- In this video I talk about critical Money related lessons to teach your children. I often wished that I had someone to teach me these lessons as I would have achieved even more. The 7 lessons include:
1. The importance and value of money
2. The difference between assets and liabilities and a good purchase and a bad purchase.
3. Make your money work for you - Using passive income to acquire wealth by investing in real estate, bonds, stocks etc.
4. Don’t subscribe to lifestyle inflation.
5. Knowing the difference between a good debt and a bad debt - A credit card for example is highlighted as a bad debt.
6. To be entrepreneurs and not employees
7. You are not entitled to anything - learn to acquire wealth based on effort, commitment and sacrifice.

As a retired corporate executive who led thousands of employees globally at the Vice President level in a US Fortune 500 company for most of my 25 years career, I made the decision to retire at age 42 to pursue my passion and purpose. Well well…if money doesn’t buy you happiness then what will…I don’t care what anyone says, money WILL buy me the things that will make me happy. To the people who say otherwise, let’s see your thought after not being able to have dinner or food in general not because you choose not to but because you just don’t have it…or not having a home or having to wear clothes your mother gets from people who are throwing them out or taking turn to go to school because everyone can’t go at once then let’s have this convo again
You and I are on the same page. When you are able to find happiness inside and not reply on external factors you can be happy on your own. All you need at that time is money to create a great experience. To your point many who say that have not had it hard. I had to watch my beloved grandmother wither away and die because we could not afford basic treatment. He who feels it knows it.

First and foremost what you just said about financial literacy not being taught in school I must say that it should be. Half the subjects taught in schools are not even helpful in the real world. Build on student’s skills better yet teach a skill. We force so many unnecessary subjects with unnecessary topics down the minds of students and half the time they aren’t useful.
I wish someone would tell me when in the real world are we going to use trigonometry 🙄
