PSG isn’t that much better than Newcastle not because of their stars doing less than stars of the past, but because PSG is a horribly flawed, unbalanced team. A team of platini, zico and bernd schuster would have also struggled defensively, struggled without the ball, struggled with their depth, struggled to press, struggled against physical teams and struggled when one of their stars was out or needed a rest.
Are Newcastle successful because all the player want to keep their place when the funds are unlimited? Video idea?
Newcastle are trying to follow FFP rules, so have been more careful with their spending unlike Chelsea.
But they haven't actually made any huge signings and they are now (fairly comfortably) in the top four. The threat of losing your place is gonna help to make you play better surely?
