- A sorry sight for this Class 90 'Skoda' as it reaches the end of the line at SCDL Ltd. The majority of the loco cut-up with the salvage process underway.
See aerial views of the site including the 7 x sister locos sat there looking on awaiting their turn in the near future.
Thanks for watching.

Man thats such a shame, if they where looked after, they would still have so much more life left in them.
Just another illustration of the failure of the previous Government policy which claimed it wanted more freight on rail but does nothing to ensure the level playing field to make it happen, particularly using the most environmentally friendly mode of haulage.
An absolute waste. Some of those class 90s had spent nearly 20 years rotting away at Crewe
Very sad seeing class 90 being scraped 😢😢😢😢😢 plus they should kept class 90
These ones have no chance of working anymore, scrapping was invetible
@@GreatEasternMainlineSpots yes I agree with you there with so much time stored out of service and no preventive maintenance to keep them serviceable they were destined sadly for the cutter's torch
Fascinating video & great catch as per. Something incredibly morbid & unnerving about this one, all lined up watching what’s coming to them
Always sad to see a loco being scrapped.
The loco is about 80% shredded to bits, meanwhile another 2 have already been broken up at EMR Liverpool Docks. A total disgrace that they've not just been languishing at their birthplace for the past 20 years, they've spent more time rotting than they have been working.😡😣
The class 90s are 30 plus years old, this doesn't surprise me, considering how hard they are worked😊
These were left/dumped in the sidings for over 10 years.
Hi I tested every single one of the class 90s and the 91s at Crewe Works. Considering that they are 30yrs old they should still have a life on the rails. They are still running the HST which are nearly 50yrs old. Age does not mean redundancy
RIP 90022

Dream on
@@easternrailfreight No. Saving them can be reality.
@@trainlover16 No it can’t. Go and buy one then
@@easternrailfreight I don’t have the money, but someone must.
@@trainlover16 No they really should not. These 90s are beyond saving, they are missing parts and are only good for scrap. There are plenty still running.
Why did they not go to CF Booth at Rotherham with a rail connection, instead of a landlocked yard, with the road transport costs that would involve?
So sad.... I remember as a kid going on a school trip to BREL looking at these being built. They were my favourite Electric loco and the first class I collected all of the numbers! With this renaissance of rebuilding locos (57s 69s, re-enginned 66s), I dont understand why they couldnt have done the same... put more powerful motors and modern control systems in. It wouldnt have been that difficult surely?
Great video as always 👍
Another cracking video well done great camera work as usual I am really enjoying your lovely videos and camera work keep your lovely camera work up I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on TH-cam bye for now Philip
At least there are some preserved examples at crewe. Have the 91s in storage, have they been scrapped. Thank you.
Hi Tom, the class 92’s which were stored in the Doncaster area have all now been scrapped also. They went to Sims in Newport last year.
@@trainsplanes 92s? i thought they were all still alive? (Including stored examples)
@@trainman86trainstramsandmoreIt's a mis-type; no Class 92s have been scrapped yet.
91s you mean .@@trainsplanes
The class 90 is old, look at the new class 99, soon to come (Eurodual 6000 for UK) !!
Sad to see this, stll relatively young if compared to class 50s still in use. They still have a life span.
Is it just me, that's a very strange operation.... mini digger, very large scrap handler all hired in I would say ?? I'd love to see the bidding process to take on this work ??? Thats not a scrapyard ?
😢 Very sad.
Good while it lasted.
Truly a sad sight 😔😔
Would like one in my garden near West coast main line branch line off into my garden with my cottage ,and have time to bring back to brand new what a locomotive class 9o is shame to see break it up johnrey otrizs model railway
Oh, you bastards! Why couldn't they have just preserved it?! I hope the some of the others don't meet the same fate...
The actual cost of electricity used to power these loco's, less cost to use Diesel Locos
Until oil runs out. Mind you, hope it doesn’t for many years.
@@damonrobus-clarke533 There is more oil under the ground than we can use for hundreds of years. "Running out" is essentially theoretical.
You would have thought maybe a European country might have taken them like the class 87 and 86 that have been exported.
Maybe before 20 years of outdoor storage
Not in this rotten condition!
Sad sight granted but as some of the Class 90's had been stored outside out of traffic for almost 10 years the electrical and mechanical condition of them probably wouldn't have been all that good 😮 but as they had almost 30 years service from introduction in 1988/90 when they were built at Crewe Works perhaps some of the less rusted away and damaged examples could hopefully find a new operator and run again on the mainline
😢😢😢 Another batch of coke cans
Scrapyards are a lot tidier than they used to be! Is there even a rail connection to this one?
No, they came in via road transport
very sad, but like everything else if some one doesn't come forward to buy then don't cry, on the other hand why not dissmantle for spares
They made her mates watch too, bloody torture……doesn’t seem much regard for possible asbestos or PCBs.
Why can’t they use them?
Uneconomic to return to traffic and the cost of traction power has led to DB ceasing use of the class completely.
Because db left them to rot rather than let anyone else make use of them and now they're too expensive to try and repair to mainline specs
Simple fact the electricity is too expensive for freight trains.
@@stevenmoran4060 Crazy gov policies we have to endure these days.
@@stevenmoran4060then why does the class 93 & class 99 exist?
Its
Its fate, not it's (it is) fate. That doesn't make sense.
Thanks - I’ll stick to the filming. 😜🙈
Why get rid of a engine that is still new in my eyes? And why don't you show the engine at ground level in the yard for the TV programme Scrap kings
These are absolutely rotten, one of them is even missing part of the roof. There are others elsewhere in much better condition that are also stored surplus.
Perhaps you should send this video to Ed Milliband, the new Sec if State of Transport, and the Minister for Rail.
It borders on industrial & environmental vandalism.
How? Cutting up locomotives that don't work is far better than leaving them to decay and potentially pollute the environment. I've seen that happen, it's an eyesore and a hazard, not to mention it takes up space that could be better used
Go electric GO electric the goverment said/says yet they scrap loco's that some have spent more time in store than running ,not quite a scandal but does beggar belief ,if this scrappy has any sense they will store certain items to sell to the companies that will keep some running
I give you: class 93 and 99
not nice to view, only disliked the video because of the content, not the person who made the video Neil
