I have had my 208 since September and have really grown to like the driving position and dash layout. The small steering wheel feels very sporty. I do agree though that they made a mistake putting the temperature controls in the software and not as physical buttons. It is more distracting to use when on the move. That's the only thing I'd change. I think if people are comparing the 408 and the C5 there's not much between them apart from the styling. The 408 is much nicer looking.

Let's be honest, how many times do we need to actually change the temp. control? We do change it, but not that much>
Peugeot does make some amazing looking cars these days They're definitely on the roll at the moment. And not just great looking cars . Reliable as well! I own 2 pugs. One of them is 15 years old 308 GT 2l HDI with 143k on clock and I had no issues whatsoever. Done Europe trip in it 4700 miles in 2 weeks no problem. Then I own 308 GTi BPS 270 for over 5 years now and same not a single issue! Not even burnt bulb 🙏 well Done Peugeot 👏👏👏
Beautiful car as always by Peugeot but the only issue I have is the tiny engine with tiny BHP for a big car like this... outside that is a good all rounded
Great design, front and back. I think I prefer the rather funkier dash to the CX5 . I would consider the 408 over the CX5. But if I wanted and estate then the 508, just a beautiful sleek low estate car. 208 is my favourite small hatch for design too. Nice colour range for Peugeot range, different and bold.
I would consider the 408. The price point however is very high. We just brought an e2008 GT and love it. I drive a 330e M Sport and I’d need to have a test drive for a few days to see if this would ever be an option. The depreciation make Peugeot so expensive on PCP. Maybe I’ll buy a 1 year old version in a couple of years 😅
As attractive as they are the Peugeots/Citroens are hugely handicapped by the limited engine offer. These days we have better alternatives with mild hybrid or full hybrid engines which make more sense for the high mileage user who typically by this type of car.
Have this in Elixir red and 17 inch alloys. Smooth to drive and drop dead georgeous to look at. As for no dials for air con just say 'ok Peugeot turn air con to ....' and it does it for you. Who needs physical buttons?!
Yes - I live in Australia and the diesel engine (especially the 2.0L diesel) is a far better alternative. Unfortunately they were discontinued in 2022. In Australia the 2.0L diesel engine was placed in the 308 3008 (and 5008 I think). By far the best engine - Is Europe 6 compliant but not Euro 7.)
I really like Peugeot cars overall and looking to finally replace my 10 years old diesel 208 but when I look at the prices... Ridiculous. A bit of extra space and some extra stuff is just not worth the money sadly. And if you don't buy the hybrid the fuel costs are even higher that with good old diesel engine. I think they need a different strategy how to get buyers.
BMW: B I G nostrills and incapable of driving on cobblestone roads without crumpling like foil Peugeot: No matter how modern Our cars might look, you can easily make a rally tune with just spray paint and patterns. No turbo required
Relatively poor used prices - typically around £23/24000 for an Allure Premuim + 2023 and GT for £24/25000 2023! I was put off by lack of headroom in the back plus no window wiper on rear window !!
Plug in hybrids are a waste of time. It has perfectly good engine. If you want to add electric you have to plug it in. On a long journey, you're not going to bother. In general use why bother unless you have your own domestic power source and you would like to leave it overnight. Get a Honda Civic - a Hybrid that never needs charging and you get the mechanical/electric power all the time.
For the first time I have mixed feelings... I love the 508, the 308, the 3008. But the 408? It feels like they have gone too far in their design. Just looking at the face I am okay. But then come the proportions... and the rear :( I don't understand the massive bumper, it feels like they had some bumpers in stock and just glued them to the body. Maybe it looks different in reality. But I'm not a fan. I have always been a big fan of Peugeot, but here I am disappointed. I much prefer the Citroën C5X which has a lot more elegance. Sorry, Peugeot.
Why, why, why do reviewers always test the top of the range hybrid models, which will sell in much lower numbers than other models. The hybrid makes no sense at all if you do a lot of long journeys.
I would compare it with the newly launched Toyota Crown crossover in Japan and US. Like 408, Crown is hard to pin down if it's a sedan, estate/wagon or SUV.
It's not an SUV or an estate car. It's a hatchback! Surely it sits, in the Peugeot range, between the 308 and the 508. Oh, I just noticed it's called the 408. Funny that.
Unfortunately, around here, French brands Peugeot/Citroën and Renault have a very poor reputation. Skoda also, they only sell a few Skodas around here, after problems with corrosion during the last 20 years. Only VW, Audi, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and BMW are really considered by most people.
Whoever thought to implement that stupid driving wheel design on all new Peugeot models deserves to be fired. He deprived this great car company from thousands and thousands of sales. If you are tall, or heavy, do not sit slouched, or simply like to rest your hand on top of the driving wheel, this is not going to work for you. This inexcusable design mistake is a prime reason why so many new Peugeots are resold so quickly.
This is absolute nonsense. I purchased a 2022 3008 late last year. I went for test drives first because I had read about the i-cockpit concerns in reviews (especially the UK reviews)_ I am 6ft tall , my wife is 5ft2" and the salesman was about 5ft 6" - my grandson is 6ft 2". I took off all of the preset positions and asked each person (including myself) to find a comfortable driving position where they could see the instrument panel. No-one took more than a minute to find a good driving position. I asked the salesman what the problem was - his answer - THE DRIVER - and I agree with him. It sounds like you've never sat in an i-cockpit. There is forward /aft, up/down adjustment for the seat. The same with the steering wheel. The only problem I could forsee is maybe a 6ft 9" person driving a 3008 with a sunroof (restricts headroom???) BTW your hand should not be on top of the steering wheel. Your hand position should be somewhere between 10 to 2 and a quarter to 3.
