- This week several motorists were robbed of their belongings during peak traffic on the M1-M2 split at the Crown Interchange in Johannesburg early on Tuesday morning by five men armed with 9mm guns.
The latest crime statistics show that nationally Robbery with aggravating circumstances stood at over 40 000.

We need to fix corruption in police dept as well, we can not reduce crime when police are corrupt or laugh at victims

Just saw on the news, there are over 250 Ekurhuleni police with criminal records currently in their jobs. How can SAPS solve crimes when they are the criminals??

In the USA we watched an uptake on crimes derived from the use of firearms and it was never taken as a national security of the years. It goes to show they focused more on finances than human life
@rastasfricangentleman... the uptake in crime and shooting is gang related and check out the demographics of the crimes. Besides, majority of gun related crimes are in Democrat(blue)states,which have stringent gun laws.

@@Loinheartleo you miss the point, regardless of Blue States which is a fact that the irony of the numbers don't speak to the policies in place. The mass shooting which aren't gang related are ignored because they happen all over, especially in Red States. These have never been labeled as National Security Threats even though they are Americans killing Americans and the demographics show they are the opposite of gang crimes. Moral of the Story, Capitalist Countries care about money more than their citizens. We as South Africans wanted to call a National Security Threat on Crime only when Cash in Transit Vehicles were targeted and not when a spike in murders especially in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape had record numbers far exceeding KZN and Gauteng for years and hence the last deployment of soldiers that added no value in the Cape. South Africa needs modern resources, effective training, intelligence upgrades, increase in specialised personnel like detectives and forensic experts and a move to storing files online and not on paper where we find dockets missing on corruption terms. Integrated CCTV expansions like in China and USA. But most importantly to do a crime operation sweep that also includes searches and roadblocks in Suburbs because criminals have figured out how racist and stereotypical our Law Enforcements work and hence they now hide and operate from Estates, Gated Communities and Top Tier Suburbs. One KZN Gangster was shot and killed in a Gun Fight with the NIU last year in Zimbali Golf Estate running his empire which was 133kms away from his mansion
@@cy-villian We were close to Civil War as a country in the 2021 July Unrest alone. We saw criminals and politicians use frustrated citizens as pawns to loot, destroy and kill. Here different Private Security Companies which are regulated facilitated 45 racist murders of which some were recorded but not a single perpetrator was convicted. We are too young as a nation to go that route, we need more investments and resources for our Law Enforcements and Prosecutors. I partake on Community Policing Forums and Community Safety and Liaison Programs just to try and add value myself as well

Please provide me with an account / details of one the 45 racist murders (murder is unacceptable, we are all GOD's / JAH's children) which took place . Which state, when, who was the victim. Take R 2 billion from useless VIP protection. If the people LOVE these VIPs - and their families - SO MUCH(???) - WHY do they need protection. Protect the poor, not the rich. If you want security, pay out your own pocket. Then put R 1 billion each into SIU, detectives.

My grandfather visited South Africa during the apartheid he mentioned that it was safe and a great country. It's a shithole now, only one race to blame.

The sad part that in South Africa the South African black people are given everything for free in poverty stricken and non poverty stricken areas, most of the people don't know that tax payers money give them all that, there shouldn't be poverty and crime in south Africa because they are compensated in every aspect of living, people are lazy and just want things for nothing
The only solution for crime is economic prosperity for all citizens. The cause of crime is poverty perpetuated by economic apartheid experienced in this country. The wealth of the nation which was supposed to be redistributed to the underprivileged downtrodden masses in 1994 remained concentrated and controlled by those few individuals and their corporations. They privatized and monopolized the wealth of the country which was supposed to be used for the welfare and to bring at least moderate prosperity to underprivileged south africans. Crime will never end unless economists embark on a plan to redistribute surplus of goods to underprivileged people in our country. Peace will become a national condition only when citizens who are experiencing economic privation are lifted out of pools of poverty.
And those corrupt, criminals in the government are they also poverty stricken .
The ANC has had 30 years to improve the lives of South Africans. Instead, they have stolen Trillions. Stop blaming the apartheid. for the total failure of your own elected government. South Africa is a failed nation, champions only of corruption.
