  • The Waterpark Wildwood NEVER Got
    If you have been following the news lately you would have seen that a new waterpark is coming to Atlantic City.
    The $100 million indoor water park will sit on the Atlantic City Boardwalk and will be called Island Waterpark.
    It will feature water slides, pools, a lazy river, food and beverage outlets, retails space, lounge areas, and more.
    The water park will be a mix of an outdoor water park and an indoor one. This would allow for folks to enjoy it year around.
    But did you know that North Wildwood was supposed to have one of it’s own?

    How much do you wish this was here instead of what's there now?

    Thanks, Joey! I had no idea about the original plans. The future development in Atlantic City looks awesome!

    Used to drive down on Saturday nights to hear a great singer Lou DeMeis at the end of Sea Port pier. Have several of Lou's cassettes & CD'S. He now only performs in Las Vegas. Think building a high rise hotel on beach would ruin the view. Bad enough that you can no longer hear the ocean from the boardwalk due to long beach. Back in the 60's use to eat breakfast at a resturant in North Wildwood that was on the beach that was assesabile by a walkway from the boardwalk. Best thing back then beach was narrow and water came up to edge of the resturant.

    I'm not mad about it not happening. It would have caused a ripple effect throughout the island and priced out many people from vacationing in Wildwood, including myself.

    This would of totally changed the North end of the Wildwood boardwalk and given family’s a a chance to visit Wildwood in the winter. Seaport pier is a major let down.

    Thanks Joey! Indoor water slide with a tall building...I am not sure...Wildwood is primarily a beautiful beach. But the project looked very cool!

    Wow, very interesting! I’m glad we didn’t get that. I feel like it would have ruined the feel of the Wildwoods. I really like Seaport Pier and feel it’s a great addition. I can’t say the same for the pool since you can’t see or use it unless you’re a member. The fees are also way too high to become a member. But, regardless I think it’s cool a to have a pool on the beach like that.

    Thank God it fell through. It would have been a disaster. Plus, after the last 2 years, it would have closed and a huge eye sore would have been left.

  • @bigbill245

    I think the seaport pier is a better fit for WW, an indoor water park at that scale would not feel right on the beach. I love them warm summer nights with the music playing. But i don't understand the pool. Do a lot of people go to it?

    • @WildwoodVideoArchive
      @WildwoodVideoArchive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The price has people going away from it.
      It's 1000+ Per Year for the first person in your family, then $200 per extra. so 5 people for the summer is about $1600-$1800 (depends if some of those folks were children)

    • @WildwoodVideoArchive
      @WildwoodVideoArchive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      plus it's $100-$200 per day for a cabana

    2006-2008 was a crazy time in development. Everyone was getting loans, which of course lead to the crash I remember my local barber in Camden County was working on a multi-unit townhome deal... and I thought... if my all-cash business barber has a development deal like this going, its going to catch up with us all eventually.

    I always knew as the Wildwood beaches get bigger and bigger every year, somebody would try to put a hotel right on the beach. And if my memory serves me right, I believe that back in '04 or '05, or maybe even earlier, they were seriously talking about moving the boardwalk closer to the water. If that ever happens, I think they'll eventually start building huge entertainment complexes closer to the beach.

    Have anything been done with the dunk tank booth on the boardwalk? I believe it has been closed for several years now and wonder if there are plans to reopen it?

    • @FrankieJ1981
      @FrankieJ1981 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I looked for it this past summer but I didn't see it.. The guy in the tank that would insult people would of gotten canceled anyway, everyone is to uptite nowadays lol

    Seaport pier is always considered ghetto pier whenever I visit. Try to stay away from it lol. Complete fail from the city of wild wood and the approval from NJ on this one.

    Hi we have been going down to Wildwood Wildwood Crest for twenty years and we'd like to know what happened with Captain Schumann did he retire and sell his boat we used to take our kids on it every time we went and would you be able to suggest a few really good seafood restaurants we seem to go to the same ones when we're down there and I'll be honest they're not that good anymore it's nice to get updates

    • @brianhaflin9799
      @brianhaflin9799 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe Captain Schumann's business sunk due to COVID and age/retirement.

    I think Wildwood needs a new pier not owned by Morey's......just seems like they own Wildwood and I think Wildwood needs a new action pier!

  • @patrickracer43
    @patrickracer43 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So, basically it was during that time when they really wanted to build high rises on the island
    Edit: I didn't know about this project and I work for Andy Wiener in the summer

    IMO Seaport Pier is a total rip off. Think about it. It's an outdoor pool and for the so called year for a single membership is $599? but wait, there is only about 4 months of good swimming weather. so that is NOT a true year rate. So the Seaport Pier is lying to you for the year rate membership rate.

    Honesty, Hurricane Sandy would have probably destroyed it anyway and it would be in the ocean.

    • @WildwoodVideoArchive
      @WildwoodVideoArchive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hurricane Sandy really didn't do any damage down here. Sure a bit of wind damage but our dunes did their jobs
