Green Machine is in the key of C-Minor, which would be the E-Minor position for a guitar in standard tuning. The song is played using the C Natural Minor Scale {R, M2, b3, p4, p5, b6, b7} C Blues Scale {R, b3, p4, b5, p5, b7}.

The closing passage of Whitewater is one of the greatest pieces of music ever conceived…it’s beautiful.

The intensity in this sound is incredible. Good call. Had to dig this one up on ITunes after I saw the suggestion and give it a listen.

This tune--plus seeing them live--did the same thing to me. Possibly the greatest band of the '90s.
As to be expected, another awesome lesson for an equally awesome lesson. Love to see “Avon” “Mexicola”, or “If Only” from the self titled QOTSA album.

@@DoesItDoom Seems like a semi-legit request for your channel. Early QOTSA could easily be defined as Stoner Rock, and depending on the source, often is. Josh’s warm, fuzzy tone and hypnotic rhythms are very enjoyable, and I have yet to find an online lesson that truly captures his sound. Thanks, again, man.
BTW, the Sabbathi has been getting a lot of use from me. Love that fuzz! Also love that you made the feedback more controllable than the Behringer Super Fuzz. I enjoyed that pedal but just couldn’t crank my amp without serious feedback.

Would LOVE to see some Trouble broken down. Anything from the self titled, Manic Frustration or Plastic Green Head. I'm sure your personal choice would be the right tune. Great content as usual……it would be great to see some drop pedals demos for us mortals that only have one guitar and can’t go retuning the thing often. Digitech and EHX comes to mind.
I have a digitech drop. Those pedals work ok for 3-4 semitones. Not my favorite overall. Will give some thought to doing a demo.

Was either my black delrin Does It Doom pick or a Dunlop Tortex Green. Basically the same, just different colors. Both are 0.88mm.
Very cool lesson and tone, and band of course. I just realized something; the chorus riff on Green Machine is almost identical to the ending riff of Lord of this world, by Black Sabbath. Same power chords (flat sixth, flat seventh, flat third to second) , just the rhythm differs.

Cool! Nice to see I figured this out pretty close, though I adapted it to Drop D tuning. Has anybody else noticed the similarity between the main riff and the main riff in "Makin' Love" from KISS? Not saying Josh ripped it off. Both riffs are great.
