City in the Sky - concept architecture

    "City in the sky" is a concept about an imaginary tranquil oasis above the mega developed and polluted city where one can escape from the everyday noise and stress. The concept is inspired by the Lotus flower which is known for its ability to emerge above the murky waters pure and clean.
    Although it is realistically presented, the concept doesn't intend to be realistic in terms of structure-engineering or real living environment.

      Indeed. We have infinite potential, but we still bicker amongst ourselves. When will we terraform explainers and build hair like like this on them?

      We are already living much longer than in the past due to better health due to clean water and a clean environment due to environmental regulations which are in danger now to be replaced with deregulation for maximum profits!

      The US does not have a bright future, that is unless you are a fascist or a capitalist that are able to more and more get way with anything!
      Deregulation and PAC's and Super PAC's have resulted in the Trump administration that is bringing this country ever closer to fascism!
      This has been engineered and has been in the works since before the Reagan administration that started the American decline in morality and mentality, as evidence by the trump adminitsration, and it is and will continue to get worse and worse!

    Amazing concept, beautiful, structurally very strong and overall amazing... BUT... I'd feel very sorry for the people living in a large amount of buildings around the structures, they would lose out on much direct sunlight and overall lighting. Perhaps suggest putting these structures at popular seaside destinations, out on the water. ...an elegant road/bridge to link the shore to the raised platform.
    Also, be careful with concaved reflective glass... it can have damaging effects (see the mirror building in london)... melting cars etc!
    Otherwise, an epic idea man. Congrats!

      Josh Thomson I just had a thought, would lightning strikes be common in those high places? What do you think?

    • @AmazeWebs
      @AmazeWebs 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I wouldn't be concerned about lightning... There are methods for dealing with it. Aka non ionised structural feet, lightning won't hit something that isn't earthed. (Actually I take this back lol).
      or just refer to other tall buildings and their risk prevention solutions

      I was thinking along those lines also. The reflection on the ground and surrounding skyscrapers is going to be hell. Not just in the blinding amount of light reflected off what I'm guessing are glass panels but also the increased amount of heat generated from it. I could see living in the upper layers to an extent but there's no way I'd want to live in the near area.

    • @z128791
      @z128791 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The permanent shadow is a wrong assumption for any latitude, other than the equator and the countries there are not going to be spending money any time soon to experiment with concept architecture like this. The artist did mention below the video that this is not meant to be actually built. Then again... Dubai has outdone itself with some pretty crazy structures in the last 20 years, so don't rule this Lotus out just yet. Throw enough money at a project and even the space elevator could become a reality in the near future. All you have to worry about is to stay alive long enough to witness something like this.

    Cheers to the talented guy and his team that created this brilliant concept... I think they would be amazing set along a tropical coastline with elevators in the 'stem' going down to the sea bed, allowing people living above to enjoy the aquatic life. (Especially with global water levels expected to rise as the glacial caps vanish.)

    Beautiful but not very practical. You have very thin and high sturctures. That gives you a lot of elevator shafts and very little usable space per floor. And by raising the terrain up on such a huge platform, it will just shadow for everyone below it.

    • @hudayfaosman3162
      @hudayfaosman3162 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Repeatears Repeatears well actually the park on top would need to have soil and trees on top of it so that causes the shadow underneath, good observation however. Also in my opinion i dont think its much of a problem due to the fact that the sun is constantly moving around so light will reach the buildings underneath at some point of day

    3. Usable and rented space is minimal due to thin structure.
    4. Excessively expensive platform.
    5. Throws perpetual shadows to nearby buildings.
    6. Aerial space invasion.
    7. Earthquakes, the structure is way too heavy on top.
    8. The steel structure for it is way too complex.
