Space has fascinated people since time began, getting to places as the moon or others isn't easy today even, so stories going back so far, is more than interesting. His writing really is magical. Even young readers today can get so excited by his work. Back in my teaching days, I recall that the students loved "Five Weeks in a Balloon." Hehe, I can only imagine how he would write adventures stories in our time. The problem is that the world is much better mapped now!
It’s interesting seeing how you juxtaposed antecedent examples before Verne. I enjoyed seeing how Verne spun this story with some realistic elements. All I can think of Back to the Future III.
