I agree with you 100%. You should give them one last warning, then take away the bonus for anyone doing unsafe work. That's your money and business they're messing with. Felt probably won't break a window, but that's your money down the drain. Not to mention it costs you MORE because then you have to stop at Home Depot again because you're out. Safety is no joke, and some of them simply aren't taking it seriously. You shouldn't have to do a walk around of all of your trucks twice a day. The driver needs to do it every time prior to getting into the driver's seat. Take away that bonus once or twice and I bet they'll change that bad behavior.
I would say that he was very lucky it was simply felt that went off the truck....since well...would hate to imagine them not tying down one of the machines as that would then probably be the worst case scenario for one of those to go off the trailers. So I would say instead of bonus getting taken away.....they gotta repay whatever is lost on top if bonus is already gone or if the bonus money doesn't even cover the cost of said lost item. That way while it's an oospie if it's felt they just lose the bonus or times afterwards they pay for new felt....not that much change out of their pockets compared to thousands of dollars worth of equipment from not making sure the bucket on the mini excavator isn't tied down. Because as said previously Ryan is responsible and going to be the one slapped hardest if something one of the employees does or doesn't do if it causes harm or damage to someone else, there is no reason for them to not feel that they do have their jobs on the line if they suspect that they might have messed up big time.
Have always caught your videos on fb but as of late have been watching them during the day or in the background now that I am slow part of welding season for pipe. Maybe someday I’ll leave the refineries and head back up north to do so! Stay safe and continue working hard. Can’t wait to see how the building comes out!
Ryan as a retired driver and owned my own business one thing i done was make sure my drivers had responsibility of the truck they drove and a pretrip form was filled out every morning even if it wasn't long hauls. Drivers i had took pride in there trucks if anything was wrong with them they would report it and it was fixed immediately. Well good luck.
I was thinking something the same. Have a form for every morning and before heading home. They have to sign off on it so if it's not done properly you know who is at fault and can discipline accordingly
And an engine light on a brand new truck because he said he hasn’t gotten an oil cha he since he got the truck.. not sure if that’s true or not but the engine light shouldn’t be on already.. gotta take care of investments
Ryan, you're a good guy and a great boss; the thing is, there are a couple or so, of guys on your crew that just don't care and that's why they "forget". Maybe use bonuses at the end of the year for being good employees. You've got a good heart. Grandma from Texas.
I agree if they cannot follow directions as far as the safety of the trucks then you should withhold there bonus or part of it. It seems like some of them are just in a rush to get done to go do whatever after work and it's not right. Like you said before it only takes one bad incident to really hurt your business.
I think that’s a great idea about loosing bonuses if something isn’t strapped down on the trucks or like Ray just said felt is coming off onto the freeway. You should only explain once and when they drive whatever vehicle it is their responsibility to get from A to B with no accidents or mishaps. They are very lucky to get that bonus just for timekeeping. I wish my boss was like you. As I’m from UK. I’m sure my boss is from the Victorian era. Hey Ryan, check all the battery cables for the form truck. Even a bad connection can cause it to crank over slow, just look for anything like corrosion etc. You can also do a voltage drop test from the battery to the starter which is very quick and easy to do.

@teebone4140 yes. Do you think Mechanics just drop everything they're doing to cater for Ryan whenever he needs them? Don't think so buddy. Everyone gets treated the same in the industry.

Goooood morning, Ryan . Greetings from sunny Arizona . Need rain send some this way. Lol
I'm up in Kaukauna and my house got hit by a tornado last week. EF1, but it did some damage. Glad you guys are ok Ryan!
Should have a toolbox/safety talk once a week with everyone, we used to do this at the Toyota dealership with all the mechanics in regards to safety measures and anything that differs from the normal that's coming up for the week.. we even signed our names after every talk
😂 by the end ov the meeting they would have forgotten everything he said 🤷♂️ his guys don't take him serious
How corporate
Micromanagement is BS. It makes me leave jobs.😂😂😂😂
I used to work for a company that has a contract with the California Resources Corporation. We did the maintenance on the oil pump gas lines in the oilfields. Every Tuesday, we had our safety talk. They made sure everyone was there
