When this video originally came out it absolutely inspired me to dig out mine and my sister’s old OG Gameboys and refurb them both. It was so much fun to do the refurbs and they both look great and work perfectly now :)
Always love seeing Producer Jon and this was a sweet gift, especially that he took the time to also wash and sew the bag. :') Makes me want to backlight MY gameboy color though......
My goodness, Chase HQ was one of the (3) arcade cabinets available around here when I was a little kid! :D Not sure if it was a good game, but we spent a ton of time hanging around it back in the late 80s! :D

My brother isn't hugely into gaming beyond the techie side so having this video to show him some of the restoration techniques is great and we do have a couple of old game boy colours I expect he'd probably have a blast restoring.

Revisiting this video from the future! I remember watching the stream and this video when they first happened. Funny enough a few weeks ago I visited home and found all of my original game boys! I'm really bad at soldering, but I found out a local game store has someone who does mods, so I had an ips installed in my original gameboy dmg. I also got a rechargeable battery installer that charges via USB!
Really glad you revisited this! The original stream is one of my favourite videos on TH-cam. It was fascinating to watch and Jon has such a great ‘presenter’ voice. Get him in front of the camera more often!
I loved that livestream it was such a lovely gift! I also ordered replacement parts for my own Gameboy afterwards (my batteries were held in place by tape because I lost the lid at some point...) I wasn't aware those exist, so thank you :-).
I'm so glad you decided to revisit this because Jon did such a great job and it was this video that gave me the push to do my own repair on my broken 3ds. Not nearly as involved as what Jon did and really a super easy repair, but something about Jons referb video made me feel more assured about doing it myself. Thank you for your great videos!

Hey there's a idea: Outside-Retro! Where the team goes over old consoles and refurbishes them or talks about hidden gems. But I have watched retro referbs on other channels. It blows me away people still make parts for the systems.
I remember Jon giving a shout out to This Does Not Compute in the original livestream and it was cool to see Colin get a reference again in the search results at 18:24!

This is amazing. It seems a lot easier than I thought it would be. This makes me want to take my teal Game Boy Color apart and give it a good cleaning, especially the battery contacts. Getting a backlit screen would also be awesome for it. Not that I really play it all that much, especially in recent times, but I still have fond memories of when I did play it.
I would absolutely subscribe to and watch regularly a "Jon Refurbs Stuff" channel. Jon? OxBox corporate? Y'all get on this!
