What i love about Taemin, and I learned this from watching SHINee live, is that they don't use the background vocals. You can hear him breathing into the mic as he sings, as he talks, everything. I know they are a great helpme tool, but that just shows his true artistry even more.

The fact that he does his own adlibs as well makes that necessary as he cant sing two different parts at one time. However, that doesn't mean he isn't singing, because he is. You can hear him actively singing. Over whatever he prerecorded. That is what is impressive. As a dancer singing over a choreography is already incredibly difficult, which is why Idols are on another level, but to maintain any degree of stabity or breath control after this type of choreography is difficult, vastly so. The fact he can even sing at all over anything is astounding.
