  • This is part 3 of the series I'm calling the "Stacked on the Left" locker because everything was stacked on the left side.
    I paid $800 for this huge 10x30 and it had mystery and inventory to discover. This day we uncovered a beautiful 1940s wood trunk, which turned out to be a time capsule full of all sorts of keepsakes and memories.
    What were they? What was the value? You'll have to stay tuned and find out. Come along with us for another storage locker adventure, and get a taste of what makes us Locker Nuts.
    Subscribe and turn on "notifications" to be the first to learn when we have new content, including the upcoming part 4 in this series.

    When my Mom and Dad moved into a nursing home, they had an almost identical Cedar or Hope Chest - polished it up we sold it as per their instructions, and easily raised $250 for the estate.

    My grandma gave me stuff I sent her when I was a kid shortly before she passed and now that she's gone it means the world to me. I get it out and it brings back the best memories and then even more memories as I recall the things we did or talked about..... It may not mean much now but it may mean more than you think later. When she passed, her stuff was rushed away and nobody got any memories. I was lucky; she gave me what she wanted me to have before leaving Earth and I was able to share with those that got nothing in the rush to remove her possessions.

    Just an FYI: please make sure you keep the Cedar Hope Chest locked at all times when you are not in it if the lock hasn't been replaced with a newer version. Most of the old cedar chests (many made by Lane Company) were death traps for little kids because they could not be opened from inside once closed, leading to suffocation. Lane is still in business and they send replacement locks for any of their cedar chests if you contact them. I don't know if yours was made by Lane or not but better safe than sorry, keep it locked always to keep kids out.

    • @michellemack6640
      @michellemack6640 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@janna5157 Yes, I believe the death toll for Lane cedar chests is at 18 and still rising even though they have been on the recall lists for years because people still don't know they should remove the locks and get them replaced. The original recall was started in 1996 and it was announced again in 2000 but these tragedies keep happening because so many of the chests (over 8 million) were sold. Not all cedar chest latch automatically but they should all be checked. I'll get off my soapbox now. :-)

    Someone said I priced my stuff too cheap when I sell it fast. I just say: But I sell it. And I get some profit, that's the idea. If I overprice it and get stuck with it, what's the point? Lower pricing means quicker sells, happy customers, everyone wins! Glad to see a professional such as you thinks the same.

    The honey I think is made from bees who feed or collect pollen from a black berry blossom.... I think the color would be very dark if black berries were added. My husband used to work with apiaries and said the same thing. Might be just fine as honey doesn’t spoil, may “sugar” but just warm in hot water bath and it will unsolidify the sugaring.

    The tables may have done better on Facebook market place. Great video. I had a cedar chest like that when I was young and loved it but after my father passed away, mom let my sister take whatever she wanted from the house since she knew she wasn't going to end up staying in a 13 room house for more than a couple of years by herself. It was sad that my brother and I weren't given the same opportunity to pick a few things for ourselves since our dad was a big antique collector.

    Another entertaining video. I won't argue with your wife, but at my mom's estate sale, people buy up fabric to make things like pillows and stuff. My mom was a seamstress back in the day (went to Laney Trade in Oakland). Probably better when you have a box of it at a sale rather than a few scraps. But people do make quilts and I know a lady at my work who works in a group to make them for senior groups. Will try to make it out to the Garage sale this weekend in Livermore. If I do, you all eat donuts or bagels? Let me know ahead of time.

    Kids stuff like arts and crafts photograph it then give them it on a usb. Or save in the cloud so you always have a copy.
