    I love that you shared this tip..I do this all the time! I often fill a zip-lock baggie full and then give it to my younger grandkids and they love to paste and glue them unto construction paper, I always include any cut out image that maybe didn't stamp right or I did too many etc. Kids love them. Again TFS

    Happy New Year, Lindsay. I love these ideas. I was the little kid in first grade that saved the wrappers off my crayons because they were too pretty to throw away. Fifty plus years later I don't have those, but I've got quite a bit of saved paper scraps. Thanks so much!

    I like to use up scraps too! I punch out small hearts and stars and strips of varying widths for card or planner accents. Small circles are cute for eyes. Strips and triangles are great for paper quilts.
    White scraps are the best because I can ink or color them to match whatever card or planner item I'm making.
    Foil papers and black card stock are so handy as punched/die cut letters, stars or hearts.

      I found a quilling crimper that can make scrap strips look a bit like grosgrain. SADLY - I don't think this embossing corner punch is made anymore. I've found a couple for sale but they were all $50 + !!!!

    Butterflies and leaves, circles, squares and some flower petals. I also keep squares, rectangles, and strips of various sizes. My grand daughters love using them when they make cards and scrapbook.

    I have found one way that works for me with my scrapbooking scraps that hopefully can help someone else with the same issue. We all have seen or purchased the envelopes with “ windows?”1 make sure I have at least one when I working on my pages. Once I’m done, my scraps, separated by color, sometimes by the paper packet, go into to “window” envelopes. Most of the time, I put those scraps back into the book they initially came from. Works great for me,

    I've used a hole punch/cropadile and then when I glued them to my project a touch of glossy accents and it looks like a matching enamel dot.

    Thank you so much for the tips. Especially the one about using "unusable" scraps to make home-made papers. I ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ LOVE that idea. Perhaps saving them all until there's enough home-made papers for an album!

    I use plastic sheet protectors as pockets in a huge notebook, with colors of different paper/cardstock scraps sorted in different pockets. That way i have small scraps for different things without having to cut into a new sheet, and because it is not pre-cut to anything I have more leeway on what the scraps can be used for. The clear pockets allow me to see instantly what color that pocket contains, but I also put a label along the right edge so that I can flip quickly to the color. I can add more pockets as needed to the notebook without it taking up more space on the shelf.

      I do: big scraps into card bases. then journal card sizes. then. I cut down 3x3 and put them in the drawer under my big shot. when I want to die cut something I have those pieces to die cut but I also have precut things I use a lot. made out of punches. dies takes longer, with a punch I can easily cut a bunch while watching TV. I bought some punches specifically for my scraps. they include balloons, flowers, pineapple, bows, banners and hearts. long strips get cut in half and they put in the same drawer (with dividers ) those are used for word banners. another drawer has specialty paper scraps or my favorite paper scraps. glitter paper I use every piece of. I have been loving my pineapple punch for that. and finally all white goes into a separate basket. from there I cut card sizes. and all the scraps are used for stamping images I am going to cut out. and strips into banners
      I don't know if all that made sense lol should I do a video ?

  • @karenjohnson3406
    @karenjohnson3406 8 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Thanks Lindsay. I love watching your videos. I watch all the way from Australia. I do exactly the same thing with my scraps. I often take the leftover bits that I can't get another die or punch in and run them through my paper shredder. This makes really pretty packing material for packaging gifts. I mix it with off cuts of ribbon as well. At Christmas I added some old tinsel cut up. Sometimes I put it in loose or sometimes I bag it in clear plastic bags. My friends love it and look forward to their gifts as there is usually a few little chocolates or goodies hidden in the paper.

    Always a woman after my own heart. I love to save as much as I can, and sort and reuse for other useful things. Great ideas as always! I love the photo corner idea...must find that punch. Also, some other uses for that paper which run along the same lines: use as small tags, confetti for shaker projects, etc., and use other punches on them like small shapes and such. Also small scraps even in irregular sizes are great for pasting down onto mixed media pages. Even as is they can make awesome visual shapes, textures, and colors. =)
    Thanks as always for great tips. Most of all I am so grateful you put out such consistent and useful content. I can count on you each week to have videos to watch, the same as any favorite weekly TV shows. With so many people only putting out some content and then once they make money they go quiet or only advertise, you are so dependable to have great tips, helpful instruction, and very entertaining dialogue. Plus you're just fun! =) Happy New Year Lindsay, to you and your family!

    This is exactly what I do but I use every bit possible and save lots of various die cuts. I even save certain of the "waste" from the insides of die cuts like letters or other shapes. Tiny circles can be used for eyes or pupils, centers of flowers and more. Swirls and other interesting shapes can be used as embellishments.

    So cool Lindsey! I use those little rectangle dollar store containers, the ones that you get 12 to a pkg...I think you only get 10 now but hey, still a bargain!LOL Anyhoo, I use scraps to cut small bits like flowers, labels, clouds, swirls, stars, leaves. I tape one shape to each tiny container and then quickly at a glance I have my pre done stash on hand. They stack so easy and take up minimal space. Great for any spur of the moment project🚑

    Seems like you are always thinking Lindsey, I have just been keeping these big ole scraps on the door wasting up space...well not really, because my Granddaughters do make cards from the scraps I put there...waste not, want not...but I know they would love using more embellishments if I gave them a whole bunch of these! Well of course first I am going to ask them if they will partake in the punching, then we can all reap the rewards! Love this idea!!! Thanks again Lindsey for another great tip....and I love the name...No scrap left behind!!!

    I also use my punches to make embellishments which are then sorted by size and color. When I have time, I'll make cards with those embellishments, but in the meantime, all the 5-petaled flowers are stored together, for instance. A lot of diecuts find themselves stored as embellishments too. In any given week, depending on what we're doing, I'll need 70 of any particular embellishment by Monday morning, and that's just for my art classes. Winter recess guarantees that kids will "drop in", hoping to "make something". My scraps have to be too small to manipulate in a paper punch before they're sent to the collage bin.

  • @opal777
    @opal777 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use my leaf punches for green papers and use those all of the time for tucking in behind flowers. I also use my flower punches for other colors and when I am bored....it pull those out and make layered flowers which I try to make it so that I have odd numbers that match...like 3 or 5 for cards and pages. Butterflies are great too. Otherwise, it is circles or squares. But, now that I saw your button and corner punch....two things to add to my wish list.

Pattern paper I save to make a patchwork backgrund or other paper paper piecing to get a nice pattern on, for example a shirt instead of coloring that part of the stamp motif I stamp and cut out that part....for this Paper Scraps works well!

    Could you please show us some time how to make the paper out of scraps please

    This is such an obvious idea of the type "why didn't I think of that". I keep my rectangular scrap pieces but if I had some like the green paper I'd probably just toss it in the recycling. tfs

    I have a Question for Lindsay or anyone who has advice. I am new to crafting and would like to start investing in either punches or a die cutting machine. What is the most cost effective? Also, is the Spellbinders Sapphire Mini Die Cutting Machine a good buy? I do mostly mixed media.
    thank you so much Lindsay for all of your work and wonderful videos! You NEVER talk too much, I learn so much from you :)
    thank you Heather

      Lindsay has a stamp school video about die cutters. I would not only watch that but I would look for reviews and videos on the different machines. A little less than 2 years ago I bought my first one. I bought a Big Shot and I love it. My research convinced me it was the best choice for me. I would definitely suggest watching comparison videos and researching the options.

    I really like the idea of making paper from the "unusable" scraps.

      +Han Pham No, no it IS a good idea .... you can make teeny little flowers out of the confetti. That's what I do. Cheers, Ginny :o)

    I love this. My problem is that I have a folder full of scraps waiting to be punched or die cut. 😬
