*Veteran’s Day 11/11 - Thank you to all of you past and present serving for every one of us. My father and father-in-law are both Veterans so it hits right at home!* *I mistakenly said the G80 is electronic, but it’s actually Mechanical* As if 12/19 they are still selling these for this price. Check their website yourself and watch their short video here: th-cam.com/video/yLDCUKc8n7Q/w-d-xo.html Screenshot if price on one of the trucks: photos.app.goo.gl/SJtpv4utAx3gzKPL7 I don’t work for them and have no incentive - that’s just for proof of pricing. So what do you think of this lower trim Silverado? With pretty much all of my press loan trucks being expensive and high-end..I wanted to show you a cheaper trim and this one priced at $28k intrigued me. It's pretty bare bones..but does what it needs to! *Thanks for watching and have a great day!*
Prime Autotainment Thank you for showing us the base trims on some vehicles. I actually preferred this Custom over a High Country because it has less features to break. Like the size of the screen vs 12 inch ones which are ridiculous. The column mounted shifter is LOVELY in a truck! I love that. It really isn’t that bare bones like a F-150 XL, I’d said it’s a perfect basic truck for a every day driver.
Thanks for watching Dustin! It’s refreshing to see vehicles that are a little more simple like this with all the new tech and high prices out there. It still has more stuff than my ‘06 had lol 😁. Have a good one my friend!
No point in a sunroof for a truck, it adds more sound inside the cab, which trucks these days are usually built to be quiet. And I do love that this truck didn't have push button, makes it harder for the truck to be stolen unless they hotwire it.
You would probably like the W/T trim even more, they're even cheaper and have the rubber mat instead of carpet on the floor so you don't have to worry about spilling stuff. I've seen a couple quad cab, 5.0l, 4x4 F-150s in XL trim, same story. They still have the typical power windows, locks, and mirrors, A/C, and bluetooth stereo.
I'm still driving my '05 Silverado that I bought new 15 years ago. I like these new ones a lot, very nice looking and good features, but my truck is still running good, so no need for a new one just yet. Like you though, I much prefer the lower trim models without as much useless junk installed.
@@trevorjameson3213 I was the same way with my 2004 Canyon. But I made the jump to this truck a couple of months ago and absolutely love it. Didn't need all the crazy extras.
I just drove home a 2019 NEW model Silverado 1500 WT crew cab 2WD V6 home. To be exact $24,588 + tax, under 30k OTD already included $8K rebates after tax.
You’re literally the only dealer who’s taking people with mobility issues into consideration and I greatly appreciate that! I’ve got an AWESOME 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT in black and chrome. And I’m lucky enough to have bought it with two (Very) much needed side step bars. My wife is 5 foot 2, in 5 foot 6. And I also have chronic pain and joint issues. I can’t recall my dealership mentioning anything about mobility despite me showing up to the Chev dealership with my cane that day. I’m comfy as heck in my truck. And I got very lucky with our Silverado (After trying out 4-5 different trucks, and passing on them due to comfort issues). But it would be AWESOME to see a nod to those with mobility issues in every truck rundown. Even if it’s a small thing like “Hey, got back pain? Well here’s a grab bar and power seats to help you out”. Just wanted to let you know how much I’d appreciate that if I were buying something from you. I bet you found this thing a home pretty quickly! But again, thanks for looking out for folks like me who aren’t as “sturdy” as others. Take care and great job showcasing this vehicle!
Hey Parker thanks for letting me know! Glad to hear it was helpful but sorry to hear about the pain and joint issues. I work for a physical therapy Clinic and do this stuff in the side so I always think about my patients when getting in and out of vehicles. Glad to hear you’re liking your 2015! I appreciate you stopping by and take care! 👍
I have the 2021 custom 4wd with the terrain mode and tow package i plan on putting a level kit on it bigger wheels tinted windows and led bulbs it will look like a higher end truck but way cheaper and honestly most the add ons the better trims have people hardly use and chrome is ugly af
The Redneck Ram Has that been known to cause reliability issues? I’m actually curious, as I am thinking of switching to Chevy from Ram. Don’t know too much about their engines yet, but am looking at a 6.2 half ton
@@clumsybeing9028 I don't know much about the 6.2 engine. But all my research on the 5.3 wasn't looking good for the longevity of them with that system. I saw many different people posting about needing rebuilds all around 100k. I did see people say that one way to help stop that problem is to look into getting the computer flashed to stop that system so it runs in v8 mode all the time without ever dropping to v4. Honestly I don't know first hand how good these newer ones are. I know the vortec 4.8l v8 in my 2004 Silverado is a good engine that is hard to kill. Mine's been ticking probably for 100k miles now and is still fine. I've got 155k on it right now. My dad has an 01 with the same engine and an oil pressure problem that the previous owner tried to have fixed by having the oil pump changed but to no avail. That guy sold it to my family for $2000 because he was scared the engine was done for, and that was way back like like 07 or 08. My dad now has over 200k on his and still running strong. Only thing ever replaced on his has been the fuel pump. On mine I've only had to replace the alternator *excluding normal maintenance items So if it is true that doing that reflash to disable cylinder deactivation basically takes the engine back to being like what was used in our generation of trucks then you should have a good engine. I think the newer ones also include some variable valve timing and stuff that mine doesn't have though. The whole reason I looked at getting a different truck instead of the Chevy back at the beginning of 2017 when I bought a new one was that I was scared of the engine........and then I ended up with a damn potential wreck of an engine anyway because I bought a Ram EcoDiesel.....so yeah......maybe I should have bought a damnable ecoboost ford or something.
Left the dealership yesterday with one. I got the 5.3, and it has the tow package, auto open tailgate, and 4wd. It’s exactly what i wanted in a truck. Power windows, 4wd, cruise control. Chevy wasn’t my first choice, but so far I’m happy. (I’m in Canada and i left mine at 46k)
And NO CHROME BUMPER. I can’t stand the big ugly chrome bumper. With other brands you’re paying a premium for a painted bumper. Standard for this trim and i loves it
Dude you’re the first person ever that’s listed a real price and not MSRP bs. Subscribed. I feel these people killed the truck market bragging about their $85k truck that’s really $25k off sticker. Everyone thinks I’m crazy when I tell them about a thing called rebates.
I love the simplicity of it. Less electronics means less to go wrong. The only changes I'd make are 4wd & tow pkg. I have a 14 Silverado LT w/5.3lL that has a few more options than this & at 71k miles, has been extremely reliable. I keep the AFM from activating by use of a device that plugs into the OBD port. Too many reports of owners of even late model Silverados still having collapsed lifters caused by AFM. Overall, still love the truck.
I was just about to post about how your video is the only one I've seen that mentions anything for those with mobility issues and then I seen your comment about veterans so that makes sense. Thank you for your support of veterans and im sure others outside of the veteran community with mobility issues appreciates those annotations as well.
Sorry this truck is too simple. I need my truck to have a huge TV screen built into the dash to stay on top of my Facebook and Twitter feeds. Glove Box that doubles as a fridge to keep my Vegan meals cold. Floor mats that double as foot warmers. A drivers seat that vibrates to remove the aches from my butt after sitting in StarBucks for hours. A 2000 watt sound system so me and my friends can chill listening to Kenny G while we view the Stars through our massive moonroof, which also doubles as a solar panel to charge the electric motor that gets me 1 extra mile per gallon.
@BKD Vickers I'd like more care for the customers than everything. My used truck came with that garbage aftermarket warranty which eventually the truck did have problems and the warranty basically wanted me to fuck off. Really I rushed buying the truck didn't even realize the warranty was there but I laughed when I saw what they cover. Basically they say anything that happens with the vehicles they warranty will be considered a pre existing condition and won't repair it. That warranty cost me $2k and I feel bad for a guy at work I know he got the warranty for almost $4k.
I just bought a dealership demo 2020 Custom Double Cab/std bed, very similar to the one you reviewed. Your review was spot on. Mine's Satin Steel (gray). Paid about $32k, includes tow package, locking diff, remote start/tailgate and floorliners. As you said, plenty of power, like the stance, lots of room. Basic, but just what I needed. Only thing it needs is lumbar support, USB/Aux port into the stereo and maybe an option for black 18" wheels with All-Terrains. So far I've added tonneau cover, under backseat storage and bed mat all from Weather-Tech and darkened the front window tint a bit. Next up is running boards/nerf bars so my 4'11" wife can get in easier! LOL
Since I was a kid hanging out on my uncle's ranch, I have always loved Chevy. Sadly, after having bought a 2004 Silverado brand new at the time and later a 2012 Chevy Sonic. I've learned that whatever you save on the price you'll eventually pay for in repairs. I do most of the work myself but I've still spent about $8K between both vehicles in repairs and parts. So sad to see such a great company go down in quality. This truck is beautiful and despite my disappointment in the brand, it still turns my head. However, I would gladly pay more upfront if it means it won't start falling apart at 60K miles. My cousins still drive a late 70's era Chevy truck on the ranch. Nothing is built to last like that anymore.
Bought mine in February truck has no issues have close to 9,000 miles have the trailer package and LED bed lights and easy release tailgate hauled two cars already and full bed of sand when working on a project at the house very pleased with the V6 highly recommend
This is exactly like mine, I can honestly say that for someone who isn’t a fan of rattling noises while driving it’s nice not having storage inside the armrest. My height is perfect so the up/down on the seats isn’t an issue for me but it could be for others. Switched from a 2014 single cab so this was a huge change for me, I love this truck. Unfortunately I had to purchase steps for it because it was tough for the wife to get in. Very good review 👍🏽
It’s not just inflation though. Stuff has also been marked way up because they know that there are people willing to pay for it. When they know there’s people willing to pay for it, it makes those who arent willing to pay for it have to bite the bullet and pay for it anyway.
Guitar Prepnand1 right. And even then, adjusted for inflation, that’s less than 10,000 dollars today, which would be a steal for a new truck. I would love it if trucks were so much simpler like back in the day.
A 25k truck for 28k. What’s the point? MSRP isn’t actual value. NO ONE ever pays msrp. It’s just a psychological tactic dealers use to make you think you are getting a bargain. I bought a 2018 Z71 4x4 LT with v8 and leather seats for 34,573 new in 2018 before tax. Msrp was 51k. Give a price you’ll pay to dealer DO NOT listen to their bs just leave your number and tell them to make a better deal and LEAVE. The car salesman said, “We can’t let a 51k truck go for less than 40k”. When I signed the paperwork i said, “This is a 35k truck” lol
A guy at my work bought one of these silverado customs, just like the one in your video, for a little over 26k. We're in Dallas, and you can get some great deals in the surrounding towns.
Wow 🤩 this is a lower end truck?? Ultra fine inside and out it being this nice 👍🏻 I would not know how to act in a more elaborate truck,Silverado has got to be still the greatest vehicle ever
I had a 87 custom deluxe. You are correct V6 engines these days are just as if not more powerful than V8 of the day. Also how crazy is it to say a turbo 4cyl is an option in a full size 🤯🤯🤯
If the big 3 really wanted to they could make the v8 king again but are putting all this time and attention to v6 and 4 bangers. And also slap a turbo on a v8 still makes way more power than a v6 let's be real now
That 4.3 V6 is actually pretty surprising in terms of its performance. I had a 2010 5.3 V8 Sierra and got a 4.3 V6 2019 Sierra . I don't see much difference between the two engines. The V6 feels more like a small V8. Fuel economy, however, has been disappointing on my 19 Sierra. It seems to consume fuel at a rate of 14 mpg in the city. The dealer said it should improve as the engine breaks in but I doubt. I think the big hood and bulkiness of the truck creates too much wind resistance leading to more fuel consumption. For this reason, I'd recommend the 5.3 V8 as the motor of choice in the Sierra/Silverado.
I got a 2020 4.3. I like the truck but hate the fuel management (active or dynamic?). When I step on the gas the rruck hesitates b4 gaining good acceleration. This is my 1st truck so I'm learning as I go. Ive been wondering if I should trade it in for a 5.3 custom...or should I keep it and get a tune or something for the fuel management?
@@chriscooper8210 If you don't lose too much on the trade in and it fits your budget, I'd move up to the 5.3. You get better power, better resale value, and the same if not better fuel economy. I just traded in my 19 Sierra for a 19 Silverado with the 5.3. I got a good deal on the trade in. The 5.3 is much more satisfying and so far, it's getting better fuel economy than the 4.3. I have the 8 speed with the Dynamic Fuel Management. Your 4.3 has active fuel management which means it can go from 8 to 4 cylinders. However, I think the GM engineers did not program the 4.3 to stay in V4 for very long.
I had a 1998 Chevy Cheyenne and I believe that this would be about the same thing. My truck was pretty quiet for me but I think there's been improvement in 23 years the way you talk, that 2020 truck pulls more from the bumper the 98 could only pull 5000 lbs. Thank you
@@Iegend17 I'm saying if it's a daily why pay more for expensive options when all a damp tailgate does is lower slower and a push button start is pointless and you could wear gloves instead of having a heated steering wheel
AS REAL AS IT GETS considering the fact this is a 2020 model that just got on the lot...it’s marked down $11k right away and sales Tax in a new car here is 6.25%...plus ttl - nope not happening
If poor long-term reliability is what you're looking for, the Silverado won't disappoint. If you want an American truck nowadays, Ford is the way to go
Walked into a Chevy dealer asking about a WT crewcab truck , lol, salesmen looked at me all stunned and replied, ooohhh we dont carry the WT models here, everyone buys the LT and up with all the bells and whistles, why do you want a stripped truck anyways........ um for work and hunting and shit you bone head... lol got my WT somewhere else..
Panther Martin77 : I bought a used 2014 Silverado Z 8-5 package. Great truck. Has the 4x4 shifter which is OK as I prefer the 4x4 auto setting. Great mpg for a truck, 13 in town, and I got 26 on the highway at 60 mpg with the variable speed engine. Only complaints is it has carpet and two rust spots on the bed corners by the tailgate top corners.
Thanks for the detailed review. I was considering this trim due to price, but after your video have determined that it does not have the features I want/need. Thanks again
I love the tech but I agree with you on that. I sorta love the simple look. I mean you can always add to it. To me much of the tech added in cars nowdays are cool when you first get it but when it wears off.........
People kill me with this outdated interior shit. I get it, but most of us didn't own the previous model years. Like myself. LoL. If its supposed to be a work truck...... Either way, The comment is waaaayyy over rated.
Yep!! More to break. I plane to keep my truck for years and years. If anything, downgrade it to even more work. Too many people believe in paying off then trading in. Always paying for a vehicle.
If I could put the guts of my '02 Silverado LT into this body style I'd be in love. I have 240K miles on my truck with no rebuilds and it's still running smooth. I don't think they could improve on the engine and transmission of that model. Ever. I will drive it until it dies.
Speaking of adjusting foot pedals, our 2019 2500hd, the steering wheel, foot pedals, and seat belt height all adjust. I move the petals every time I drive it cause he is 6’1” and I’m 5’1”.
I've had one for almost 6 months now.... I've had 4 recalls on it.......... cylinder misfire too. "Service traction control" and "Service parking brake" lights came on once too. I turned the truck off and back on. Seemed to fix it. I'm thinking of trading it in for a Tundra or Frontier
Great job on making us aware that the custom trim level will still work really well and a solid value too! It makes great sense to just buy what you need. Excellent review. I still like the trail boss better, but would also consider a custom trim and keep the savings to fund the gasoline for one year. Keep up the reviews, they really help.
I got a 2020 trailboss custom for $33,700 and it has the 4.3 liter and I like it. Only reason I bought it was the price. I can't see paying $50,000 for a pick up don't care what's in it
I'm sorry but coming from my '18 High Country to something like this would drive me absolutely nuts. If I'm spending this much money on something I think it's worth it to spend another $10k and really enjoy my time with the vehicle and be proud to own it and do everything you can do with a pickup but with more comfort and style. Life is short, don't buy a basic truck.
We were supposed to go to Toyota and get a Camry for my commuter car but happened to see if any deals were available at Chevy. 4 hours later and I’m driving off the lot with a 5.3 4x4 custom! 35900 was the price. Tax license and finance was another 10k here in Cali. I got the tow package, dumbo mirrors, beefed up tow bar, running chrome aluminum boards, soft drop tail gate, factory bed coat with Chevy logo, full factory rubber mats n bedliner, carpeted wheel wells, and a lockable three section taneau cover. I wanted a key start and the 6 speed transmission because I heard that the 8 speeds were problematic. Being color coded all around, my custom truck looks way better than the higher trims. My main gripe is only with that the driver seat is not 6 or 8 way for getting the driver fitted and stereo control on the wheel. Those two added options wouldn’t be that expensive to be standard. Guess I’ll be ready to make high country when the zombie apocalypse comes around! She was sitting on the lot for 5 months when covid hit back in May 2020 with 16 miles on her.
If I had the choice between this and the high country (I think that's the highest) I would get this. Simple, less useless stuff, and just a good truck!
Thanks for the upbeat review. Vietnam veteran and first time truck buyer here. As a Consumer Reports reader I am somewhat wary of the Silverado quality reputation compared to the Toyota Tundra. I am trying to figure out all the RST features and worried that one or two are not working right right off the bat.
Most of the difficulties are with the center stack display which I have to fully understand before I can say whether something is wrong or is just a limitation in the design. Another brand p’s dealer had a tech girl, full time, who had the job of teaching customers, at leisure, about intricate technology - which was nice but so far Chevy is doing good enough. ....... I bought an RST with a Safety Package the 3rd feature of which says it has some kind of warning for the driver about straying out of your lane. So far I have not found how it works nor has anyone of three employees I asked explained exactly what it is or how it works. (But I did want this feature).
Easy tailgate step but don't trip on that retaining wire....I noticed that the door catch points are not real grippy - I mean in a strong wind they can blow into the car parked next to you!
Chris L Work Pick Ups should be available as just that; simple, tough, no nonsense. Its mainly due to the manufacture wanting to charge more. I would still only buy the last of the simple Nissan Frontiers without power accessories. These can be discounted down to 15,000 range. These ridiculous 30 thousand dollar or more trucks are hardly needed for light duty or occasional truck, land scaping, etc.
@@tomclose6643 doesn't work when you're sitting on top of ice. At my college that parking lots are pretty neglected when weather hits, not by anyone's fault just because they're super full and nearly impossible to safely plow out snow without hitting anyone's car. When moving out for Christmas break someone with a 2WD F-150 was sitting on top of an ice patch with both his rear tires, the front tires were on solid ground. He only got out because while he hit the gas someone was pushing on the front. Almost got in a wreck. Is it supper common? Probably not. But if I'm going to buy a full-sized truck, I want a V-8 with four wheel drive.
I really wish trucks would stop hiking up in price so much, I'm the second owner of my 04 2500hd silverado ext. Cab long bed, the original owner paid 25k (rounded up) for it, granted he did have a discount from nearly 28k but thats out the door for a 3/4 ton truck, it's a W/T too so a step up from the Base trim. It has power windows, mirrors, cruise, auto power locks (I installed remote entry by simply replacing the passenger switch panel) , auto headlights and quite a few other options which for the time was great! She only has 97k on her but had 83k when I bought her. Granted it's a 6.0 2wd truck, you just simply cannot get a equivalent 3/4 ton truck let alone a 1/2 ton truck for anywhere near that price, the cheapest 3/4 ton truck with a double cab and long bed costs nearly 40k (not even a custom) if I remember correctly. Its absolute madness...
But... it's a Chevy. And I own an 06 Silverado LT Ext Cab with the 4.8. It's been a good truck. Bought it off-lease in 2006 (it was built in July 05) for $23k OUT THE DOOR with 13,000 miles on it. But there is no way I'd buy anything GM is putting out right now.
Christian Morales my 2015 Silverado needed a new transmission.. while my dads 2007gmc Sierra classic has 260k miles with no issues and that’s his work truck.. it sucks, but new gm vehicles are trash.
New gms arent even remotely trash. Most reliable truck one can buy. Ive owned many. Still have never had a single issue with any of my 15 and newer gms
rye rye Even my dads friend who owns a transmission shop and loves gm said gm transmissions on the newer trucks are just failing left and right. He literally has parts stocked in his shop because he uses them so often. He even had a 2018 Denali in there because the dealer refused to pay the full price for the transmission repair and thus the guy wanted a second opinion/see if he could get it cheaper and that truck had 15k miles! Even as I go through forums you see many costumers complaining about their gm transmissions and of course there is even a class action lawsuit against gm for the transmission.
Sorry that link is the same for every video - probably would have to search Amazon for Silverado compatible lights or it might tell you which specific model of that brand fits.
I bought a new 2017 Silverado LTZ with Z-71 off road package. Upon doing the first oil change, I noticed that Chevy no longer gives you a metal engine skid plate. It's now plastic. Also I just received a recall notice in the mail for a potential problem with a booster on the braking system. List on my truck was over $52,000.
Thanks for reviewing these run of the mill trim levels. Everyone else always has the top of the line ones. This is a good looking truck at an attractive price. Not sure it’s worth the as tested $37k though. In the Chevrolet, I’d definitely go with the 5.3L, which is still no power house compared to the EcoBoost engines. I’ve heard that the 2.7 turbo has horrible gas mileage, so I’m not sure what the point of that engine is. My main issue with these is the overall reliability. My bosses brother just bought a 2020 GMC Sierra Denali 2500 Diesel two weeks ago Friday. The day after he picked it up (with less then 200 miles on it) the motor died. A $90k truck with less then 200 miles on the clock! After having it towed in, he was informed that they can not fix it due to everything being on back order. They refused a loan vehicle as well. Unfortunately, he has had to get an attorney involved. Any how, keep up the good work on these reviews Nolan!
That’s a shame about the Turbo...no surprise though. Even the V8 didn’t do as well as I hoped compared to the last gen I had last year...I didn’t care for last gen overall either though lol and I remember the issues you talked about. That’s so terrible about that 2500...just awful. Especially not being fixed. What a crappy situation. Thanks for stopping by man! I reached out to a Subaru Dealer in another town that’s building a Subaru dealership here....hoping to get my foot in the door with the people here. That would be awesome to have them in town! Tried calling and emailing the Subaru lady in charge of press loans and no response or anything but I’m gonna keep trying! 😕
Prime Autotainment ugh...the people at Subaru suck. Calling Dave Erickson.... He needs to put in a good word! 😆 Thinking about upgrading in a few months, but can’t decide if I should go ‘17 Outback or ‘16 NX200t, or just get an ‘18 Legacy. The Legacy is definitely the least expensive route to get the equipment I want, but I like the idea of the higher ride height of the other two. I like the ‘18 Camry too. 🤔😫
Dmitry B Unfortunately. He stopped at a light, truck cut off and wouldn’t restart. This was the day after he bought it. Been 2 weeks and they are saying all the parts are back order because of the GM shutdown.
I love my 2.7, i avg 18.5 driving mostly city/hwy. do i think its really any better than a v8 in the mpg dept? Around town definitely, on the hwy not really. It does have a lot more balls than the 5.3. That being said the 5.3 gets better mileage than other competitors. Hemis are just hogs and the coyotes arent bad , but definitely not as good as the 5.3. But the 5.3s are slow even after a tune compared to the others
I'm in Texas as well, I got the same truck in summit white with the soft gate, 36k. The V6 is slightly underpowered, and thirsty. I'm gonna try some tune options and cool air intake, hopefully that won't burn me too bad at the pump. Good truck, can't wait for the first road trip! Great review, if I don't see more videos of people's experiences with this 4.3 I'm gonna post my own.
Nice to see a reasonably priced entry level full size truck that is not a complete turd, assuming you can actually get it out the door for no more than 30k. Good review.
It’s possible to find a Ram 1500 tradesmen 5.7 and a SXT Ford F-150 5.0 Both with Crew Cab end of the year deals. These trucks has the same options or more, post a Chevy Silverado 5.3 crew cab for 28k if you want to sell some trucks.
You should not swap out an led bulb in a projector housing. The beams are cast in every direction which blinds the oncoming traffic. Only use an led bulb in a projector housing.
Yea LED is much better in projector - but today’s reflector housings have strict cutoff lines of where light is emitted (at least they are supposed to). The old style housings cast light everywhere which sucks for LED. Some LEDs have much better beam patterns in reflectors too and some don’t
I took all 3 engines out for a test drive when I bought my 19 Sierra in August. The 4.3 definitely has more grunt. It drives more like a small V8 but the 3.6 Pentastar and the 3.3 v6 in the Ford seemed to get better fuel economy on my test drives.
4.3 is the best engine for sure. The Ram still wins between the 6 cylinder options because of the 8 speed transmission and gas mileage. The Ram is slighty faster even though you have to wind the engine up more but the gas mileage is noticeably better over the Chevy. Ford's 3.3 feels very weak compared to the other two. I really wish you could take Chevy's 4.3 and pair it with the ZF 8 speed from Ram.
Went in to look at Colorado (to hopefully save some $$$) BAHHH! They directed me to the CUSTOM... whoa!!! I freakin tripped man! They are as smooth as Camaros! They also have some KILLER lease specails on Silvos right now too. I’m 43 and only need SIMPLE shit. I do NOT need a Bougie truck man. Sellin one of my bikes and highly thinking Chevy Custom soon. It’s what all us old guys want
Thank you Leo! The crazy part is the actual MSRP was like $11k more lol but I was surprised they offered such a big discount I. A brand new 2020 model 🤷♂️
Orlando Hernandez nothing that I know of lol they had probably 10 trucks just like this at that price. It’s a dealer in a smaller town outside the dallas area so they have a lot of competition, therefore they tend to have these kind of deals
That’s a good price. I just purchased a 2017 silverado 1500 lt all star addition. Has 35k miles and it was 31k. Now granted it has all the bells and whistles, no sun roof I don’t want one😂 but more simple of a truck, LESS TO GO WRONG.
Somehow my 20 yr old co-worker "kid" got suckered into paying 45k for the 19 "custom" Silverado. The most stock looking truck on the parking lot, dim yellowass headlights, remote start, led bed lights, chrome exhaust tip which he says they told him its custom, and he swears that them stock ass 20 inch wheels cost over 2k 🤦🏻♂️. Cloth manual seats, 2wd, no two package and a small v8. But hey its got remote start and he can see it on his phone 😂🤷🏻♂️. Poor bastard!! Me and the guys had told him to look around for a clean 1-2 yr used, low miles, premium model truck, you get all the fancy at a better price than new, but he said he wanted to pop his cherry, long story short, he said he's looking for a part time side job cause he pays over $650 a month and his insurance is high.
Dang what a shame. Sounds like a horrible deal to regret lol...and that insurance is insane. Poor kid lol. Maybe he'll learn to spend his money more wisely next time once he gets out of debt
@@spookycrane9318 🤣😂🤦🏻♂️ happens to best of us. Luckily for me, when i was younger a friend of mine's dad owned a small local dealer and told me all about the big time dealership bs they use to try to catch all the young horny new drivers, especially the first time buyers. So i knew not to fall for that stuff.
Jae kamacho lmao sounds like most kids out here in Texas , I’m 21 and i bought me a 2014 F-150 fx4 instead of the new ones , paid 18k cash instead of buying a new one for 40 k , smartest move I ever made
I don’t typically buy new vehicles but I do like this bare bones trimmed out truck. You can always upscale & enhance w/after market install options later many better than Chevy stock & way cheaper and you’re not financing them over the term of the note.
4WD is an expensive option. I would recommend against getting it unless you have a need or you just like the look. But, if you don't need it, it's a great way to save $80 off a monthly payment and still have a great truck.
@@esea3553 it wasnt horrible at all, I have a LTZ in a LT body. Heated and Cooling seats, sunroof, heated back seats. All safety features, reverse mirror, bunch of cameras to do a 360° I see a LTZ with less features and they wanted 62k. I searched for 2 months to find the right package and jumped on it when I found it. It's a needle in a haystack
You got screwed the truck at this point is worth half. Would never pay full price for a new truck. I bet you have a few thousand miles and looks new still? Buy a certified used one and save tons of money. Buying new is really unnecessary and takes advantage of your desire to not wait the short time to get one loaded used still new looking for half the price for new.
This is chevys attempt to compete with the f150 stx package (basically a xl with more interior and exterior features) that is around the same price, that everyone (including me owns). Still doesn’t beat it. My truck has a 2.7 eco boost, I get 20/26 mpg average 22-22.7mpg. I have all the same features as that truck(which isn’t saying much). I have the sync 3 with apple CarPlay which is a much better radio, plus a middle console, fog lamps, and steering wheel controls. Also think my truck looks better. Chevys are just too expensive, I couldn’t pass up the value I got with my ford.
Seen how many issues that eco boost has had?.....even my neighbor had problems.....naturally aspirated motors are way to go I bought mine in August and ford couldnt match even close to deal I got....just depends on location and timing.....fords deal was a work truck, chevys deal was similar to ford XLT loaded....all depends

Thanks for showing us
Thanks for watching Dustin! It’s refreshing to see vehicles that are a little more simple like this with all the new tech and high prices out there. It still has more stuff than my ‘06 had lol 😁. Have a good one my friend!
Mayck Colares thanks for watching! 👍
This won’t make a good daily driver at a reasonable price.
No push button start, sunroof, very little chrome...dark headliner .... .....simple truck & crew cab....my kind of truck!! Love it 👍😍
No point in a sunroof for a truck, it adds more sound inside the cab, which trucks these days are usually built to be quiet.
Yeah actually look pretty. Would look better in all black.

Hi squidward
I personally think the custom is a nice truck even for a lower end model. It’s for the basic person who just wants a truck with the engine and box.
Plus the less features it has means less things that can go wrong with it later on. Maybe
I have the 2021 custom 4wd with the terrain mode and tow package i plan on putting a level kit on it bigger wheels tinted windows and led bulbs it will look like a higher end truck but way cheaper and honestly most the add ons the better trims have people hardly use and chrome is ugly af
and no turbo
I like how this one has less shit to go wrong on it
except for the afm which will ruin that engine by 100k
The Redneck Ram What’s that?
@@clumsybeing9028 active fuel management. mainly the cylinder deactivation portion on it.
On mine I've only had to replace the alternator *excluding normal maintenance items
So if it is true that doing that reflash to disable cylinder deactivation basically takes the engine back to being like what was used in our generation of trucks then you should have a good engine.
Glad to hear it, thank you! Vehicles I get from a dealer I’ll make sure to list the actual list price too 👍
I love the simplicity of it.
Glad you noticed it. I work at a physical therapy clinic too so I always keep my patients in mind with that 👍. Thanks for watching!
Sorry this truck is too simple. I need my truck to have a huge TV screen built into the dash to stay on top of my Facebook and Twitter feeds. Glove Box that doubles
as a fridge to keep my Vegan meals cold. Floor mats that double as foot warmers. A drivers seat that vibrates to remove the aches from my butt after sitting in StarBucks
for hours. A 2000 watt sound system so me and my friends can chill listening to Kenny G while we view the Stars through our massive moonroof, which also doubles as
a solar panel to charge the electric motor that gets me 1 extra mile per gallon.
mtmiller1210 Kenny G and Starbucks does sound pretty good
😂
@Tony Alston How dare you insult the soy farming community because of a bad modern trend.
LMAO!!
John Aguilar glad to hear it!
I remember when you could get a brand new ford f-150 for under 20k.
Trucks are too expensive these days.
it just our money worth less.inflation sucks
I remember you could get a f100 for 2000.00. But that was in 1975. 😱
It's not just trucks to me most all vehicles are expensive now thanks to inflation
Great advice for a lot of people.. smart

You cover a lot of details which auto reviewers generally skip mentioning. Love it!!
Thanks for reviewing this model. Im one of those ‘regular’ people that buy ‘regular’ people trim levels. Lol
Honestly I think this is a great balance of technology and simple-ness. This truck has what I need. Note that this is in my opinion
Very nice! I’m sure most people will still spend extra for the V8 but still. I know, it’s hard to believe a 4 banger is really optional lol...hmm 🤔🤔
Prime Autotainment I know the 4.3 is an awesome engine. It’s been a proven engine
If the big 3 really wanted to they could make the v8 king again but are putting all this time and attention to v6 and 4 bangers. And also slap a turbo on a v8 still makes way more power than a v6 let's be real now
@@shawnlopas8998 I never said that. I was referring to V8 motors of the past. To me turbos are another moving part to break
I'm not sure why this video from 11/2019 showed up on my feed in May of 2022, but wow wouldn't it be nice to buy a truck for this price today!
This is actually a very nice beginners truck. The color is great for the design. Great review Nolan 👍

Thank you

Great job on making us aware that the custom trim level will still work really well and a solid value too! It makes great sense to just buy what you need. Excellent review. I still like the trail boss better, but would also consider a custom trim and keep the savings to fund the gasoline for one year. Keep up the reviews, they really help.
Thank you Stephen!
I got a 2020 trailboss custom for $33,700 and it has the 4.3 liter and I like it. Only reason I bought it was the price. I can't see paying $50,000 for a pick up don't care what's in it
I had 3 different chevy with the V6 liked them and always got very good mileage and now I have a 2011 with 5.3 and it gets fantastic mileage
Buy one of these and wait a few years. Find a wrecked one in a junkyard and swap out the front for the expensive version ;)
I used to own a 2000 GMC Safari with the 4.3 ltr V6. If it’s the same one, it’s a great engine and has lots of power/torque and very dependable.
I sold chevys for 8 year's. not now. that's a great walk through. good job. I think that's a nice truck.
Handles that Hunt county farm road pretty well.
those prices are only found in houston/dallas area.. here in the valley.. this exact model is over 35k out the door and thats if your lucky!
What are the features that don’t seem to be working right away?
Most of the difficulties are with the center stack display which I have to fully understand before I can say whether something is wrong or is just a limitation in the design. Another brand p’s dealer had a tech girl, full time, who had the job of teaching customers, at leisure, about intricate technology - which was nice but so far Chevy is doing good enough. .......
I bought an RST with a Safety Package the 3rd feature of which says it has some kind of warning for the driver about straying out of your lane. So far I have not found how it works nor has anyone of three employees I asked explained exactly what it is or how it works. (But I did want this feature).
This is GREAT, a GOOD TRUCK WITH OUT ALL THAT EXTRA JUNK.
I just want a basic truck with basic thing without all the high tech crap that usually goes wrong after a couple years and affordable to fix.
Easy tailgate step but don't trip on that retaining wire....I noticed that the door catch points are not real grippy - I mean in a strong wind they can blow into the car parked next to you!
Mentions 2WD:
Aight imma head out
So far it seemed like a good review though maybe he should do the RST models next if he hasn't yet.
Lmao
Great review! You're right the seats are not only rock hard they are much smaller seat bottoms than previous gen.
Wow. We need more simple work tricks without a bunch of options and plain steel wheels, 4 cylinder manual, with a sturdy seat for under 15 grand.
Is it possible to get the phone controls added into the steering wheel with the custom model?
Lost me at 2 wheel drive. Wouldn’t work where I live.
Agree Where I live you have to own at least one vehicle with 4X4
put sand bags in bed 2- 75lbs will work fine , drive like a sensible person all good
Hell yes!
Agreed! I would NEVER buy a 2 wheel drive truck!
Inflation is real. Over 2% a year. Dollar is in its way to being worthless
But... it's a Chevy. And I own an 06 Silverado LT Ext Cab with the 4.8. It's been a good truck. Bought it off-lease in 2006 (it was built in July 05) for $23k OUT THE DOOR with 13,000 miles on it. But there is no way I'd buy anything GM is putting out right now.
pughconsulting great engine that 4.8 V8. Had it in my old 2000 Silverado
Why’s that??
Is that the correct link for the LED lights? Says they don't fit the Silverado...
Sorry that link is the same for every video - probably would have to search Amazon for Silverado compatible lights or it might tell you which specific model of that brand fits.
Very good job on the review on the Silverado the best I've seen yet .
Thank you!
Dang a plastic skid plate on a Z71..that's terrible. Sorry to hear about that recall!
The simpler the better!
My next pick up truck will be something simple like this. The hell with all the extras. All i need is a crew cab 4 by 4 and a bed.
How Does It happen 2020 Sierra 2500 Died Engine Less than 200 miles! Are you joking me!?
I love that you included the tow rating.
Germain Gonzalez I know right? No hitch or trailer wiring must save you a ton of weight for towing capacity lol.
I got the same truck with 4x4, a bed liner, remote start, and the auto tailgate for $32 out the door.
4 banger?
@@tejanoboi7243 4.3 v6
I'm in Texas as well, I got the same truck in summit white with the soft gate, 36k. The V6 is slightly underpowered, and thirsty. I'm gonna try some tune options and cool air intake, hopefully that won't burn me too bad at the pump. Good truck, can't wait for the first road trip! Great review, if I don't see more videos of people's experiences with this 4.3 I'm gonna post my own.
Had the 4.8 V8 in my 2007 GMC Classic, great engine.
Funny you described it as a great engine, bc, them 4.8s have adopted the nickname 4.great.
I have 4.8 too. It's a 500k engine
Great for boosting as well. Short stroke and small bore with large bore spacing in an iron block = strong and reliable.
Nice to see a reasonably priced entry level full size truck that is not a complete turd, assuming you can actually get it out the door for no more than 30k. Good review.
Thanks for reviewing a lower trim truck! Please do it with the other brands too.
Great looking truck! Inside and out. Fantastic price for a full size truck. Good review..Thanks.
Thank you!
I would take the Silverado with a 4.3 v6 over a Ram 3.6 v6 or a F-150 3.3 v6 any day of the week....as a base truck. Liked the review!
Thanks Michael!
Michael Horner Good for you! Why do you think we care about your preference?
The body looks pretty sharp!
It sure is nice driving my 2020 Chevy Silverado
Very good video. Sometimes basic is king especially when your budget is not.
Thank you Leo! The crazy part is the actual MSRP was like $11k more lol but I was surprised they offered such a big discount I. A brand new 2020 model 🤷♂️
Prime Autotainment :). That is mind blowing.
Thanks for stopping by Leo!
@@PrimeAutotainment what was the special occasion for the discount?
Jae kamacho Ima be honest I fell for the same shit except I got an fj cruiser ‘14 fresh out of high school
Jae kamacho lmao sounds like most kids out here in Texas , I’m 21 and i bought me a 2014 F-150 fx4 instead of the new ones , paid 18k cash instead of buying a new one for 40 k , smartest move I ever made
As a 20 year old, that is probably the dumbest thing he could’ve done with his money-from a 20 year old
I don’t typically buy new vehicles but I do like this bare bones trimmed out truck. You can always upscale & enhance w/after market install options later many better than Chevy stock & way cheaper and you’re not financing them over the term of the note.
What’s the point in only lining the tailgate? That makes zero sense.
@@carlovesfam6069 I have this truck and it only came with the tailgate lined, not the bed itself. Dumb idea
Save on cost
4WD is an expensive option. I would recommend against getting it unless you have a need or you just like the look. But, if you don't need it, it's a great way to save $80 off a monthly payment and still have a great truck.
The LT I just bought came out to 56k, I had 12k on my trade plus 30k down still owe about 15k . Insane prices for the LT
BigRed Made In America horrible deal... id drive it off a cliff
I bought a '17 LT brand new with quite a few options for $33k. $56k sounds pretty damn high.
@@mojorisin7371 I got offered 49.5k to buy back, didnt get screwed what so ever. I'm trying a LT with every option a LTZ has.
Britain is where I bought my 2021 in Greenville great people there
very nice!
Seen how many issues that eco boost has had?.....even my neighbor had problems.....naturally aspirated motors are way to go
I bought mine in August and ford couldnt match even close to deal I got....just depends on location and timing.....fords deal was a work truck, chevys deal was similar to ford XLT loaded....all depends
I hope more truck makers offer these more simple options.
