I’ve wondered if an alien society visited tens of thousands of years ago and manipulated the ape species into humans. Or put it on the path at least. Or plant the seeds of life, allowing evolution to evolve. No idea obviously, but at this point anything’s possible.

    • @craigrussell3062
      @craigrussell3062 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

I've always wondered why this kind of explanation seems satisfying to people. When confronted with the fact that something extremely improbable occurred (intelligent life evolving from single-celled organisms on Earth), people seem to think this can be explained by something a million times more improbable occurring (intelligent life evolving from single-celled organisms on another planet, developing the technology to explore space, then coming to Earth and influencing our evolution.) These hypothetical super-intelligent aliens would also have an origin that needs to be explained, so this "alien origin" explanation includes another version of the exact same problem we're trying to explain, plus it adds several new problems to the equation. By definition, this is a much more unlikely explanation than just accepting that evolution itself has the power to produce us.
This is just basic probability theory. Think about it: what's more likely, (1) that I'll come to work today, or (2) that I'll come to work today wearing a red shirt? Because (2) is a subset of (1), it is by definition less probable. Every example of coming to work in a red shirt is also an example of coming to work, but the reverse isn't true. And yet people are addicted to the opposite kind of thinking. People want to believe that our reality is a simulation, that we're all in some version of The Matrix. Okay... so that simulation would ultimately have to take place within a reality that is not a simulation, where some kind of beings developed the technology to create simulations, and then trapped us all in one. A non-simulated reality is a necessary precondition for a simulated reality, so how could simulations be more probable than non-simulations?
This is also why god probably isn't real.

The evolution of life on Earth is a complex and multifaceted process driven by a combination of genetic variation, natural selection, and environmental factors. At the core of this process is the concept of adaptation organisms gradually changing to better fit their environments over successive generations. Mutations, which introduce genetic diversity, provide the raw material for evolution. Through natural selection, beneficial traits become more common in a population, while less advantageous ones diminish.
Key factors contributing to the evolution of life on Earth include:
    1. Genetic Variation: Genetic mutations, recombination during reproduction, and horizontal gene transfer introduce variations within populations. These variations provide the raw material for evolution, with advantageous mutations increasing an organism's survival and reproduction chances.
    2. Natural Selection: Organisms with traits that offer a survival advantage in a given environment are more likely to reproduce and pass those traits on to the next generation. Over time, this leads to the accumulation of beneficial adaptations and the gradual shift in the traits of a population.
    3. Environmental Factors: The environment plays a crucial role in shaping the course of evolution. Climate, food availability, predators, and other environmental pressures drive natural selection. Organisms must continuously adapt to changing conditions to thrive, which contributes to the diversification of life.
    4. Speciation: Over time, populations of a species can become isolated geographically or reproductively. This isolation can lead to genetic divergence and the eventual formation of new species. The process of speciation contributes to the vast biodiversity seen on Earth today.
    5. Co-evolution: In ecosystems, organisms often evolve in response to one another. For example, predators and prey may evolve together in an ongoing "arms race," where predators develop better hunting strategies and prey evolve better defense mechanisms.
    6. Extinction and the Evolutionary Reset: Extinction events, such as asteroid impacts or volcanic activity, have periodically reset the evolutionary clock. After each major extinction, life on Earth has rebounded, with new species evolving to fill ecological niches left vacant by the extinct organisms.
In summary, the secret to the evolution of life on Earth lies in the interplay between genetic diversity, environmental challenges, and the slow accumulation of adaptations over time. The process of evolution, though often imperceptible within a human lifetime, has shaped the vast and diverse web of life on our planet and continues to do so today.

You start to see how everything in the universe is connected, like how all the parts of your body work together to keep you healthy. In this idea, the universe is like a giant living thing, and Earth is just one tiny part of it, like a cell in a body. Just as cells work together to keep the body well, humans are part of keeping the universe balanced. This way of thinking shows how all life is linked and reminds us that we have a duty to keep everything in balance. It's a fascinating way to think about our place in the universe and how we're connected to something much bigger than ourselves. In this way of thinking, things like wars and people like Hitler can be seen as threats to the balance, like a disease in the body. Just as the body fights off diseases, humans work together to stop these destructive forces and keep the universe in harmony. It shows how we all need to work together to keep everything in order and make sure peace wins over chaos.

What about the incredible leap between prokaryotic cells to eukaryotic cells. Seems like your wish for multiple technological civilizations has blinded you to this improbability of bridging this divide. I ran a basic Excel equation that has probabilities estimated for things like an “axis stabilizing moon”, “eukaryotic cell formation”, “G-Type star”…… I gave the eukaryotic cell formation a one in a billion probability. The equation generated a little over 150 advanced civilizations over the past 9 billion years. Extrapolating further, with a 100,000 year life of a civilization, the chance of two civilizations existing at the same time are incredibly small. Now considering two of these civilizations occurring at the same time in the same galaxy, the probability is so small to make it practically impossible. Great show!

Disturbances are oftentimes needed in nature for reproduction - such as some pine trees need fire. I guess that means some pines have found a niche for successful reproduction via this disturbance. But what we call disturbance is considered something else by the pines.
But for the most part - earth and life are interconnected by fate, not choice. And not all is really connected. Some parts of earth have nothing to do with humans or life. Just like the universe. Sometimes it seems life was some sort of disturbance to the universe. But not really connected.

Sooner or later people are going to have to face the fact that the continents broke apart in the days of Peleg, 100 years after the global flood. An asteroid hitting the earth could have been a contributing factor along with the centrifugal force of the spinning Earth which caused the broken up continents to slide north as a result. South Africa appears to be where the South Pole was before the breakup.
    * It’s the reason for the glacial striations stamped on top of the bedrock like a gigantic (broken) seal covering South America, Africa, India and Australia from glaciers that were moving from south to north from the time when the continents were all still connected to Antarctica at the South Pole. Of course, again, this was after all the sediment layers from the global flood were deposited.
    * It’s the reason fossils including those of Spinosaurus and the sediment layers line up between South America, Africa, Madagascar, India and Australia. (The fossils and sediment layers were deposited first and then the continents broke apart, 100 years after the global flood.)
    * It’s also the reason there are many frozen animals and entire forest ecosystems buried by tsunamis from the rise of sea levels in North America and Siberia as the continents were being shoved into the Arctic from the centrifugal force after the earth broke apart, possibly due to hardening of the sediment layers and other contributing factors.
    * It’s the reason animals made it to South America from Africa and humans did not make it there since they were still trying to build the Tower of Babel before the breakup of the continents. However jaguars were separated from leopards, greater grisons were separated from African honey badgers, tapirs were separated from …tapirs, otters were separated from …otters and all of the other animals arrived at various isolated places around the world before the breakup of the continents.
    * It’s the reason why the lifespan of humans was cut in half *a second time* since the global flood from less than a 500 year lifespan to less than a 250 year lifespan. It was a time of dramatic changes to the environment.
    * It’s the reason why the meaning of the word Peleg in Hebrew that meant “divided” turned into “as (or where) the waters flow” (in between the continents) in the later Aramaic form of Hebrew. That’s quite an impressive but understandable change in the use of the word considering such chatostrofic events.
    * It’s the reason people isolated into family groups and began speaking their own languages. (Everything that happens is of course ultimately by the power of God.)
    * It’s the reason for the formation of the Marianas trench and other subduction zones. The potential for movements of the plates and continents is very likely considering the volumes associated with them. It wouldn’t take much geologically speaking to get them to move although they have reached a place of equilibrium at this point.
    * It’s the reason there are dinosaur footprints between Africa and South America in the sediment layers also showing that the breakup of the continents happened after the sediments were deposited by the global flood.
*Last but not least, it’s the reason penguins from Antarctica never made it to the Arctic. The penguins found there in the Arctic were buried by tsunamis and apparently never recovered in the Arctic. …And now you know the rest of the story, the whole story.
