Yoooo 😅 that person must love that series. It's a pretty cool series. Too bad the nes part 3 game never was finished. Will the other half of the cell saga
The sad thing about Daniella is that she isn't artificial at all. The game director revealed that she's a normal woman, who got kidnapped by Ricardo at a young age and was broken so badly by his abuse that she believed she was a homonculus
That adds a whole new layer of tragedy to her backstory... so she was infertile, and abused so badly she lost her ability to feel pleasure and pain. That's just plain horrible
I was so excited for that game, I even bought it on Day 1...but I never finished it, I tuned out, and just never bothered returning to it. Here's hoping they remaster Clock Tower 2 and continue to ignore Struggle Within.
I was wondering if you were gonna mention Jennifer and Nolan’s weird ass uncomfortable relationship. The second Nolan was introduced and you emphasized that he was a “26-year-old FULLY GROWN MAN”, I knew where it was headed. Thank you for that 😂
At first I was a bit confused by Clock Tower 2's different paths with Jennifer/Helen, but the way you told the stories made me appreciate it so much more! I really like that Helen's scenario is much more of an outsider's perspective where she has to learn everything herself, while Jennifer's is her piecing together what she suppressed from before. When I think of it that way, the progression of each scenario make a bit more sense.
Ever since one of my friends introduced me to Clock Tower I've always been curious about the series as a whole and how they connect. It's a wild ride but I can see why fans enjoy it. I hope one day there's a collection of sorts to play it on modern consoles. Thank you so much for your research and easy to follow video as always!
I played CT3 and Haunting grounds in my teens and loved both the games. I heard about Nightcry but wasn’t aware it was apart of the series so thank you for making this video explaining everything and making me remember the fascinating stories of the series.
I still wish we could get a Clock Tower film adaptation, hopefully one that isn't just "in name only", or just remake Phenomena and call it Clock Tower, I just want some bigscreen Scissorman hi-jinxs.
So, something I want to point out (and this does not excuse it, it's just an explanation) about the whole thing about Jennifer and Nolan starting a relationship. In Japan, he wasn't going to be in trouble. Japan's age of consent was (and again, this is not a condonement, this is purely an observation) at the time of Clock Tower 2's development was 13. Thankfully it was raised in 2023... but not by much. It was raised to 16. This is also why you see such age discrepancies in many anime and manga as well. My point is that is a byproduct of Japan at the time, and in Japan today he would have gotten the jail time he deserved.
@@SuggestiveGaming Absolutely, I'm just suppling context, as I was not sure if you were aware of why that would have been allowed to fly in the game. I personally feel the age of consent should be 18 across the board in all nations, but here we are.
actually he would have still gotten in trouble since the location of the first 2 games was in Norway where the age of consent was 16 (she is 15 during the sequel) the only game where it took place in Japan was Ghosthead... unless you played the english vesion (the Struggle Within), then the location was changed to California
If anyone is curious, that really is DMC Dante. The game sold poorly so Capcom sold a lot of models and assets from the game to get at least a bit of money from making it. I hear the dude’s popular among Vietnamese dental commercials.
Clock Tower 1 and 2, althought have some supernatural moments, still have some senses. But the 3rd one isn't even have any first 2 game horror feeling and have more supernatural feeling, aside from Ghost Head that seems more like Gaiden rather than continuation --a
@@Upsetkiller456 why not? If anything, I think it would be MUCH better now than before because of how reproductive rights/women's bodies are so prevalent in the mainstream media. The horrors of being a woman who can give birth to new life, and how that can be exploited by malicious people... Haunting Ground was ahead of its time and I think it now's the time to revisit it. I've seen so many female gamers/reviewers praise Haunting Ground for how the game approached female-specific horrors. I think they'd appreciate it even more now.
It's still wild to me how Jennifer Simpson is just a pixelated version of Phenomena actress Jennifer Connelly. There's even a killer in that who uses scissors.
Night Cry is definitely an underrated game that followed the Clock Tower formula, but it could've used more background information and less jump scares to make it renowned. As for Clock Tower 2; Struggle Within, it seemed more like a spiritual successor to the series than an actually sequel. Overall the franchise is an original classic that deserves more respect in today's standards.

Im currently at the Clock Tower II: The Struggle Within and it sounds ABSOLUTELY ANNOYING to play, even with just the story recap. Like the arbitrary deaths sound like such a pain
@sophee1022 I've heard it's on the lower end of the series quality. ESPECIALLY in the acting department. That said, the story did have potential. It kinda feels like they were trying for a timeline similar to Fatal Frame, in that most of the Games work as stand alone titles but work better when played as a series. This didn't work with Struggle Within.
I tried playing it and it was INFURIATING. I get that they were trying to make it an open-ended experience, but tying progression and endings to specific items was a mess: 1) The damn amulet. They didn't even explain how it works. The fact that having it or not having it would completely change certain situations was taken way too far. 2) Allowing you to progress just to give you a slap-in-the-face bad ending. I don't know how many times I've seen it but that ending with the knight armor is so infuriating. How am I supposed to know to look at that damn armor inside the house to get the best ending? 3) Too many bad endings. This is a combination of points 1 & 2 but most of the scenarios you'll come across are because you made a "mistake" and didn't know it, which leads to your death.
With all the attention Clock Tower is getting lately, I hope we get more remakes/remasters of the older games. The only one I really want to see is Ghost Head bc while I think the story is decent and characters are great (really only Alissa and esp Bates) the GAME part of the game is... bad. I want to see those characters and their interesting mechanic in a GOOD game. After that maybe CT2. I don't think CT3 needs a remake, more of a remaster edition. The campy, over acting was very intentional imo.
