    This was a pretty neat fix!!! Good thinking to braze up the king pin! I keep a few files around. One thing about files they get dull. Go at something with a new razor sharp file and you can move some metal. Just an old flat smooth/coarse file is a handy tool. Your videos are just like I am right there with you. I LOVE watching!!! Steve.

    Your exactly right about dealerships. They are only parts changers because they don’t have the experienced technicians and won’t pay to train their people. I don’t know how a person can afford their prices.

    I recall the Wild America's cameraman charging one badger with his camera and the reaction was enough to put the 12 year old in me on my heels, running for my bedroom screaming my fool head off!

    i'm surprised you didn't just order the kingpin kit there readily available and rather inexpensive. Still nice to see you braze up the pin and polish it though, I haven't seen that done for a while.

    Your knowledge of all this is just amazing to me, not very many people can do what you do. Thanks for all the videos, even though I do not work on heavy equipment, I always learn allot from watching you. On a side note, man I was really worried about your dogs with that badger, man them little shits are nothing to mess around with!

    Nice job Warren, back in the day ranches had a mechanic with a well equipped shop was a regular ranch hand on a Dailey basis lived rite on the ranch eat at the cook house , was a good job ? Now it takes a guy like you have to travel all over diff. Ranches or job sites . Your a good man

      I’m thinking the choice about having full time mechanics and shop might be a regional thing. Get around ranches of the Rocky Mountains which can be really large operations and they all have shops and mechanics. I’m thinking the operations where he live are a little smaller and can’t justify the expense.

    Dear Mr. Grease, Very good fix,
    repair. Will outlast the life of that
    Cat. We believe the dog was
    relieved to be called off. Don't
    think there is much TOUGHER of
    an animal than a badger. One on
    one, or otherwise.
    Sincerely, Kathleen.

    Once you braze a heat treated part The steel loses all its hardness you are basically annealing the material drastically lowering the strength of the steel .you are right ,it's not used on the highway so it's not an issue .I am a former heat treater with 20 plus experience and now I am a diesel mechanic.

    • @jameswornica803
      @jameswornica803 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If he had cooled it off quickly wouldn't that bring back some of the hardness of the steel ? But may have made the braze fall off ?

      Nothing is spinning on the nut. The washer he put between the bearing and the nut has a tit that slides into a machine groove. This keeps the nut from spinning.
