@@user-tb5sq6jm2y actually where I live there would probably be more than most places. But I get most info and perspective of the world from the Internet which honestly I am reminded a lot that the Internet landscape is not the same as real life. Finding a conservative anywhere on the Internet is incredibly hard, probably due to 1. They just use the Internet less in general, and 2. Censorship. But when you use the Internet a lot you begin to think it resembles real society and it makes me think there are less conservatives than there really are I guess, which makes me hopeful that there are more than it looks like from an online perspective

"there is a reason Ivy League Universitys are started by protestants not Catholics"
Yeah the reason was that Catholicism was persecuted in the US
The only reason why you are a calvinist is because you grew up in the tradition, your knowledge of history remains shallow on purpose so you can make false accusations about the one true church and look past the fact Calvin was a blood thirsty tirant and Luther a sexual degenerate.
Also if you were well read in to reformation history you would see how much protestant teaching has moved away from what Luther, Calvin and other reformers believed.
I respect you alot Zoomer, I would advice you to be more objective in choosing your denomination because (assurance of) salvation depends on it.

Catholic social teaching is actually amazing though. I especially really subscribe to distributism, I was a distributist long before being christian. As an Anglican, it exemplifies what the modern christian society should look like and how it should be organized, and more people need to recognize it.

I respect a lot of Catholic teachings and explanations, def helped me grow in my faith tremendously! I do have separate issues with the entity of the church tho, and their justifications for it seemed flimsy to me. If anything, I think I may convert to Eastern Orthodox. I'm not positive on that but I am learning about it and much of their teachings make more sense to me. I was raised Presbyterian but I don't have as much hope of saving that denom as RZ does... I love the liturgy and familiarity of it but it's no secret that it is dying.

As a protestant I think the biggest weakness of Protestantism is our history is one of if you don't like the Church split off from it. Luther, Calvin, Henry the VIII all split from the Catholic Church, then new denominations split from them, and then sub-denominations split from those. Now we have 5 or so sub-denominations for every denomination. Every split has hurt both the old church and the new one. Leaving it all weaker over time.
That is one thing Catholicism did do right, when everyone started splitting off from them they worked to fix the issues, and it kept Catholics from splitting off more, where protestants just keep splitting off anytime they don't like something, in some endless cycle.

Just to add something to what you have said, the Puritans believed charity begins at home. William Perkins 1558-1602 wrote a book " A Treatise of the Vocations," about the importance of getting in a position to help others, starting with your own family and your actual neighbors. And, other Protestant ministers wrote about putting yourself in a position where you can help others, but make sure you are not a burden on the community. And, there are different ways of helping people, like providing jobs and education opportunities. America started the first public education system in the world and it was in order to help people improve their lives, and the education used to be great. And there still are many types of volunteer associations doing good works besides the soup kitchen.

@@waitforitonesecond737 So happy for your reply. Before the Industrial Revolution, people in Europe had no leisure time. It took forever for a shoe to be made or a dress, or to grow food at a subsistence level. People worked 16 hours a day. There was child labor. There was no leisure time to do volunteer work to help the poor, unless you were part of the nobility. The Catholic answer to this was to beg (mendicant monks), and then do charity work or whatever with the money they raised. The Protestant answer was get a job and help your community by working. Every community needs many people to do all sorts of labor, and with your job, as long as it was moral and legal, helped the community. Feeding your own family helped the community. Not begging helped your community. Not being a burden on others helped your community. And, being a good Christian helped your community.

There are certainly some who have the mentality that he describes, but it doesn't mean evangelicals don't do anything at all. The ACNA church I'm at currently donates money and works with a few organizations in the city. Also, there is a non-denomination church in the city I'm by that does tutoring, classes, and has resources for poor people in the city. Also, every Friday they go out into several places throughout the city to give food and clothing to homeless people, while also spreading the gospel (which you can spread the love of Jesus without always having to say the gospel too).

I am not a history nerd, but I am a book nerd. I often times have the same feelings you describe except toward fantasy worlds. "Wouldn't it be great if I was some hero in a medieval world?" I think to myself. Many times it would get to the point where I would feel depressed just longing for a different life. After years of having these thought, pondering them, exploring scripture, and talking with others I realized a few important things.
      1. The fact humans have these feelings reveals something very important. We are not satisfied with our current condition. We have an understanding that we are made for something greater. As Christians we know we are meant to be creatures that bring glory to God, and we yearn to be in his presence.
C.S. Lewis said "“If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.”
      2. Understand that you would still have a longing for a different life, even if you could live out your perfect fantasy. Maybe you would fit better in a historical setting. However, you would not find meaning in it. Eventually it would become dull and unfulfilling, as all things are apart from Christ.
      3. God can use your wants and desires for good. You say you feel your life is wasting away. Then pursue something greater.
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Become one of your heroes. Be a warrior of Christ. Spread his Gospel. Allow the Holy Spirit to use you for great things. (I know this is much easier said than done. I am still struggling with laziness and apathy.)
I pray that the Lord will reveal his will to you, and that he will grant you strength to pursue it. You are not alone in your struggles.
God Bless and have a great day!

I'm sorry bro, I have to disagree with certain things you said by the end, especially as you didn't try to back them up well. Saying Protestantism is the best because it's been hijacked the most is quite a stretch based on some questionable logic and in some way almost going against Biblical teachings (that the Holy Spirit will guide the Church and that you will know them by their fruits). To add to it, there were no arguments presented for saying Protestantism built the strongest societies, has spread Gospel the most, built best universities etc. I'm not sure where that is so clearly coming from, I think we can easily make the same case for Catholicism with well backed up arguments (probably better to be honest). Maybe I can see it in a very American centric point of view, but I know we can all agree that limiting spreading God's Kingdom on Earth to the boundaries of only your own country isn't a very Christian doctrine. To end, love your content, you have helped me a lot and I think you are doing incredible work.

The claim that Protestants had the most missionaries is ludicrous historically. He looks at the USA and thinks the whole world is the same. The US is an exception. If you only look at American universities, sure there are many Protestant ones because the US was colonized by a Protestant country. But despite that, there are countless Catholic schools and universities. In the rest of the world, the Catholic Church provides the most education of any institution. It is also the largest charity in the world by far. It has been attacked, hence the existence of Protestantism, yet it still stands because Christ said it would prevail.

The session deals with spiritual and worship matters, like the structure and contents of a worship service, and what ministries the church engages in, while the board deals with administrative and financial matters. Question for you: I understand that your focus is restoring consistent and conservative theology to the mainline churches, and you made a good point about how it seems that Evangelicalism has mostly withdrawn from the world, but would it hypothetically be easier to push evangelical churches towards interacting with the world in a meaningful way than it would be to deliberalize the mainline churches?

Evangelicals are the creators and practically the only ones actually teaching and practicing Kingdom Theology. In fact, the more controversial the Evangelical figure, the more they espouse it, such as Bethel's Bill Johnson, or R.T. Kendall, Lance Walnau, Dr. Michael Browne, etc.. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, *how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures* ; *And that he was buried* , *and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures* ," (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
At 2:50, you critiqued the evangelicals for preaching the gospel the way the Bible defines it. There is no other gospel (Galatians 1:6-9); the message that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day is what the gospel is. It has to do with the salvation of souls, not with the betterment of the world (although that may come as a byproduct of there being more Christians).

True, but the proclamation of the arrival of the Kingdom of God has always been accompanied by miracles and doing good to others. The apostles did the same when they proclaimed the gospel. Therefore, I think it is super valid that the Church has as one of its focuses the anticipation of the Kingdom, through its influence in our world.
It seems to me that this is what the Early Church did that eventually led to the conversion of the entire Roman Empire.

I am Particular Baptist/"Reformed Baptist" and the crowd I hang out with certainly doesn't hold that view. Heaven is an intermediate state and the New Heavens and New Earth is the final state following Jesus' return and the Judgment. @@bradyhayes7911 I totaly disagree that all church fathers view that way. That's a claim that you will need to prove. Just to make an example, For example, Augustine of Hippo in the 4th and 5th centuries made distinctions between justification (being made right with God) and sanctification (the process of becoming more like Christ). Another Church Father who made distinctions between justification and sanctification is Ambrose of Milan (c. 340-397 AD). In his work "On the Mysteries", Ambrose discusses the sacraments of baptism and the Eucharist. In Book 7, Chapter 3, he addresses the difference between justification (or cleansing) and sanctification (or perfection). He explains how baptism cleanses the soul from sins (justification), while the Eucharist nourishes and strengthens the soul in holiness (sanctification). Ambrose's writings demonstrate a clear understanding of the distinction between these two aspects of Christian salvation.

@@redeemedzoomer6053 I would love a KingdomCraft video about that. Another suggestion that i believe would have a lot of synergy with your next Mastering Reformed Theology Video is one explaining the different frameworks each tradition uses for interpreting the Bible. You did a post about it some months ago that was very good.
