What was your GPA? What extra-curricular activities did you engage in? What are your attributions for success? What were your revision methods or how did you study for exams? What was your preferred time of study and finally what was your diet like?
I'm graduating as Summa Cum Laude from highschool but I didn't try my best I just did what was expected from me. I did what every other student should do like turn hw on time and study a bit the day before tests. I also did not take part in any extracurricular activities but oh well
@@michaelw7327 I'm in high school ._. and yeah I did everything a normal student does. Why would I lie. I never got to be part of any club because I have to take of my little sister every day that means I have a bit more time to do hw and study a bit. I also almost never go out so yep. Why would I lie about it I barely knew about graduating as Summa Cum Laude, I got an email from my school saying I'd be graduating in white and that only 135 people of my high school are doing the same
This whole interview is a marketing stand point. I don't think he needed college to be the artist that he is today. This is just another session of interviewing an artist and asking them about there struggles and emphasizing that he attended college. His success in the music industry has nothing to do with college. Good for JCole by think this whole interview is bogus.
5 year old reply - oh well.. Something my math professor taught us was that we needed grit to be successful in her class. Grit brought me patience in times I wanted to rage quit my hw, pause studying. Grit made me understand overcoming mental struggle. I've kept it with me ever since and I apply it to life. J.cole optimized his college venture and turned it into a rap career. I don't think that smart man would be rapping the same kinds of albums if he never became exposed to his own grit that he prolly discovered during his college venture
@@valioma9108 Right. What people don't realize is that even if you aspire to have a career that doesn't require a college education, college helps you hone certain character traits and intellectual traits that make your life so much more rewarding. Sure, he could be a successful rapper without college, but would the lyricism, word play, vocab, or analytical ability he displays in his raps be the same? Would his work ethic and perseverance be the same? Also, J. Cole isn't psychic, so I doubt if he knew he'd be eventually have a successful rap career when he decided to attend college, so it was wise to give himself something to fall back on in the event that his rap career didn't work out. As it stands, many failed rappers are 35 and 45 years-old with nothing to show for their years on Earth because they put all their eggs in the rap basket trying to be the next Jay Z or Lil Wayne, but did nothing to prep themselves for a life outside of music.
Never knew that about J. Cole. Hey good for him thats awesome.
Graduated high school with 4.2 gpa, and college with a 3.8
He graduated on top of his class. Applause! I think he would study more into philosophy/mythology/ideology.
Much respect
this was very inspiring
J.cole

Quick question YALL .. how do y’all feel on going to college full time but pursuing rap on a serious level ?
It can absolutely be done but you will sacrifice a lot .. friends , free time, sleep
@@aid_n5375 not really it depends on the kind of music and what height you plan to go in that genre
He is the greatest
How did you study/revise for your exams, time of day, how many days before the exam, diet, etc?

Not graduate
@@dhruvkhurana6058 well now he has graduated.
What does that mean?
Why does Lee Hawkins not know how to pronounce "magna cum laude"? Seems ironic to me.
Was thinking the same thing! He's a journalist?
