I am a retired American Marine. I have visited this very beautiful park many times. In 2022, while jogging in the park one morning, I was able to watch the Philippine Marines conduct their posting. Afterwards, I was able to speak with their leader and he allowed me to take pictures with their Marines. --- Semper Fi!!!!!
The first time I was at Rizal Park was in 1976, during Martial Law, and there were soldiers who guarded the monument. We could get closer in those days. One time we even watched the changing of the guard. It was a nice ceremony. Too bad there are any military guards there now.
Hi there, first, thanks for watching my contents and for the comment. So, why were you here at that time? How did you find Rizal Park, when will you be back?
@@VirtualWalkPH I was here visiting some people I knew who are now in the US. We were being typical tourists and going around to all the touristy places of those days. There was a restaurant near the park which had deaf service staff. I used to go there for coffee or lunch sometimes. Also was there at night once and watched a group of Philippine Army fellows being transported along Rizal Avenue. They began waving and yelling, so I waived and yelled back. After they had gone by, I turned around to see a group of people looking at me - I guess I was the only one cheering and waving at the soldiers. I didn't know quite what to do, so I waived at the crowd. I have been past the park several times since returning to the Philippines to retire here. Never had a chance to stop though.
Thank you very much for this memories of Rizal Park. Watching from San Antonio Texas USA
