The LEGO Ideas Lighthouse does not use a light brick; it uses a Powered Up battery box, a Powered Up motor, and a pair of Powered Up headlights--one of which goes up the tower, and the other goes into the keeper's house stove.
I was wondering about that. That light was WAY too bright to be a light brick. It was also clearly white light, when light bricks only come in red and yellow. That being said, I really hope LEGO releases more colors of light brick in the future. It'd really add some more versatility to the piece.
Spitbrix: talks about how electronic toys were taking over the market. Also Spitbrix: shows the Transformers aisle where the only electronic toy visible is Shockwave. 😂
It would be cool to see light bricks in more original sets rather than mainly licensed or creator sets, also more colours other than just red and yellow. Light up minifigures would be cool too. For example a Hatsune Miku set featuring a translucent minifig of Miku and a white light brick on the stage floor.
The Batmobile set had 2 light bricks in it, one red and one yellow. I liked the Exo Force light bricks, in one of the sets it had the light go through into the robot’s head.
The Lego DeLorean from 2022 was the first kit when I started to get back into Lego, and I was pleased to find a light brick used to illuminate the flux capacitor. Far from the most revolutionary use, but the really are popping up all over the place now.
So, the thumbnail is a concept image. Kind of deceptive, but the overall content and history of those were worth watching. So, I'm kinda biased to say thanks for the content, maybe the Algorithm will recommend your channel again to me. 🙂
I remember when the yellow/orange 2x3 light brick came out, it was a luxury and a must-have. I was unfortunate and never had a set with a light brick. :(
Yes, and 42176 Porsche GT4 does not use 4 light bricks; the Powered Up Hub includes LEDs and it uses flexible clear [fiber optic] cable to route the lighting.
I’ve got an idea for how they could work one into a Star Wars set. Build a table with a light brick in the middle, pointed upwards. Stick a micro figure molded in transparent blue over the light, and you’ve got one of those holographic communication devices from the prequels. It could be used on the bridge of a big ship or in some sort of command center.
I believe the 2017 Minecraft Mountain cave deserves a shoutout, first for being the only set from this theme to include a light brick, but also because the light brick was part of a movable assembly that could be “plugged” in multiple locations in the build in clever spaces
OMG NOSTALGIA at seeing those first two Light & Sound sets!!! 😭 Edit: OMG YESSSS the Space sets, too!!! 😭😭 That's it.... my life goal is now to invent a time machine to go back to this era!!!
i still have that grey and red battery box in my Lego Technic suitcase, for Lego motors that can go both ways. didn't know they were also used for lights
2:15 he had to include my other favorite passion of toy transformers and no other then three of my holy grails gen 1 optimus prime and gen 1 shockwave and gen 1 megatron
I really do admire your effort for this video. Nevertheless I like to pimp my Lego sets with lighting by Briksmax and Lightailing. And for a few years now the company behind those two, sadly called "FunWhole", has its own sets with integrated lighting... absolutly mind boggling. So now Lego light bricks feel a little outdated.
The lit flux capacitor in the very impressive DeLorean time machine is a nice gimmick but i'm seriously afraid of the day the battery will dies. Because the light brick is well hidden in the middle of the build ^^' I also have amongst other things the very early police van with sound in my childhood Lego collection, stored somewhere for more than 30 years, ... with sadly probably the batterie still inside...
31038 Creator 3-in-1 Changing Seasons has a red light brick. The 3 builds are houses representing summer, autumn, and winter, and the light brick is for a grill (summer), pile of leaves (autumn), and fireplace (winter).
I own a City police station that uses a light brick to use as a spotlight and man did that make for some fun times when me and my sister would stay up late to just play with it and get to use the spotlight in the dark, it was very common in sets but still very fun
Not just the shuttle, but also in 6979 Interstellar Starfighter, 8456 Fiber Optic Multi Set and 9732 Extreme Creatures. I think I had all except the Mindstorms one back in the day - Space Shuttle was for Christmas. But I only remember 2 sets of light sources, so I might be mistaken.
All of this about Legos is very fascinating. Thank you. I love Legos. The price of them not so much and the fact that kids don't like to keep them built. My hulk robot is missing a finger and it bugs the 🤬 out of me.
I was hoping to see the 2x2 duplo light brick from the frozen elsa castle set... that gets pretty close to the rgb stuff you mentioned at the end of the video..
I have an old light brick which was the entire back part of a rocket meant to light up the 3 red bell-nozzles on the back of the rocket. it also plays sounds and takes, 2 AA batteries too. you forgot to mention that one
10:39 Saron did appear in the Lego Batman movie and a few brief scenes so I’m pretty sure this cool Lego set would make for a really great Lego Batman movie scene recreation add on
The battery box shown at 1:14 (which I never saw before) has not been the first part of this kind by Lego. The first battery box is actually displayed in your video at the top left picture at 0:55. It contained three baby cells providing 4,5 V. I have grown up in the 1970s with this box and the light bricks, I remember even the brochure in your video, but I had as well two of the light bricks as they had been developed in 1958. To swap worn batteries you had to loosen a screw, its lever could turn power on forward and reverse because there had been already a Lego motor for 4,5 V. This previous battery box is very similar to the one at 1:35 in your video, even the blue colour matches, while I got a black version as a child. But its recepticles had been close together and not a centimeter apart like the one in your video as Lego made matching plugs with two contacts.
There is a Lego building that has a light brick in it and it is The Lego Fairground Collection Haunted House which came out in 2020 and another Lego set to have a light brick in it was The Lego Home Alone Set.
No mention of The Mountain Cave? That set lets you place it in various locations, like flowing lava, a torch, redstone ore, and the cave spider spawner
in the Porsche 42176 it doesnt actually use any "light bricks". this set comes with a new "technic hub" that has lights on it. it uses channeled fiber optics to channel the light from the hub to the lit areas. the hub is pretty interesting including 2 mototrs within it and these light ports, but it's considered a pretty big downgrade as they have no ports for technic powered up accessories making uses pretty limited
Forgot to mention the T rex from Dino Attack got glowing eyes when pressing their heads. sadly I hears the batteries are not replaceable without damaging the head.
Lego could do so much more ... Just look at some Funwhole Sets and what they are doing with light! It's a shame that Lego still uses this bulky lightbrick.
Wish you mentioned Exo-Force since light bricks were important to some sets and they were still using different designs back then.
Those were cool, the light up tubes that went with them were almost a salute to the older version in the technic sets.
The motorized hub from the Technic Porsche remote-control car heavily reminded me of the Exo Force sets
Agreed.
The Sentai Fortress set was my first exposure to light bricks
Came to say that. The 2x3 light brick is an evolution of the exo-force power cores.
The LEGO Ideas Lighthouse does not use a light brick; it uses a Powered Up battery box, a Powered Up motor, and a pair of Powered Up headlights--one of which goes up the tower, and the other goes into the keeper's house stove.

I wish tho🤣

You forgot to mention the Inika swords, which do have easily removable batteries.
So, the thumbnail is a concept image.
Kind of deceptive, but the overall content and history of those were worth watching. So, I'm kinda biased to say thanks for the content, maybe the Algorithm will recommend your channel again to me. 🙂
And now, thanks to Funwhole, Lego is hopelessly behind the times where brick lighting is concerned.
I remember when the yellow/orange 2x3 light brick came out, it was a luxury and a must-have. I was unfortunate and never had a set with a light brick. :(
GREAT SPITBRIX LEGO LIGHT BRICKS EVOLUTIONS.

21335 Motorized Lighthouse has PoweredUP LED not a light brick.
Yes, and 42176 Porsche GT4 does not use 4 light bricks;

bro that's too early into the video 😭🙏
Glad he didn't
@@owenpeck4857 True
Don't skip the 12v era😭
The Porsche has just one hub with multiple LEDs and motors, not multiple light bricks.
I also like it in this year's Christmas set; it's used as the burner in the hot air balloon.
The first light brick I ever got was in the Monster Fighters Crazy Scientist lab. Such a wonderful memory discovering the laser would actually glow.
I’ve got an idea for how they could work one into a Star Wars set.

Could have sworn that they did this but I could me misremembering. I know they had light up lightsabers with specialized minifigures though
I believe the 2017 Minecraft Mountain cave deserves a shoutout, first for being the only set from this theme to include a light brick, but also because the light brick was part of a movable assembly that could be “plugged” in multiple locations in the build in clever spaces
I had one light brick in the chast of Iron Man mini figurine (76206) making his arc reactor glowing.
OMG NOSTALGIA at seeing those first two Light & Sound sets!!! 😭
Edit: OMG YESSSS the Space sets, too!!! 😭😭 That's it.... my life goal is now to invent a time machine to go back to this era!!!
Cannot wait to see what we get a light brick in next ^^
The Indiana Jones diorama is pretty cool. I bought it this month before it is retired.
i still have that grey and red battery box in my Lego Technic suitcase, for Lego motors that can go both ways. didn't know they were also used for lights
I had the lego agents comand center set as a child. It was so cool! I then took out the lightbrick and used it in basically any build I made.
How about the Power Functions light element? It's a great piece!
5:08 “you really think I would drive anything without at least three complex transformations!”
I have the haunted house and the lights are super cool in it
Have loved this! 👍 👍 ❤
2:15 he had to include my other favorite passion of toy transformers and no other then three of my holy grails gen 1 optimus prime and gen 1 shockwave and gen 1 megatron
still need to get a G1 Shockwave for the Shockwave shrine
my man casually forgetting exo-force seeing the first wave most of the sets had a light brick
Light bricks taste pretty good. bit sharp though
Lol 😂
You're not funny.

The LEGO Minecraft Mountain Cave set featured a light brick that could be placed in several different spots to give many things a glow.
I know that motors are off topic, but surely the fiberoptic feature from the 8480 space shuttle counts?
Not just the shuttle, but also in 6979 Interstellar Starfighter, 8456 Fiber Optic Multi Set and 9732 Extreme Creatures. I think I had all except the Mindstorms one back in the day - Space Shuttle was for Christmas. But I only remember 2 sets of light sources, so I might be mistaken.

I would just use a clear brick and buy rbg light and insert it into the brick
LEGO Countdown Corner set 6454 from 1999 came with a built-in light and sound brick at the base of the rocket
How do you know all of this? Are you secretly the lego owner?
A lot of research goes into each of my videos
@@SpitBrix you forgot about the Exo Force
Lego love bricks
The Mountain Cave has a light brick and has multiple ways it lights things up
Great video!
I hope someday you will take time to do a video about the fiber optic lights, they were cool :)
I was hoping to see the 2x2 duplo light brick from the frozen elsa castle set... that gets pretty close to the rgb stuff you mentioned at the end of the video..
The 9v light bar wound flash alternating and if you flipped the bar (reversed the voltage) it would keep both lit.
You forgot the glow in the dark lightsabers
They were definitely light bricks as only their sabres lit up
@terryring2478 still, glow in the dark lightsabers...you can't beat that
There is a Duplo light brick that shifts between different colors using multiple LEDs inside.
I like the Home Alone house set (21330) and the Red London telephone box set (21347) use of lights.

The Lego Ideas motorized lighthouse does not use a light brick. It uses two led lights on an battery hub.
Man, I miss lego Agents
The Indiana Jones temple diorama has a cool light brick use, it's the biggest set I own with a light brick in it
I love all the overwatch sets! I surprised you didn't mention the vast amount of 3rd party light kits for all sorts of non light brick sets

For a little while they were making Jedi with lightsabers that lit up when you pressed the head
What no 12v

Yo can you do some more of the Lego Ninjago and marvel mystery bag I love watching them be great to see them come back again
Whoa! I had the Police set. I have found it at my parents house a couple of years ago, but it was corroded and stained to the oblivion...
Are light bricks light enough to float?
I found an error in the Lego bricklink mushroom house, step 79 tells you, you only need 2 vine pieces while the image place 3 :)
