    • @autoobsessivegarage
      @autoobsessivegarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Smacksmack206 real world testing is usually a heartbreaker when compared to testing on a prepped track. The positive is that the numbers way more closely reflect what the actual performance of the car is.

    • @rl9010
      @rl9010 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Smacksmack206 we just ran acceleration tests without paying much attention to the battery levels. I am sure if we took time and charged the battery a little more we could squeeze more time out. But these were real world conditions, so more reflective of what is running around vs being prepared for a run.

      Hi. Nice car. I have same but in white :)
      Im going to put 19" on my car. I like how back is but front have to be lowered. Its 450h problem with front seating too high . Can i buy only front springs and lower it, or do i need to buy all four springs? Im afraid that back will be too low if i change all 4. Sorry im complete noob in this.

    I've got a 2006 GS300 here in the UK. To be honest, my acceleration, braking and general handling figures are much the same as the GS450h that you tested. Comfort levels are simply fantastic, the car is a joy to drive....anywhere!
    The difference lies in fuel consumption I imagine, you didn't mention that, but mine returns 40+ miles per UK gallon and between 21 & 31 mpg around town. I was pleased that you were impressed; I've been thinking about upgrading to a gs450h but I'm not so sure now

    • @autoobsessivegarage
      @autoobsessivegarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those are absolutely stunning numbers from a GS300. I’m not sure with my testing equipment the cars are all that close. This tuned GS450h put down acceleration numbers on par with many 400hp cars I’ve tested.
      In fact, I believe the GS450h nearly matched the GS460 out of the box.
      I do love that 3.0 Liter though.

    • @davidmwood560
      @davidmwood560 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a pity you weren't testing a stock GS450h. That would have been a better comparison. My fuel consumption is not all that unusual as far as I can determine. I think it has to do with how the car is driven. I happen to be a highly trained chauffeur driver, (now retired), so my style of driving is focussed upon a smooth, but rapid and comfortable ride. Of course, I can thunder the car if I wish, and I'm certainly no slouch; but why bother when I can travel smoothly and quickly without drama. That amazing 6 speed transmission is a big help. I think I'll have to borrow a GS45Oh and see how it performs as a standard car - then make up my mind.

    • @FredericFreedom
      @FredericFreedom ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi I'm thinking about getting this very car very soon. You defo getting 40 mpg + on motorway? That's impressive for 3ltr v6 ! I thought it would be much lower than that!

    • @davidmwood560
      @davidmwood560 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FredericFreedom: it's all about how you drive. The UK gallon is of course larger than its USA counterpart, my figures are based up a UK gallon using 99 octane fuel. (These cars must NEVER be run on low octane fuels)
      On the open road (motorways) I use the car's cruise facility extensively, it works very well indeed. You'll find that, in winter conditions, fuel consumption is a little higher than in warmer weather. This is due to the way in which the Lexus engine management computer works. A few essentials for ownership.
      Check very carefully before you buy, (pretty obvious I know, but I've seen excitement take over far too often to ignore it). Once you have your car, no matter what you've been told; find a reliable mechanic and have the oils (0 - W30 fully synthetic) changed alomg with filters, including air-filter, and ensure that the Massed Air-flow Sensor is cleaned. This oil service, if carried out every 5,000 miles, will ensure your engine runs at full efficiency for up to a million miles! Service every 15,000 miles.
      You're buying one of the finest cars ever made, (as good or better than a Rolls Royce), it deserves to be cared for. Now, these cars are fast...very fast indeed! A 2006 GS300 will do 160mph! You can hoon it around like crazy and it'll keep coming back for more; but I find great comfort in cruising well within the limits and nust enjoying the ride. After all, with that kind of power under your right foot - you've got nothing to prove! Enjoy my friend

    I'll take that review! lol. Mine is a 2008 on 125k miles, so far no issues. Just got Techstream figured out so really happy with that. Totally standard, although it does need stiffening side to side. The handling can feel a bit awkward if you're even slightly off line/ balance in the corner, I put that down to the relative high position of the battery. With 5 adults on board it recently delivered 42mpg over 800 miles, and it was not going slow.

      Sway bars don't change the geometry of the suspension. It simply replaces a thinner stock bar. I have front installed and the rear sway bar is stock. The reason for this is the Tom's brace kit for the rear does not fit the f-sport sway bar. If you are looking for higher speed stability for cornering, this is a mod to do. You will feel less body roll and a more direct feeling during side to side weight transitions. I feel far more confident cornering with a sway bar equipped gs450h. When I had both front and rear installed it was "good enough" but I did want a stiffer chassis. TL:DR :makes care MORE stable compared to stock. Recommend for a more solid cornering experience.

      @@terryharada5194 Thank you for the reply. speaking with GS450h, I am also wondering about how you guys are dealing with the hybrid battery death issue. In Korea, it is a huge problem amongst a lot of GS450h. Most of GS450h hybrid batteries run out dead when they reaches the mileage 150000~20000 km. It is so serious that even some owner has dumped his lexus car to save the cost for scrapping.
      I would like you to share how you guys are dealing with the problem.. It stresses out so many lexus hybrid car owners here particularly because no one knows how to fix or recycle the battery. The dealer only gets the super expensive genuine battery from Japan.

    • @terryharada5194
      @terryharada5194 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hdover real the hybrid battery issue is also a concern amount owners here. However, we have hybrid battery specialist shops that are able to source new battery packs. It is a pricey repair, but I see the hybrid battery as a consumable part. Expect to pay 3-4,000.00 dollars for replacement. Gs450h battery pack is essentially two Prius packs put together.

    • @terryharada5194
      @terryharada5194 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Almost, I had to add a rubber reducer tube and clamp. I believe the size was 3.5 inches to 2.5 inches. Don't quote me on that, I took multiple visits to the auto store to find the perfect fit. The GS450h intake box has a slightly smaller circumference than the gs350 intake box. It would be a direct fit for the gs350.
