Stile Cop Cannock Chase Part 2: All Dark Side DH Runs - Downhill Day - 12 Aug 19

And here's the trails times first, if you want to bypass the waffle and skip to one in particular!:
Ridge Run: 0:53
Little Bringe: 2:09
Wonderland: 3:31
New Line: 4:57
Balboa: 6:18
Basically I visited Stile Cop in Cannock Chase for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The main trails were open, but the Dark Side MTB DH trails were shut for some reason from the weekend, so I couldn't ride them all on that occasion.
But actually, it was a good job really. The first trails I rode were OK in the wet, and it had been raining all weekend, so there were a lot of puddles and the shrubbery was wet, but the trails were very ride-able.
I think I would have REALLY struggled with the Dark Side trails in the same conditions. Whereas today was lovely. Sun was out as before, but the trails (and therefore the roots and rocks) were pretty dry.
The Dark Side, as it;s name suggests, was definitely more challenging. I concluded that I probably shouldn't have attempted the Balboa drop, especially as it was a Monday, it was quite and I was on my own.. But have added my thoughts about that at the end of the edit .

Fair play to you man, that drop on Bilboa is knarly man, a friend and I rose there a few weeks back and we gave that drop a miss, well done on the save, big respect 😁👊🏾, stay safe!!

Yep, if I lived closer I'd probably live on those trails🤣🤘. Stile Cop is brilliant and probably my favourite push up venue that I've ridden.
That's a fair old gap though well dune for just making it!!🤙 I think I would just do the first part as a drop off if that's possible 🤔 should be there in a few weeks so will have a look!

Cheers bud! TBH - that's where the Big Rig comes in very handy. 200mm travel front and back sure helps get me out of sticky situations 🤓🤘😎
Although not ideal, can these trails be hit on a hardtail do you think?
Yeah, I've given some of them a bash on my HT. More of a challenge of course but still great fun🤘
Nice one for the drop post-mortem, very useful for riding that trail blind. Drop looks more doable if you go off it slowly and hit that first downslope perhaps?
Cheers bud - that drop is there to be sent! A bit more speed and better technique needed. I s'pose it may be also be ridable and a different type of challenge the way you describe.. I'd watch that 😁! 👊
