  • Wild boars were destroying a widow lady's property and tearing up the grass. Trapped 10 wild hogs on the widow lady's property were euthanized. The wild hogs were caught in the Game Changer Trap Jr pig trap. The best and most affordable hog trap is Game Changer Traps ST 2X4 pig trap. It has 2 drop gate control by the Vision Cam app from a cell phone. The Pocket Drag are a plus when dealing with wild hogs and dragging them.

    So much misunderstanding of this content. It's not hunting; it's pest control. These animals are incredibly destructive, and are dangerous to boot. Plus they multiply like crazy. This is a necessity.

    Also, I would scatter the lure over on the far edge of the fence rather than the middle of the trap. My reasoning is this will give you the best odds to luring the pigs in to the farthest point of the gate. If they are in the middle, I think there is a better chance for some to escapes since they are closer to the gate entrance. If its all the way in the opposite side of the trap, I think this will buy you some potential split seconds as the gates are falling.

    • @hollyridgehomestead
      @hollyridgehomestead  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I actual do that on most of them. Because we had already dropped on them once and messed them being comfortable, it took a long time for them to even get that far into the trap on the second chance.

    Pig Brig® traps are simpler, safer, more reliable, and less expensive. They don't need remote monitoring or triggering. A Pig Brig® is a passive trap that lets pigs enter any place all of the way around it, and then won't let them leave. You can trap a sixty pig sounder without any of them knowing they're trapped until you show up the next morning. And when you fold it up, it will fit on the back of an ATV.

      She is stone cold killer man. I am impressed. Killed a lot hogs when I was a kid. We always used a Ruger 10/22. They were locked up in a kill lane on the farm. Had a boar once take a full 10 round mag to the head. Did not kill him or even hurt him much. My dad shot him with a 12 gauge slug. That put him down. Toughest damn hog I ever saw. Hog day was always fun on the farm. We would kill and process 5 or 6 big ones. Grind up the sausage and salt and hand the ham. Fresh pork for a week. We did the cattle the next weekend every year.

    • @hollyridgehomestead
      @hollyridgehomestead  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      No problem where your from. You still should ask when you don’t know.
      So the wild feral pigs around here do not get fat enough to provide if any bacon when processed. Now the temperatures down here are in the 100’s and the meat will spoil extremely fast. During the cooler times of the year you have time to process the animals for food. Which we give a lot away to families for that purpose.
      So to get rid the animals you basically are left with 2 options. Leave them in the woods or bury them.
      Thank you for watching and hope I answered your questions.

    I have the same trap with old cam and have had this happen before. Not fun trying to convince them to come back in after they’ve been scared off like that. Older pigs usually don’t come back in but the younger ones will. 9/10 the reason one of my doors didn’t drop is from the latch. I started putting a wrap around the top of the latch to make an umbrella to keep the rain from getting down in it. I almost never leave the trap on the trailer out in the weather either without putting a tarp or something over it to shield the rain from getting down in the latch that way as well. And as you noted in the video always do a test drop before. Less heartache to find out an issue then than when pigs are in it. Good video and glad you caught em!

      @hollyridgehomestead  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I hope to build some sort of shop soon for my equipment to keep things out of the weather. Most of the time the traps are out working. But we do have some down time when they are moving because of the abundance of food.

      @@markspc1 I’m not impressed with the Pig Brig and I have seen to many pigs get out of them. Way to much labor to set it up and will not last like steel. They have there place, but it’s not for what I do helping landowners remove whole sounders.

    • @johnmead8437
      @johnmead8437 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting. How do they escape the pig brig?
      If corrosion is the problem, there must be anti-corrosion products to help solve that. If testing gates etc a step ladder type prop the correct height will enable testing the gate trigger without a full executioner type drop, which might be convenient. A block & tackle pulley arrangement would also be possible for ease of raising the gate if an issue. @@hollyridgehomestead
