks like some New Zealand mountains, impressively beautiful 🏔️😍
Glad to hear that!
I agree with you, some of the best mountain section the CT has to offer!
Great job 👏🏻 I truly enjoyed this. Congratulations on the finish.

Excellent! Best CT thru-hike on TH-cam. Great job! Lots of great shots and very little commentary. Loved it!
Thank you, glad you like it. I prefer not to add music to let the beauty and sounds of the trail speak for itself, feels more natural.

Oooof 🥹 right in the feels bro. ‘Twas a pleasure *hat tip*
I really enjoy being able to share this trail with you! To the next one 🤟🏻
This is a fantastic video. Thanks for posting.
Glad to hear that, thank you. It’s a pleasure to be able to share this epic CT section.
Nice work guys, congrats!

Thank you Scott. The last 2 sections were my favorite! Incredible memories, hope you get the chance to hike all one day 🏔️

Enjoyed it. Look forward to my 2024 hike
Thank you Bill, I appreciated it. Great to hear that you’ll hike this epic trail…are you planning NoBo or SoBo?
SoBo. Need some acclamation before the big mountains!
@@Ratatrail
@billpowell5207 agreed SoBo is the right choice for so many reasons on the CT, I wish you luck and you good weather.
Wow, that was an excellent video. New follower here. Crow✌️
Awesome, thank you! 🤠

How many battery charges you get w the 20,000 mah battery bank? Are they fairly easy to fly? I see some have crash avoidance

How many days to complete the trail form Denver to Durango, including zero's, and how many zero's?
29 days total including 3 zeroes exactly 🤟🏻
Loin des villes et de la pollution, des vraies vacances…..bravo Ratatrail!
Bien d’accord!
Le plus dure c’est de revenir à la civilisation après de longue randonnée comme celle la!
Seems well marked and well maintained. Any confusing spots?
It will be hard for you to get lost, the CT is very well marked, I still had to check FarOut app a couple of times just to be sure.
