Thank you for showing the modification. I use the AquaEl Filter in nearly all of my shrimp tanks, but sometimes I think the sponge could be a bit bigger... This tip is great!

I have only one spong on my filter and the first time I made this set up, the spong imploded after a while and the pump didnt work that well...after cleaning the spong it worked perfect again...so when the spong starts to implode...maybe its time to clean it 🙂

About a year ago I bought a Schego air pump and in use with a high quality air stone, I can hardly hear the noise of the pump. Schego airpumps rock. They're a bit expensive, from 29 euro, but believe me, they're worth while. I do like this combination though. I have a few Eheim sponge filters and they work fine. Tried the mini pump, did not fit. Thanks for the presentation vid

What a great modification. Is it possible you could let me have a rough idea of the total height of the two filters when they're together please? I don't want to order the two items and find they're to tall for the tank I'm going to use.

I put a brand new Pat mini filter in my shrimp tank last night but there is a constant noise coming from where the powerhead is. Any idea what this could be? Is it because there’s still air trapped inside?

Will this aquael filter original pump be good for my aquael laddy 25L 40 fish tank ..I only have 4 gold fish inside it..at moment I have the aquael filter pump 300 ..and don't seem to pick much fish droppings up...?
What double sponge filter did you find that fits? Are they all they same? I'm afraid to order and have it not fit properly.
I had to place netting over the holes of the powerhead as I heard newborn shrimplets can get sucked in them the filter sponge that comes with it is not small enough for shrimplets to crawl through the holes, so not making it 100% shrimp safe. Has anyone else heard of these potential issues with this filter?

Alex Graham yes. The filter is rated for up 120L if i remember correctly. Very nice small filter for a small tank

I'm sure you already found a solution but for anyone else wondering the Aquaneat powerhead 60gph fits most double spongue filter and works great in my tank.
Can find on amazon for like 8 us dollars
What size or which air sponge filter did you get that fits mini ?
Also, would you feel that this would be a good filter setup for a 10 gal beta tank?
For the betta, I would probably go for just an air powered filter. Some bettas wouldn't love the flow coming out of this.

Hi !! I really need your help bcse ( sorry for my english I'm french). I'e started an shrimp aquarium one week ago ... and i would like to have cristal red in my tank... BUT my pH is still the same 7.... and idk HOW to low the pH to 6 ... or 5.5 ... i've a simple exhausteur ... neutral graver .. please help me .. i tried many things cattapa, oak leaf
You need a substrate that buffers. Cattapa leaves and any chages you make will create more inconstancy for the shrimp which is worse than just a stable PH of 7. Rather setup a new tank using a substrate that buffers like akadama or ADA amazonia and as soon as that tank is right, move them over.

I use this filter (2) in my sewellia lineolata tank and it is great, never have any problems with it and it makes a strong oxygenated water current....video on my channel...

i modified it to 25% and venturi minihead so it shoots the water like piss XD but oxygen is very high in the tank
