As a lifelong Habs fan, 1971 remains their greatest victory. I was at the Forum the night the Big M scored his 500th, and after that game my dad said he thought they had a chance that year. I thought he was nuts, Boston was so dominant! But the addition of Dryden made the difference. I'll never forget that team.
completely agree : what a magical run that was in 1971 , totally unexpected Cup win, which made it all that more wonderful, not often the Canadiens were underdogs in those years
I was at the game where they honoured Beliveau before the start. I remember that big facsimile cheque for his charitable fund! Lots of memories in this video!
Any other year and Big M would have won the Conn Smythe. I mean, you had to give it to Dryden that year; rookie, played 6 games at the end of the season, walks in and wins it all. But there was a good argument for Frank. We would never have won without him!
Well, you got us back by drafting native sons Ray Bourque and Patrice Bergeron and winning the cup with Claude Julien! Loved those guys. Remember, the Habs got first dibs on all Quebec players until the 70's. It was unfair.

@@soulscanner66the Habs had the 2 first Quebec born picks for only two years in 68’ and 69’ and in 68’ they selected Michel Plasse a Goalie with an ok career and Roger Bélisle can you tell me who he was ? In 69’ they selected Marc Tardif and Réjean Houle both had pretty descent careers both not a big difference in the Habs already packed team. Tardif only played a few seasons and then joined the newly formed WHA league .Houle was a third line player with descent career at best. So please enough of that urban legend story that the Canadiens were packed because they had all the best Quebec players. The draft started in 1963 and Mtl had the first pick and selected Gerry Monahan later trade for Peter Mahovlich who got drafted second in the same draft. All the best to you.

@@robertpucci9585 A lot like '86 ... hot rookie goalie ... no one expeted it.
J ai été témoin de leurs prouesses ont les appelaient à l époque les Glorieux 🏆👍
Seeing the footage of Jean Beliveau got me teared up! I know what he meant to Habs fans for all of his contributions on and off the ice. May he RIP

Wow! Quel bijou, cette vidéo, merci! What a gem, thank you!
Best hockey and best team of all time!!!
The studio shot with Rene Lecavalier against that screaming background looks like something out of Monty Python. sacrebleu!
I remember kitchen wallpaper like that at some of my friend's houses. Gotta love the 70's!
My sister let me stay up to watch the final , I was 9 ... Habs fan ever since . I was a little kid with a funny last name ....
Thanks to the Big M with 14 goals and 13 assists during those playoffs!

Great video! I finally got to see the last goal by Bucyk in game 7. I remember it was a backhand shot and I was right!
