Newcastle are trying to follow FFP rules, so have been more careful with their spending unlike Chelsea.
But they haven't actually made any huge signings and they are now (fairly comfortably) in the top four. The threat of losing your place is gonna help to make you play better surely?

I've always been of the opinion that Mourinho signed Rahman as a 'F**k You' to the Chelsea board, because they wouldn't sign the players he wanted.
Until last season Chelseas Danny Drinkwater was on 120k a week and on loan with us....and 9 times out of 10....useless.
£300000 is only $360000 which is only about 19mil a year for one of the highest paid in his postion that's not a crazy amount compared to other sports like basketball, clubs should really do more trades and less transfer fees mean the players can get more
Now I don't know much about American sports so I had to look this up, but from what I saw 19 mill was on the high end for sports like basketball and the NFL.
Also, the players already get paid too much. A salary cap would probably be good for the sport
@@epicmarschmallow5049 there's about 70 players who earn more than 19mil, 40 of which earn more than 30mil in a league of only 450 players that's a large portion of players earning alot. With the highest paided in there positions getting 40 plus. All I'm saying is Football doesn't get paided that much considering how popular the sport is
