What a superb car ! That design is just... WOW.... Peugeot has levelled up big time. They are on a roll, can't stop making top cars... Peugeot is as good as German car makers.

@@Tobi-ln9xr You are entitled to your own opinion, mate. Being an auto engineer, with 27 years of work experience (VW Group and Renault), I think I'm qualified to tell you that Peugeot has really levelled up, and everybody knows it in the industry. When I check what they have done with that 408, with the 508, the 2008, the 3008, etc... sorry but I fail to see how they are inferior to VW. It's just that some people won't ever want to admit it, simply because it's French car maker. And they don't like the fact that the French can do top stuff.

You didn't say Volkswagen, you wrote "German car makers" which are mostly premium car makers like BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche etc.
The only "german" car brand which is in the price class of a Peugeot, is Opel.
And yes, french cars are by far inferior compared to other brands. Poor building quality, unreliable, rust issues and they are absolutely hideous (even though thats an subjective opinion)
But you would probably also compare a Toyota Corolla with a Bentley flying spur...

4:08 i'll never understand why all coupe-like cars nowadays are offering that much leg room if there is no head room. Put the rear bench a bit forward and at least you'd get a bigger boot (and even a little more head room).
I doubt that there is that many giant legged short torsoed creatures that would appreciate this current setting.

Peugeot does make some amazing looking cars these days They're definitely on the roll at the moment. And not just great looking cars . Reliable as well! I own 2 pugs. One of them is 15 years old 308 GT 2l HDI with 143k on clock and I had no issues whatsoever. Done Europe trip in it 4700 miles in 2 weeks no problem. Then I own 308 GTi BPS 270 for over 5 years now and same not a single issue! Not even burnt bulb 🙏 well Done Peugeot 👏👏👏

Great design, front and back. I think I prefer the rather funkier dash to the CX5 . I would consider the 408 over the CX5. But if I wanted and estate then the 508, just a beautiful sleek low estate car. 208 is my favourite small hatch for design too. Nice colour range for Peugeot range, different and bold.

I would consider the 408. The price point however is very high. We just brought an e2008 GT and love it. I drive a 330e M Sport and I’d need to have a test drive for a few days to see if this would ever be an option. The depreciation make Peugeot so expensive on PCP. Maybe I’ll buy a 1 year old version in a couple of years 😅

  • @masonandmotors

I have had my 208 since September and have really grown to like the driving position and dash layout. The small steering wheel feels very sporty. I do agree though that they made a mistake putting the temperature controls in the software and not as physical buttons. It is more distracting to use when on the move. That's the only thing I'd change. I think if people are comparing the 408 and the C5 there's not much between them apart from the styling. The 408 is much nicer looking.

    • @13Iyad
      @13Iyad 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm glad you're enjoying your 308.
For the 408 temp. control situation, the bottom screen or the "iToggle", you can add up to 6 shortcuts side by side, so, you can customize an exact temp. control settings and save it. You don't have an always-available temp. control. But you can simply press 1 button and your favorite temp. control setting will be activated. Let's be honest, how many times do we need to actually change the temp. control? We do change it, but not that much>

I really like Peugeot cars overall and looking to finally replace my 10 years old diesel 208 but when I look at the prices... Ridiculous. A bit of extra space and some extra stuff is just not worth the money sadly. And if you don't buy the hybrid the fuel costs are even higher that with good old diesel engine. I think they need a different strategy how to get buyers.

I don't understand the massive bumper, it feels like they had some bumpers in stock and just glued them to the body. Maybe it looks different in reality. But I'm not a fan. Whoever thought to implement that stupid driving wheel design on all new Peugeot models deserves to be fired. He deprived this great car company from thousands and thousands of sales.
If you are tall, or heavy, do not sit slouched, or simply like to rest your hand on top of the driving wheel, this is not going to work for you.
This inexcusable design mistake is a prime reason why so many new Peugeots are resold so quickly.

    • @allanbriggs9007

This is absolute nonsense. I purchased a 2022 3008 late last year. I went for test drives first because I had read about the i-cockpit concerns in reviews (especially the UK reviews)_ I am 6ft tall , my wife is 5ft2" and the salesman was about 5ft 6" - my grandson is 6ft 2". I took off all of the preset positions and asked each person (including myself) to find a comfortable driving position where they could see the instrument panel. No-one took more than a minute to find a good driving position. I asked the salesman what the problem was - his answer - THE DRIVER - and I agree with him. It sounds like you've never sat in an i-cockpit. There is forward /aft, up/down adjustment for the seat. The same with the steering wheel. The only problem I could forsee is maybe a 6ft 9" person driving a 3008 with a sunroof (restricts headroom???)
BTW your hand should not be on top of the steering wheel. Your hand position should be somewhere between 10 to 2 and a quarter to 3.

Why not to put Fiat Twin air turbo 0.9 liter motor inside 😄😄.
Man, 2.0 liters engine seem like a muscle car compared to this.
    My 2.5 Tdi is laughing.

As the driver, I will spend most of my time behind the steering wheel.
Consequently, the Peugeot's iCockpit wins my vote.
I much prefer my older C5s (cars) over the new C5X (pretend SUV) so I will be changing to the Peugeot branded vehicles next car.
Citroen have lost most of their individual charms.

The car is so nice, however it is just a bit expensive, in China where those cars are made, it is just starting from 20k Euro, that is a pity

How the mighty have fallen. Peugeot used to produce low-slung, wedge-shaped saloons, with great handling.

Don’t know why these testers keep moaning about the touch screens for heat controls and other functions. That’s what the voice activation is for surely. Temperature Increase, temperature decrease, radio station LBC etc….
