In 1975, mum and i had a 15 day holiday from Sydney to the USA We flew from Sydney to Auckland to Papeete to Las Angeles about 26 hours in total. Sydney to Papeete on a UTA French DC 8. Then from Papeete to Las Angeles on a UTA DC 10-30. Travelling on a Greyhound Coach from L.A.to San Francisco, to Yosemite, to Bakersfield, to Las Vegas to Grand Canyon and back to LA and Disneyland then flying home via a 3 day stopover at Papeete. It was a fantastic holiday. I cant believe how much Las Vegas has changed. We stayed at the Circus, Circus back ten. ( at the time, i did not know about the safety record of the DC-10 . i only found out years later)
Such a nice short vlog of your travel from AU to Salt Lake City in the United States. Good to see you enjoying life and making the most of it. Hope the wedding goes well and looking forward to your next video.
Wedding was amazing thank you! I wasn’t going to post this video because I thought it was quite short too! But glad I did as it seems people are liking it :)
PHEW!!!! I feel waaaaay more stressed watching this than you two looked!! So glad you got there eventually - hope you had a wonderful time at the wedding. ☺☺
I love to save a dollar and cheap travel would be a great perk but I don't know if I could handle the stress and not knowing!! glad you made it for the wedding.
@BrieanaYoung anyway still need to board flight to the island from mainland Australia specifically,Perth WA and of course will travel on Virgin, hope to meet you on board! 😀
The 'Air New Zealand' flight looked amazing!! Reminds me of whenever I fly to America from Asia! Glad you made it to America! Have fun and enjoy beautiful Salt lake city. Have you been to New York yet?
Ooof I don’t know if I could deal with the stress of flying standby. It’s like Seinfeld once said flying standby is where you stand there saying “Bye!” to the plane. 😂. You held your nerve beautifully!
SLC is one of the nicest and cleanest airports in America. Also what happens to your checked bags when you don’t make the first flight. Also do you have to pay for the standby tickets when you are traveling in the US.
Our checked in bags went on the flight we didn’t get on, which is very common in America. In Australia that would never happen due to safety reasons haha but glad our bags got there eventually
Because if I booked 3 months before or 3 hours before I’ll still be at the same priority on the list, so I’d rather know the loads a few hours before and book the flight I’m most likely to get on :)
I’m still getting my head around the fact that US cabin and flight crew can fly for free between their home airport and their base airport (on standby). And that it can be with airlines other than their own. Does this happen in Australia? Brie - are you be allowed to jump seat in the US?
I don’t know if I can jump seats in the US, I would like to find this out to be honest haha! It will help for next time 😅 I know with my airline we only let virgin employees who hold and ASIC jumpseat and even then it is still up the the captain!
U look like a friendly flight attendant.......It's a very long story but being a flight attendant was my dream from 7yrs old but due to many circumstances it wasn't to be.......My life took another path but I don't regret any of it.......I too live in Melb.
Hey Brienna! Just wanted to ask something quickly. Do you get a lot of male FA in your flights? Just asking because ive been wanting to be one myself but I dont know if male FA are not that hired...

I flew from Sydney to Los Angeles and back again in 2011 & 2012 on Virgin Australia. Good experiences each time.
So great to hear that! I wish we still flew to America!
I love to save a dollar and cheap travel would be a great perk but I don't know if I could handle the stress and not knowing!! glad you made it for the wedding.
Haha yeah you definitely get what you pay for!
Air NZ pilot here!!! So glad your flights were good. Hope you enjoyed ANZ.
No way!! How fun, can’t wait to fly ANZ again some time it was a great experience!
Flying standby as a crew is a quite an experience:) thanks for sharing!
It was a wild ride!
As a FA I understand the stress getting to the airport even standby.😊 great video
Glad you can relate 😅😅 it can be so stressful!

Oh my gosh! I just had a look at cocos keeling island and they look absolutely stunning - hope you have the best time.
@BrieanaYoung anyway still need to board flight to the island from mainland Australia specifically,Perth WA and of course will travel on Virgin, hope to meet you on board! 😀

Thank you so much! Yes I have been to New York before it was one of my fav holidays! I actually vlogged my time there!
Ooof I don’t know if I could deal with the stress of flying standby. It’s like Seinfeld once said flying standby is where you stand there saying “Bye!” to the plane. 😂. You held your nerve beautifully!
Hahahah! It can definitely be like that some times!! 😂😂 thanks!
I felt the tension and anxiety even though I knew the result, great story telling Brie
Thanks! 👍
Welcome to the USA! Salt Lake City has some good ski areas
I would love to go skiing there some day!

If it was a Monday morning and the traffic was good you can safely assume it was an RDO for the industrial sector 👍
😂😂 hahaha you’re so right!
Oh my goodness love the USA my dad is from Chicago
So awesome! What’s Chicago like?
@@BrieanaYoung it’s very windy and in winter very cold and they get snow storms
@@louiseleonard1992 so best to go in the summer time sounds like haha!
AWWW brie, I was VAI back in the day.. now flying for AIRNZ.. if you ever need loads.. reach out
Ohh, you were VAI that’s so cool! Thanks Daniel that’s so sweet of you! 🙂
Was that Air NZ 777 you flew on? Glad to see you safely in the USA
Thanks! To be honest I’m not too sure what the aircraft we flew on! Possibly could be the 777
Tremendous,I would like to see more videos about this trip..
by the way, this video was short😊😊..
I think I’ll post our time down in southern Utah when we visited some of the national parks!
just out of curiosiity why did you not book them in advance and last minute??
Because if I booked 3 months before or 3 hours before I’ll still be at the same priority on the list, so I’d rather know the loads a few hours before and book the flight I’m most likely to get on :)
How was Salt Lake, my best friend lives there
salt lake was great, enjoyed it!

Did you ever tell us how how Braden's family ended up in the states???
His parents remarried Americans and his father and sisters still live there while his mother and other siblings are back in Australia :)
