It’s 3am in South Africa and I have no business being awake at this time but im here binge watching all your videos learning all things luxury. Thanks Anesu❤
Excellent video! I love your advice and take it seriously! Now I am seriously considering treating myself to a belt when I’m back in Paris. I do have a request. Can you produce a video on quality leather gloves? With winter coming, it would be a wonderful addition to your expertise and wonderful advice! Thank you.
@Atypical60 @soAnesu Yes! I love a good leather glove, preferably with a cashmere lining (hate synthetic linings, as my hands are always too cold or too warm). I have some good quality high street gloves that have lasted really well, but gloves can be difficult as I have small hands.
I have several Elliot Rhodes belts. They're my go-to! They are full grain, vegetable tanned and hand stiched. What I love most is that you can switch out the buckle, so a belt can go from day to night or discrete to statement in the blink of an eye. My oldest belts are about 8 years old and used regularly without excessive wear. Prices vary depending on the belt strap and the buckle, and Ive found their service very good.
JM Davidson started with belts. I wonder if they are still as robustly made. I like Margaret Howell clothes I’ve never considered their accessories although I have a sneaky feeling production is different now…
My understanding is even the best quality edge paint will end up chipping and cracking. Folded edges are a much higher quality finishing process. Another process you sometimes find in high quality independant leather goods is a very glossy burnished edge but I believe it does not work with all types of leather.
I don’t think your understanding is correct please cite your source. What makes you think folded edges are a higher quality of finishing process? Do you have specific bags or brands in mind that do this?
14:25 I have been studying and learning to make leather handbags and shoes, and have ordered bespoke handbags and shoes… from what I’ve learned as a (beginner!) maker and buyer of bespoke leather goods, it is standard acceptable practice to use various stiffeners, foam sheets for enhanced embossing and shaping, nylon tape, and other reinforcements in construction. What SHOULD NOT happen is the delamination you demonstrated. The stitching, glue, and edge coating-executed properly-should prevent that.
I live for your opinion and comments
You’re so sweet thank you.
I did not expect to learn so much - thank you for always going the extra mile.❤

Thank you. Gloves are on my list but it may not be this year as a few brands are in the EU and my remaining trips are already accounted for.

@danishpastry6137 cashmere feels so much better!
@SoAnesu I won't buy gloves with any other lining now.
@danishpastry6137 good call!

I have J&M Davidson belts from the early days and still love them. Also original Margaret Howell belts from the 90s with Sterling silver buckles.

Govanhi has some quality belts, they are a new brand.
Is that the correct spellling of the brand as nothing is coming up?
